What Really Happened on the Dubai Plane? - Women's Bereishis Class
2026/10/06
The FlyDubai Plane Was Hijacked. He Stood Up. Would I?This class, presented on Tuesday, Parshas Bereishis, 25 Tishrei, 5787, Oct. 6, 2026. explores the extraordinary, miraculous story of the FlyDubai flight, flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv, saved by the co-pilot who attempted to murder hundreds, maybe thousands. It speaks of twelve miracles that saved the day and caused a nation to erupt in praise and dance.
The class tells the story of sibling rivalry throughout Bereishis, beginning with Kayin and Hevel, ending with Joseph and his brothers. It contrasts the stories of Adam and Eve and Kayin and Hevel, who avoid responsibility for genuine leadership, which assumes responsibility. It shows the difference between Kayin and Yosef, and how that inspired Moshe to go out to his brothers and stand up when "there was no man."
The class concludes with a lesson to each of us, even the simple ones, to have the courage to "storm the cockpit" and bring our plane home. There are moments when history asks a person a single question: Will you remain in your seat, or will you stand up and become the person this moment needs?

2026/09/29
My Journey to Open My Heart; The Teshuvah of Coming Back to MyselfIn this episode of the 18Forty Podcast, we talk to Rabbi YY Jacobson, one of the foremost online teachers of Torah, about how each of us can experience redemptive consciousness by feeling Hashem's infinite love and presence in this moment.
In this episode we discuss: —Why has there been a shift in the way we approach publicly sharing Torah? —What is the nature of the Torah approach to vulnerability? —What are we trying to achieve with our own teshuva?
Tune in to hear a conversation about the pain of existing seemingly separately from the Divine.

Healing Your Sukkos Stress: We Want Your Heart More than Your Food - Women's Sukkos Class
2026/09/22
The Anatomy of Ecstasy: How Joy Was Reinvented at Simchas Beis HashoavahThis class was presented by Rabbi YY Jacobson on 11 Tishrei, 5787, September 22, 2026.
The joy of Sukkos cannot merely mean relief that the Yamim Noraim are over. Relief is valuable, but it is not the explosive simcha described by Torah and Chazal. Every night of Sukkos in the Beis Hamikdash, multitudes gathered in Jerusalem. Great sages danced and juggled flaming torches. Light flooded the city. Before dawn, a procession descended to the Shiloach spring, drew water, and carried it upward with shofar blasts. The water was poured on the mizbeach together with the morning offering. Was this joy only because Yom Kippur is over? That seems strange.
So what is the secret of this intense joy? The Mishnah says (Sukkah 51b), One who never witnessed Simchas Beis Hashoavah, the Sages declare, never witnessed joy in life. But why? And why say it in the negative? And also why be “stingy” with joy? Maybe a person did experience happiness in another setting or environment! How can anyone state that “if you did not come to my wedding, you never saw joy!” It seems very strange.
The class delves deeply into the secret of the schism of the water on day two of creation and how the joy of Sukkot heals the tension that has become part of the fabric of life. The class shows how the deepest gift we can bring into the sukkah is not perfection on the table; it is a living heart, present enough to channel joy, love, and the flow of Hashem.

How the Alter Rebbe healed the "trauma" of the "yesh," the sense of ego and separateness, which is the core of all our anxiety. Take your "yesh" seriously, but realize what is its true story: Hashem in His essence wantinbg to have an authentic relationship with YOU.

2026/09/02
What Happens to the Soul when It Departs from the Body?

We discuss why Moshe did not want to be a leader, and why so severe a penalty for expressing a halacha in front of your Rebbe.

2026/08/31
If All Your Journeys Are Not Bringing You to Infinite Humility -- You're on another Ego Trip
This is the first class in a series on the Maamar Yom Tov Shel Rosh Hashanah said by the Alter Rebbe for Rosh Hashanah 5571, September 29, 1810, which came out on Shabbos.
This class was presented by Rabbi YY Jacobson on Monday, 18 Elul, 5786, August 31, 2026, at Bais Medrash Ohr Chaim in Monsey, NY.
The Alter Rebbe asks how the sages could cancel for the entire Jewish nation the Torah mitzvah to hear Shofar on Rosh Hashanah when it falls out on Shabbos, just because some individual may come to carry it?
The maamar delves into the theme of Igulim and Yosher, the higher and lower levels of unity, two states of consciousness: In one, the creation is submerged in source, with no visible identity; in the other, it emerges as an autonomous reality.
