In Christ Pt.6
2026/09/27
Your identity isn’t found in what you did. It’s found in what Jesus shed. In In Christ Pt. 6, Pastor Jon Purkey continues through Ephesians 2:11–13 and the radical change that happens when someone who was once far from God is brought near through the blood of Jesus Christ. Paul tells the believers in Ephesus not to forget that they were once outsiders—not to produce shame, but gratitude. Because remembering what God brought you out of is one of the greatest defenses against pride and self-righteousness. Pastor Jon challenges us to examine the difference between outward religion and inward transformation. You can change your behavior without surrendering your heart. You can know how to look the part without ever experiencing the power of a life transformed by Jesus. This message is a call back to the Word, the Holy Spirit, discipleship, and the blood of Christ. Because Christ tells you who you are. The blood tells you how you got there. If you’ve been allowing your past, your mistakes, religion, or someone else’s label to define you, this message will remind you of what Jesus has already done. Scripture: Ephesians 2:11–13 Thanks for listening to the Nexus Church Podcast. If this message encouraged you, follow the podcast and share this episode with someone who needs to hear it.
In Christ Pt. 5

BUT GOD | IN CHRIST Part 5 — Ephesians 2:1–10 You weren't just broken. You weren't just struggling. You were dead. And dead people don't need behavior modification. Dead people need resurrection. In Part 5 of IN CHRIST: A Study Through Ephesians, Pastor Jon Purkey walks through Ephesians 2:1–10 and the radical truth of the gospel: we were dead in our sin, enslaved to what we obeyed, and unable to save ourselves. Then two words change everything: BUT GOD. We were dead—but God. We were lost—but God. We were slaves to sin—but God. Because of His great love and rich mercy, God made us alive with Christ, raised us with Christ, and seated us with Christ. This isn't a message about trying harder to become a better Christian. It's about surrendering your strength, depending completely on Christ, and receiving what Jesus has already accomplished. Grace is what God provides. Faith is how we receive it. You are saved by grace through faith. You cannot take credit for it. Salvation is God's gift. And now you are His masterpiece. You weren't saved by good works. You were saved for good works. Maybe all you can see right now is the rough draft. God already sees the finished work. 📖 Scripture: Ephesians 2:1–10 🎙️ Speaker: Pastor Jon Purkey 🔥 Series: IN CHRIST — A Study Through Ephesians ⛪ Nexus Church | Kansas City If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to hear the gospel and remember what God’s grace can do. In Christ Pt. 4
2026/09/13
What if the answer isn't more advice—but wisdom and revelation from God? In this message from IN CHRIST: A Study Through Ephesians, Pastor Jon Purkey finishes Ephesians 1 and unpacks Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:15–23. Paul wasn't praying that believers would simply get more. He prayed that God would give them wisdom and revelation so the eyes of their hearts would be flooded with light—and they could finally recognize what God had already placed within their reach through Christ. Revelation allows you to see what was already there. Wisdom teaches you what to do with what you now see. This message challenges us to move from simply believing in Jesus to actively following Jesus—praying for people, walking in love, listening to the Holy Spirit, making disciples and carrying the Gospel beyond the walls of the church. You'll also discover why your present circumstances cannot cancel God's calling over your life and why believers don't have to beg God for power He has already made available through Christ. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in those who believe. You don't just need to know more. You need your eyes opened to who you already are and what you already carry IN CHRIST. In Christ Pt. 3

Knowing about Jesus and following Jesus are not the same thing. In this week’s IN CHRIST: A Study Through Ephesians, Pastor Jon continues through Ephesians 1 and asks a question every believer needs to wrestle with: Are you following Jesus—or have you simply learned how to say you believe? Real faith produces surrender. Real faith produces fruit. And when we belong to Christ, the Holy Spirit doesn’t simply live within us—He empowers us to live differently, follow boldly, and become disciples who make disciples. You were not saved just to make a confession. You were called to follow. And you don’t have to follow Jesus in your own strength. The Holy Spirit is your help, your power, and the guarantee that there is still more to come. 🎧 Take this message with you this week. Listen to the Nexus Church Podcast on your favorite podcast platform and continue our verse-by-verse journey through Ephesians. Be a disciple. Make disciples.

Some of us are still trying to earn what Jesus already paid for. In Part 2 of In Christ, Pastor Jon Purkey continues through Ephesians 1 and reminds us that the Christian life doesn't begin with what we do for God. It begins with understanding what God has already done for us in Christ. Through Jesus, you have been redeemed. Your forgiveness was purchased by His blood. God's grace toward you isn't rationed—it is lavished. And you have been given an inheritance you could never earn through your own works. But grace isn't an excuse to remain unchanged. The same Jesus who redeems us also calls us to surrender every area of our lives to His authority. Your marriage. Your money. Your ambitions. Your relationships. Your future. You don't have to earn what Jesus already purchased. You have to learn how to live from what you've already been given. You are redeemed. You are forgiven. You are an heir. You are in Christ. What if you stopped trying to earn what Jesus has already given you? In this message, Pastor Jon begins our IN CHRIST series through the book of Ephesians, unpacking what it means to truly know who you are in Jesus. You are not waiting to be chosen. You are not working to become loved. You are not fighting to earn acceptance. In Christ, you are chosen, loved, adopted, forgiven, and already blessed with every spiritual blessing. Your past may tell one story. People may remember an old version of you. But when you are in Christ, God’s verdict gets the final word. The enemy points to what you did. Jesus points to what He finished. It’s time to stop trying to earn what Jesus already purchased and start living from your identity, inheritance, and authority in Christ. 📖 Ephesians 1:1–6 | Galatians 1:15 | Romans 8:15–17 If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to be reminded of who they are in Christ. Louder Than Fear
2026/08/16
Fear has a voice—and if we aren’t careful, it can become the loudest voice in our lives. In this message from Numbers 13–14, we look at the twelve spies who saw the same land, the same giants, and the same obstacles, yet came back with completely different reports. Ten interpreted what they saw through fear. Joshua and Caleb interpreted it through faith. Faith doesn’t deny the giant. Faith remembers that God is there too. Fear can distort how we see ourselves, magnify what’s against us, and convince us to retreat into what feels familiar. But God has not called us to be controlled by fear. Courage is obedience in the presence of fear, and when fear starts speaking, we can let the Word of God answer. In this message, discover how to: • Recognize when fear is shaping your decisions • Interpret your circumstances through faith instead of fear • Stop allowing fear to minimize who God has called you to be • Remember God’s faithfulness when the future feels uncertain • Choose obedience even when you still feel afraid • Let God’s Word become louder than fear Scripture: Numbers 13–14 When the report changes, the Lord is. When people leave, the Lord is. When you don’t understand what’s happening, the Lord is. Fear may be loud—but God’s Word is louder. Give: nexuskc.com/give
Swept, but not filled
2026/08/09
Spiritual Discipline Matters! There’s a difference between cleaning up your life and surrendering it completely to Jesus. In Luke 11:24–26, Jesus warns us about the danger of an empty house. Behavior modification may change what’s happening on the outside, but lasting transformation happens when we allow Christ to fill every area of our lives. Persistent prayer changes the locks on the doors of our hearts. Worship gives us new furniture. The Word decorates the walls. Obedience shuts the door to the enemy. The goal isn’t simply to remove what doesn’t belong—it’s to fill every inch of your life with Jesus: His Word, His ways, and His truth. Don’t confuse the freedom of a cleaned-up life with the fullness of a surrendered one. Steep your identity in Christ and His Word, build spiritual disciplines that keep you rooted in Him, and watch how the old begins to fall away. The One Who Returned
2026/08/02
Be the one who returns. In Luke 17, Jesus healed ten lepers, but only one came back to thank Him. The miracle changed all ten lives, but gratitude marked only one heart. How often do we become so focused on the blessing that we forget the One who gave it? It's easy to celebrate the breakthrough while overlooking the Savior who made it possible. This message is a call to shift our focus from what we've received to Who we've received it from. Take time to remember God's faithfulness, His mercy, and the countless ways He has carried you through every season. Don't allow familiarity with God's goodness to replace gratitude for His presence. Watch "The One Who Returned" and be challenged to cultivate a heart of worship, thanksgiving, and unwavering praise. The greatest miracle isn't just what God does for us—it's knowing Him. The Curse of Entitlement
2026/07/26
Entitlement is dangerous because most of us never believe we have it. It grows quietly when appreciation dies, when pride convinces us we are owed something, and when we forget that everything we have is a gift from God. The breath in our lungs is His. The life in our days is His. Every opportunity, every blessing, and every open door exists because of His grace. In this message, Pastor Jon Purkey challenges us to examine the areas where frustration, offense, or unmet expectations have replaced gratitude. It is time to put down entitlement, pick up praise, and follow wherever God wants to lead. Watch or listen now, and let the Holy Spirit search your heart. Give: nexuskc.com/give
You Shall Do What You Couldn't Do
2026/07/20
God's presence is the answer. He is enough. In this powerful message, Pastor Jon Purkey reminds us that God has never been limited by human ability—only by our willingness to trust Him. Whatever fear, insecurity, failure, or doubt has been holding you back from pursuing God's call, His presence is greater. When you humble yourself before the Lord and surrender your plans to Him, He equips you to accomplish what you never could on your own. Stop focusing on your limitations and start believing in His promises. The Kingdom of God has always advanced through ordinary people who trusted an extraordinary God. Stop telling yourself what you can't do, and start reminding yourself what He will do. God is Good
2026/07/12
GOD IS GOOD! Too often the circumstances of life have us forgetting the goodness of our Savior. Never take your focus off of the truth that God is good, and He has goodness planned for you! Time and time again we see in scripture that trials and tribulations are opportunities for His goodness to be put on display. Set your eyes on the Lord, rest in His perfect character, and expect for the fulfillment of His promises!!!! God is SO good!

You Cant Carry Both
2026/06/28
YOU CAN’T CARRY BOTH. Some of us are praying for new wine while still gripping old wineskins. Jesus said you don’t sew new cloth onto an old garment. You don’t pour new wine into old wineskins. Why? Because what God is doing next cannot be contained by what you’ve refused to release. The tragedy isn’t that God isn’t moving. The tragedy is trying to carry yesterday into tomorrow. Some of us are dragging around old wounds. Old relationships. Old mindsets. Old habits. Old versions of ourselves that God already called us out of. You can’t carry both. God is about to do something new in this house. A fresh move. Fresh fire. Fresh oil. Fresh faith. But new wine requires new wineskins. Before God fills your hands with what’s next, He’ll often ask you to open your hands and let go of what was. The hardest part of walking into God’s future isn’t believing He can do something new. It’s trusting Him enough to put down what’s familiar. Don’t miss tomorrow because you’re still holding yesterday. It’s time to release the old. It’s time to make room. It’s time for the new. “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and uses it to patch an old garment…” — Luke 5:36 “New wine must be stored in new wineskins.” — Luke 5:38 #NexusChurch #YouCantCarryBoth #NewWine #FreshFire #JesusChangesEverything #Luke5
