9.27.26 [UPDATE + TEACHING] The Book of Genesis (wk 3) - 2:18
2026/09/27
Jason Miller - In this week's gatherings, before turning to the book of Genesis, we shared a vision for our ten-year anniversary coming in April. Be sure to listen to the community update at the beginning of the episode to stay up to date. And then we turned to the loneliness of Adam, the challenge of "helper" language, and the power of the Gospel to create a community.

9.20.26 [TEACHING] The Book of Genesis (wk 2) - 2:5-15
2026/09/20
Jason Miller - When Genesis 2 describes Adam made from the dust and breathed into life by God, what if the writer is telling a story about all of us? And what if poetic power of this text isn't at odds with the biological account of human origins known as evolution?

9.13.26 [TEACHING] The Book of Genesis (wk 1) - 1:1-31
2026/09/13
Jason Miller - At a time when technology, economics, and politics can leave us feeling anxious and disempowered, we're turning to a text in Scripture that comes, in part, from what might have been the most traumatic and disempowering experience suffered by the people of God. The book of Genesis invites us to a deeper perception of the goodness of the world and the power of our work within it.

2026/09/06
Dr. Angela R. Logan - The story of Jesus calming the storm appears in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Yet the circumstances surrounding Matthew's telling differ from those in Mark and Luke. What can Matthew's version tell us about God, ourselves, and how we can get through the storms in our lives?

Becky Ykema, Sonia Yuen, and Bill Born - We had the chance to have two brief conversations with some of our Table Leaders, Sonia Yuen and Bill Born. Sonia and Bill have been leading Table groups with their spouses for several years, and will continue to do so as we re-launch our Tables strategy. 2026/08/18
Becky Ykema and Jason Miller - If you've been following along with our Sunday teachings, you know we're relaunching our tables strategy this fall. Tables give us the chance to be together for a shared meal and some intentional conversation, but there's so much more to them. In this episode, Jason interviews Becky Ykema, our director of worship and formation, to help you learn more about what our SBCC tables will be like, and to consider whether you'd like to be a part of one.

8.9.26 [TEACHING] The Power of the Table (wk 1)
2026/08/10
Jason Miller - We're living in a moment that one journalist described as "The Anti-Social Century." And whether you feel the consequences of our growing disconnection or not, the decline in community and belonging is causing real problems for all of us. But what if this modern problem can be addressed by an ancient solution - a practice that has always been within reach for the Church?
If you're interested in joining a local Table this fall but have questions, stick around after either gathering on August 16th for an interest meeting. If you're a long-distance community member and want more information on our Table via Zoom, email Becky Ykema.
