Over time, these false narratives can quietly shape our hearts, fueling fear, control, or shame. This time of year invites us to bring those stories into the light. Jesus promises that truth leads to freedom, not condemnation. As we give up the lies we’ve learned to live by, God begins the renewing work of reshaping our minds and restoring our hearts.

Holding onto bitterness can feel justified, even protective, but it ends up being a prison. Forgiveness is hard—but it’s not about excusing the hurt; it’s about releasing its hold. As Paul closes his letter, he gives a surprising amount of attention to people—ordinary believers with extraordinary faithfulness. He names over two dozen individuals, reminding us that God’s work happens not just through apostles, but through households, coworkers, risk-takers, and hard workers. This week we’ll explore what it means to value people over platform, and how the Church grows through humble, relational investment.

As Paul wraps up his message to the Romans, he doesn’t just offer blessings—he asks for backup. Paul knows that gospel work is hard and that no one is called to do it alone. This week reminds us that while not all of us are called to preach or travel like Paul, all of us are called to link arms through prayer, encouragement, and generosity. The mission advances when the church moves shoulder to shoulder.

Paul reflects on his ministry calling—to preach the gospel where Christ has not been spoken. His driving ambition isn’t fame or comfort—it’s that people who’ve never heard would hear. Paul models a holy ambition: a life gripped by the gospel and compelled to share it. This week challenges us to consider what shapes our ambition. Are we content with comfort, or are we willing to live for something eternal—something that reaches beyond us?

In a world that celebrates individualism, Paul opens Romans 15 by calling the strong to bear with the failings of the weak. Not for the sake of tolerance, but for the sake of love and unity. Jesus didn’t live to please himself, and neither should we. This week challenges us to shift from personal preferences to shared purpose.

In Christ, we’re truly free. But that freedom comes with a responsibility: not to tear others down, but to build them up. Paul makes it clear that even if something isn’t wrong for you, it might become a stumbling block for someone else. And when that happens, love chooses restraint over rights. In a world obsessed with personal freedom, the way of Jesus calls us to something deeper. It calls us to a life of thoughtful, self-giving love. This week, we’ll explore what it means to choose restraint, not because we have to, but because we care deeply about people.

At the heart of Romans 14 is a powerful reminder: because we belong to Jesus we’re not responsible for managing someone else’s spiritual journey. Paul challenges us to let go of the impulse to control, critique, or correct people over disputable matters and instead entrust them to the God who sees their heart. When we release the need to fix others, we make space for God to move. His timeline, in His way. This week is a call to trust and have confidence in God's ongoing work.
