In this week’s message our Ministries Director, Faith Anderson, teaches from Colossians 2:6-23. Here, Paul warns the Colossian church to be aware of teachings disguised as wisdom and instead to build your life solely upon Christ Jesus. Upon this foundation, the Christian finds sure footing, as all other foundations are exposed for their inability to save.  Questions to dig deeper: What am I building on? What am I rooted in? In this message Pastor Chris teaches from Ch.2 V1 -5. Paul warns the new believers in Colosse to stay away from false beliefs, false theologies, and writes that the way for them to avoid them is to be ‘encouraged in heart’ and ‘united in love’. So what does that mean? How can we live as a people truly ‘encouraged’ and truly ‘united’? In this message, recorded live from Church Camp, Pastor Chris dives into Colossians 1: 15 - 23, exploring the Supremacy of Jesus - how He is above all things. All things were created by Him and for Him, so what does it mean to respond to the glory of God with the submission of our lives? How do we establish the Fear of God in our lives? What does it look like to build our lives on a firm foundation and what are the practices we can step into that will help us in the journey? In this message, Pastor Chris explores three such practices: Prayer, Fasting and Worship.  GRACE CAPITAL CITY: "Reaching, raising, and releasing disciples for the glory of the King and the coming of His Kingdom." www.gracecapitalcity.com | @gracecapitalcity Sunday Gatherings at 10 am | Miracle Theater | 535 8th St SE, Washington, DC

In this episode, Pastor Olu explores the spiritual discipline of confession and how it cultivates the fear of God. Drawing from the historic Pyongyang Revival and Psalm 51, he unpacks how confession invites us to tell the truth about our sin, come face-to-face with a holy God, and position ourselves to receive His mercy.  Ultimately, confession does not earn God’s forgiveness, but because of Jesus, we can step into the light with confidence and discover the beautiful paradox of Psalm 130:4: “With you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.” GRACE CAPITAL CITY: "Reaching, raising, and releasing disciples for the glory of the King and the coming of His Kingdom." www.gracecapitalcity.com | @gracecapitalcity Sunday Gatherings at 10 am | Miracle Theater | 535 8th St SE, Washington, DC

How does the Fear of God lead us to rest and lead us to contentment? In this message Pastor Chris teaches from Proverbs 19, inviting us to consider the wisdom of Solomon and the teachings of Jesus to find that which we souls crave in the only one who can actually provide it. At Mt. Sinai, an entire nation experienced  an encounter with God, provoking two responses. Israel cried out for distance; Moses walked into the cloud. Pastor Olu unpacks Exodus 19–20 shedding light to the difference between a fear that drives us from God and a fear that draws us near. In this message Pastor Chris teaches from the book of Job; a remarkable story about cosmic conversations and ramifications, the nature of suffering, the finiteness of our own understanding, and ultimately about the role our Fear of God can play in all of it. In this message, Pastor Chris and Pastor Kynan Brookes from Adelaide, Australia explore the generational and communal impact of the Fear of God. How does our right vision of God actually bless not just us, but also those around us and those who are yet to come.

In the lives of David and Saul, we see two Kings whose fear leads them to very different places: David’s fear of God, frees him to honor; while Saul’s fear of man, subjects him to insecurity. In this message, Pastor Chris explores how we can be a people who fear God and are freed to honor all people, no matter the circumstance.
