Today Mary and I talked with one of our Children's Authors Helen OToole - What a show. It was so humbling. I appreciate her so much To be honored to publisher her books I have no words.

She still remembers the soft click of the rails and the gentle chuff of the little green steam engine. Down in her father’s basement, the world was infinite. Mountains rose from plywood, tunnels swallowed trains whole, and every curve held a new adventure. Side by side, father and daughter rode those rails of the imagination — explorers of a kingdom built with love and tiny brass wheels. Decades later, the little girl has silver in her hair. Now she stands at the edge of real tracks, hand-in-hand with her own granddaughter, watching a full-size green steam locomotive thunder toward them. The same color. The same magic. Only bigger. The adventures didn’t stop. They just grew. Some of the best gifts we give our children (and their children) aren’t wrapped. They’re the ones that keep rolling forward — memory to memory, heart to heart.

A tortoise, a piece of starlit sea glass, and the night the universe came down to the beach. Carl the gopher tortoise wandered farther than he’d ever gone. What he found was a piece of green sea glass that reflected the entire night sky. His friends taught him the planets. The stars taught him to wonder. Carl Explores the Sky — a bedtime adventure about looking beyond home.

The Echoes We Carry honors the marks left behind by survival. It is a steady, reassuring light for anyone learning to live alongside their history— not by erasing the scars, but by building a lasting sanctuary over the foundation. The past does not disappear—it changes shape. In these pages, memory becomes a living companion rather than a burden. Nightshade invites readers into a quiet sanctuary where every scar is acknowledged, every echo is heard, and healing is found not by forgetting the past but by reshaping it into something strong enough to hold the future. The Echoes We Carry

Poems that explain the structural labor of building a home and surviving the storm—where scars become rafters and resilience is built one line at a time. In these quiet, powerful poems, the everyday work of holding a life together after the tempest is laid bare: the beams we raise from old wounds, the shelter we craft from silence and strength, the home that still stands when the wind dies down.Scars as Rafters

From bitter frost to open horizon. A.L. Nightshade’s Sweet Designs is a sanctuary of leaf and light—where the heart unlearns fear and reclaims its voice. A collection of poems on resilience and healing.Sweet Designs by A.L. Nightshade

Winter is coming, and Bleu is still a little bird with untested wings. He has to fly south. That is the rule of the season. But flying is frightening when the nest has always been enough. What Bleu does not yet know is this: he is already loved. Already protected. Already cared for. Courage is not something he has to invent, it is something he grows into, one beat of his wings at a time. When the cold finally lifts and Bleu returns north for summer, he does not keep that gift to himself. He gathers the new little birds and teaches them what the journey taught him: how to leave, how to trust, how to come home. A tender story of first flight, belonging, and the quiet bravery of passing love on. Parent-facing line A picture-book journey about courage, care, and the gift of teaching what you have learned.

From friendship and parenting to marriage, work, and the twists and turns of a career, these are stories about the things we all recognize: the moments that make us laugh, the ones that bring a quiet “ahh,” and those wonderfully unexpected moments that stay with us. These are stories for the fun of telling. Stories to share with friends. Stories to enjoy around a campfire at night. Stories for a quiet afternoon, a bedtime read, or whenever you need a little break from the noise and demands of everyday life. Some will make you laugh. Some may bring a tear. Some might remind you of someone you know. And some will simply make you feel good.

In Oakhaven, magic belongs to mothers. Every son is taken at fourteen — claimed by the iron warlords and hollowed into weapons. The mothers are told it is the price of balance. They are told to endure. Matriarch Anaya has endured for decades. But her youngest son carries a living green magic the warlords cannot see… and the hunters are already coming. This time, the mothers will not merely endure.
