3 Mistakes People Make with Systems
2026/04/20
If your systems only work when life is calm, motivation is high, and the week is going perfectly… they may not be built for real life. In this episode, I’m walking through 3 common mistakes people make with systems. These are the exact traps that make routines feel exciting at first but impossible to maintain once normal life kicks back in. We’ll talk about: • building systems for your best day instead of your average day • trying to fix every broken system at once • forgetting to adjust your systems for the season you’re actually in I’m also sharing stories from my own life—what I’ve learned from work, motherhood, busy seasons, and the ongoing process of building systems that are simple, flexible, and repeatable. This episode is a great one if you’ve ever said: “Why can’t I make this work?” “Why do my routines only last a few weeks?” “Do I need a brand-new system… or just a better one for this season?” You do not need a perfect system. You need a system that works on a messy Tuesday. Listen in and let’s figure out which system needs your attention most right now. How To Know If A System Is Broke
2026/04/13
What if the problem isn’t your discipline… but your system? In this episode, I’m helping you identify one of the biggest reasons overwhelm keeps showing up in your home and work life: a broken system. If you’ve ever felt frustrated by the same recurring chaos—laundry piles, dinner scramble, missed deadlines, clutter, forgotten plans—this episode will help you stop blaming yourself and start asking better questions. I’m walking through 3 clear signs a system may be broken: You have to rely on willpower to make it workThe same problem keeps showing up every weekThe system only works for one version of your lifeI also share practical examples from my own home and remind you that tiny systems can make a big difference. Sometimes the answer is not trying harder. Sometimes the answer is redesigning what is no longer working for this season. If one area of your life feels off, this episode will help you isolate it, assess it, and begin making gentle changes that support your real life—not some imaginary perfect Monday. A few questions to reflect on after listening: What keeps repeating this week? Where does it break down? What tiny system could prevent this? If you are tired of feeling like you just need to “do better,” this episode is your reminder that peace often starts with a better system. Why Systems Matter
2026/04/06
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, scattered, or like everything is living in your head… this episode is for you. In this episode, I’m sharing the foundation of everything I teach: why systems matter. Because here’s the truth—most women don’t need more discipline. They need better systems. I walk you through: • How systems reduce the mental load • Why systems protect what matters most • How systems multiply your capacity I also share the story of how systems began for me—during a breaking point as a young mom trying to balance both home and work life. If you’re feeling stretched thin, this episode will help you take your first step toward peace and clarity. Your challenge this week: Pick ONE area of your life that feels chaotic and create ONE small system. Alignment Before Acceleration
2026/03/30
Align Before You Accelerate Big doers know how to move fast. But what if moving faster isn’t the answer? In this honest and deeply practical episode, Bekah unpacks a powerful leadership and life principle: God cares more about your alignment than your acceleration. Through personal stories from both The Encourager brand and Rebekah Scott Designs, Bekah shares how easy it is to build momentum in the wrong direction — and how subtle misalignment can quietly drain your joy, energy, and effectiveness. If you’ve ever felt: productive but not peacefulsuccessful but stretchedbusy but oddly stuckThis episode will meet you right where you are. Alignment with God Are you asking God what to do — or asking Him to bless what you already decided? 2. Alignment with Season Not every season is for scaling. Some are for pruning, simplifying, repairing, and strengthening. 3. Alignment with Capacity Capacity includes emotional bandwidth, financial margin, family needs, and physical health. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you’re meant to carry it. ✨ Three Questions to Reflect On: Where am I rushing that God hasn’t released me to run? What feels heavy that once felt life-giving?What would it look like to pause before I push? 🛠️ Practical Next Step: Before you accelerate anything this year, choose one area to realign: one commitment to releaseone system to simplifyone boundary to reinforceone prayer to sit with longerAlignment first. Five Questions That Will Change the Direction of Your Year
2026/03/09
If the new year—or this season—feels a little murky, this episode will help you find clarity without overwhelm. In this episode, Rebekah walks through five intentional questions designed to help you reset your year with peace, alignment, and purpose—whether you’re a business owner, working mom, stay-at-home mom, or in a blended season. These aren’t goals. They’re anchors. Rebekah shares personal examples from her own life and business and explains why these questions work any time of year—not just January. The Five Questions Covered: One thing I want (desire, not obligation)One thing I need (support, resource, or boundary)One thing I will cancel (permission-based subtraction)One thing I will sustain (what’s quietly working)One thing I will track (the smallest metric that matters)Resources Mentioned: Five Questions Guided WorksheetWeekly AgendaHoney HuddleHabit TrackerKey Takeaway: You don’t need a bigger plan—you need better questions. What This Season Is Not Asking of You
2026/03/02
Have you ever felt exhausted—not because life is hard—but because you’re responding to expectations God never gave you? In today’s episode, we’re talking about what this season is not asking of you. Not every good thing is required of you right now, and discernment is just as faithful as diligence. You’ll hear: Why seasons often change before we update our identityHow old assignments quietly turn into burdensWhy faithfulness looks different in different chaptersAnd why carrying everything is not a spiritual virtueThis episode will help you release false urgency, outdated expectations, and invisible pressure—so you can make room for what actually matters in this season. 🎧 Be sure to download the guided worksheet HERE to reflect alongside this episode. Pre-Decisions: The Simple Tool That Frees Your Mental Load
2026/02/23
Decision fatigue isn’t a personality flaw — and it’s not just hormones or a busy season. It’s the quiet exhaustion that comes from making too many small decisions all day long. In this episode, I’m sharing one of the most practical tools I use in my own life and work: pre-decisions. Pre-decisions are choices you make once, ahead of time, so future-you doesn’t have to negotiate with tired-you. They aren’t rigid rules — they’re life-giving permissions that reduce mental clutter and free up space for what actually matters. We’ll walk through: What decision fatigue really is (and why it sneaks up on you)Why overwhelm often comes from deciding — not doingHow pre-decisions create less thinking and more beingReal-life examples of pre-decisions in each of the five systems:MeFoodHomeWorkFamilyI’ll also challenge you to start small — just one pre-decision — and show you how even a 1% shift can reduce the mental load you’re carrying. You don’t need more discipline. You need fewer decisions.  Ready to Go Deeper? Batching: From Scattered to Steady.
2026/02/16
Ever feel busy all day but still behind? In this episode, Rebekah unpacks one of her most trusted systems: batching. Not as a productivity trick, but as a kindness to your brain. You’ll learn why task-switching exhausts your mind, how batching restores clarity and peace, and how you can start with just one small shift this week. In this episode, we cover: Why overwhelm isn’t about doing too much, but doing too many different thingsWhat batching actually isHow batching reduces decision fatigueHow Rebekah batches content, meals, admin, and manufacturing workTwo practical ways to start batching this weekThe 80% rule: why you don’t need to batch everything to see changePractical takeaway from this episode: Choose one repetitive task this week and block 2–3 hours to batch it. Then pay attention not just to the time saved — but to how it feels.  Ready to Go Deeper? Overwhelmed? Try Reverse Engineering.
2026/02/09
Have you ever had a goal that felt exciting… until you tried to figure out how to actually make it happen? In this episode, I introduces one of my most powerful tools for progress: reverse engineering. Instead of jumping six feet, you learn how to take the next six inches—and why those small, faithful steps lead to sustainable change. You’ll learn: What reverse engineering actually isWhy overwhelm is often a clarity problem (not a motivation problem)How this concept connects directly to Habakkuk 2:2How I used reverse engineering for vow renewal, business growth, and even my future retreat cabinA simple challenge you can start today“You don’t need the whole roadmap. You just need the next faithful six inches.” Scripture referenced: Habakkuk 2:2 – “Write the vision and make it plain.”  Ready to Go Deeper? Things I Don’t Do
2026/02/02
Have you ever looked at someone and thought, “How are they doing it all?” The truth is, most people are not doing it all. They’ve just quietly decided what they will no longer carry. In this episode, I walk through my personal “Things I Don’t Do” list across the five systems: Me, Food, Home, Family, and Work. These are not rules for everyone. They are life-giving decisions for this season. Some examples I share: I don’t do red dyeI don’t watch movies twiceI don’t do takeout pizzaI don’t buy extra appliances when my KitchenAid works just fineI don’t clean my windowsI don’t use a traditional plannerI don’t allow sleepovers before 5th gradeI don’t celebrate Mother’s Day in the traditional wayI don’t do coffee datesI don’t start work before 9am These decisions are not about perfection. They are about peace. At the end of the episode, I challenge you to create your own list by asking: What drains me every single time? What do I keep doing out of guilt? What could I release for this season? Because margin really does create joy.

Who Am I? Helping Ourselves (and Our Teens) Rediscover Identity in a Noisy World with Guest Ellie Saxer
2026/01/12
This week on The Encourager, I’m joined again by my dear friend and resident brain-science-meets-Bible expert, Ellie Saxer, and we’re talking about something we see everywhere — an identity crisis hitting every generation, from moms to teens to college students. Ellie shares powerful research on why our teens (and honestly, we adults) feel more lonely, anxious, and disconnected than ever — and how much of that traces back to not knowing who we are outside of our roles, and to the massive influence of social media and comparison culture. We talk about: Why “Tell me about yourself” is so hard for most people to answerThe shocking stats around teen loneliness, perfection pressure, and screen timeHow our brains process emotional pain the same way as physical painWhy we’re wired by God for connection, service, and joyHow to help your kids recognize curated/fake content onlinePractical steps to rediscover who you were uniquely created to beHow to help your teens build identity, resilience, and confidenceThe power of calling out the God-given qualities you see in your childrenWhy serving others actually rewires your brain toward joyThis is a deep, encouraging, eye-opening episode that will help you support your teens, reconnect with who you are, and understand why identity matters so deeply in our walk with Christ. And here’s your first step:  Write down the question Ellie’s counselor asked her Who are you… outside of your roles? Sit with it. Pray over it. Begin noticing what lights you up. This is a journey, not a quick assignment. At the end, Ellie and I share practical next steps for you and your family, including a simple way to capture identity “clues” on your fridge. 🔗 Links & Resources: 🎧 Listen now on Apple Podcasts & Spotify   💗 Join the Encourager Community: encouragerpodcast.com 📝 Explore the 5 Systems & Courses: encourageracademy.com 🛍️ Shop Rebekah Scott Designs: shoprsd.com 🛒 Browse Rebekah’s Favorite Tools: Amazon Shop ⭐ Leave a Review: It helps more women find the show! 📱 Connect on Instagram: @encouragerpodcast 🙌 Share this episode: Tag us and tell us how you’re starting this year!
