As we approach November 3, 2026, Election Day, I wanted to do an episode about voting. My first instinct was to produce an episode about voter suppression, gerrymandering, or any of the various attacks on open elections. The episode would cover the many ways Republicans, MAGA, white nationalists  continue to do anything they can including,lying cheating and stealing with the goal of securing power. Politicians lying isn't a revelation. People have always debated facts.  Today's access to social media and the ease at which just about anyone can publish and spread "stories" has made distinguishing truth from fiction much more of a challenge. In fact, it often feels as if a large percentage of society no longer cares about what is true. As this is the Power to the People series, I think it's important that we ask ourselves how we can play a role in reducing mis or disinformation from disrupting our lives. It's rampant, but that doesn't mean we have to fall victim or help spread it. There are lots of people today,both non disabled and disabled,  who are looking for a way to get activated. Searching for a way to participate in resisting the attacks on voter rights, education, DEI and everything else that MAGA is against. For disabled people this can be a challenge. For the past few years, the summer season has been dedicated to Flipping the Script on Audio Description. Even though I've been gone for a minute, we're continuing with that tradition. In the upcoming episodes we'll continue to explore AD and in general access to video content all through a Blind Centered approach. Simply put, centering the Blind and low vision AD consumers in the conversation. I'm excited to be back producing episodes and in conversation with the Reid My Mind Radio Family.
