Purpose Statement: People with the spiritual gift of leadership can lead effectively. Paul gives Timothy some common sense related to recruiting leadership. God empowered leaders can elicit trust easily. They can use their leadership energies and skills for the good of the group, organization or community. They are goal setters and can communicate the desired results and help people move in that direction. What are some examples?

Purpose statement: What motto do people say to rise above life’s difficulties? How do people overcome difficulties? The scene takes place in the Temple. It’s 3:00 p.m. the hour for the Jews to gather and pray. Peter, John and two well-known leaders come to attend. Also, a paralytic sits with his outstretched hands. Do you feel his despair? What are the expectations? How is the grace of God sufficient for you in a disadvantage? Have you been living spiritually disadvantaged? How do you refresh spiritually? How do you draw on the power of the Holy Spirit?

Purpose Statement: Explain the technological revolution to someone. How many computer inventions are commonplace? How has every technological item become smart? How is our world changing? How do we talk about the Jesus revolution (Matthew 16:18)? Is the church powerful or limping along? Who is the incarnate Son, Jesus Christ? What convincing proofs affirm the Resurrection of Jesus Christ? Who are to be witnesses? What’s the plan/Strategy?

Purpose Statement: How and why do we cry out to the Lord in prayer? How often when you pray do you wait to let God speak to you? Prayer consists not only of asking for things or even only of thanking God for things. Sometimes we go to God simply to refresh our souls. In His presence we find a new vision and greater hope. Prayer has been called the voice of faith. The most earnest prayer springs from the depths of our souls. The command from Scripture is this: “In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Purpose Statement: Can you imagine that the church is being filled up and people are running around exercising their spiritual gifts? Some gifts are public and prominent while other gifts are behind the scene. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts. A number of spiritual gifts are behind the scene and not to be displayed publicly. Most spiritual gifts are never scene in action. The body of Christ is held together because of people with their spiritual gifts in action. Some people may think since they don’t know their spiritual gifts they are necessary in the body of Christ. Notice that Paul pleads with the readers. Paul starts with the words “I urge, I plead with you. Please listen to be to present your bodies.” When I talk about spiritual gifts I’m talking about Christians who need to understand why and how to exercise these gifts. It is your spiritual service of worship to exercise your spiritual gifts. Have you exercised lately?

Purpose Statement: The Prayer of Jabez is where Jabez asks God to bless him, enlarge his territory, keep his hand upon him, and protect him from harm. This brief Scripture in between names describes Jabez as more honorable than his brothers and notes that God did grant him his request. A book titled: Prayer of Jabez was written by Bruce Wilkinson. Why and how do we pray?

Purpose Statement: Our church was birthed in 1909. We celebrated our 100th Anniversary in 2009. Do you know our story? How did more people come to Christ when we saw the church grow? Evangelistic outreach inspired many new people to join the church, youth programs were expanded, missionary support increased, and training for teachers was available. How do we view our experience here at Trinity E.C.C.? What is the truth about this church? What will your legacy be?
