Our Lord challenges the Chief Priests and scribes of their self-righteousness by telling a parable of two sons who are asked to respond to their father's will - only the one who does what the father desires is responding to the will. So it is for us: we must do the will of God, which is often a next best step. #Catholic #homily #Scripture #GospelOfTheDay #mercywithteeth Sign up to have podcasts and blog posts emailed to you: http://eepurl.com/ioCgy2 Give feedback at https://forms.gle/gGhujv39g43BUxmK6 Readings are found at https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/092726.cfm True Mercy Has Teeth: A Catholic Journey to Forgiveness and Healing is now available on Amazon and other places as listed at www.mercywithteeth.com

Jesus shares a parable of a landowner who invites workers to his vineyard at various times of the day. When it comes to paying each, he starts with those who worked the shortest, and pays them the usual daily wage, and those who worked all day grumbled. The Master for just, but he may not have been fair. That's the point. God gives us what we truly need, Himself. #Catholic #homily #Scripture #GospelOfTheDay #mercywithteeth Sign up to have podcasts and blog posts emailed to you: http://eepurl.com/ioCgy2 Give feedback at https://forms.gle/gGhujv39g43BUxmK6 Readings are found at https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/092026.cfm True Mercy Has Teeth: A Catholic Journey to Forgiveness and Healing is now available on Amazon and other places as listed at www.mercywithteeth.com

After St. Peter asked how often he should forgive, our Lord tells a parable about a wicked debtor who owes and impossibly large amount (100,000,000 days wages) who begs for patience, but refuses to forgive the smaller debt (100 days wages) owed him. The King does not, as a result forgive the debt. The message is clear - release the debt. #Catholic #homily #Scripture #GospelOfTheDay #mercywithteeth Sign up to have podcasts and blog posts emailed to you: http://eepurl.com/ioCgy2 Give feedback at https://forms.gle/gGhujv39g43BUxmK6 Readings are found at https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/091326.cfm True Mercy Has Teeth: A Catholic Journey to Forgiveness and Healing is now available on Amazon and other places as listed at www.mercywithteeth.com

Jesus Christ speaks of His death and resurrection, and St. Peter objects, possibly because he had no understanding on the kind of Messiah that Jesus was to be. He had to surrender to the will of God, and so do we. #Catholic #homily #Scripture #GospelOfTheDay #mercywithteeth Sign up to have podcasts and blog posts emailed to you: http://eepurl.com/ioCgy2 Give feedback at https://forms.gle/gGhujv39g43BUxmK6 Readings are found at https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/083026.cfm True Mercy Has Teeth: A Catholic Journey to Forgiveness and Healing is now available on Amazon and other places as listed at www.mercywithteeth.com

Jesus asks the Disciples who they think He is, and Peter answers that He is the Christ. Jesus praises him, and gives him authority, an authority we understand to be as the vicar of Christ, the Pope. #Catholic #homily #Scripture #GospelOfTheDay #mercywithteeth Sign up to have podcasts and blog posts emailed to you: http://eepurl.com/ioCgy2 Give feedback at https://forms.gle/gGhujv39g43BUxmK6 Readings are found at https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/082326.cfm True Mercy Has Teeth: A Catholic Journey to Forgiveness and Healing is now available on Amazon and other places as listed at www.mercywithteeth.com

Jesus walks on water, and invites Peter to walk toward Him. When Peter stops focusing on the Lord, he begins to sink. It is an invitation for us to remember to listen to the Lord. #Catholic #homily #Scripture #GospelOfTheDay #mercywithteeth Sign up to have podcasts and blog posts emailed to you: http://eepurl.com/ioCgy2 Give feedback at https://forms.gle/gGhujv39g43BUxmK6 Readings are found at https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/080926.cfm True Mercy Has Teeth: A Catholic Journey to Forgiveness and Healing is now available on Amazon and other places as listed at www.mercywithteeth.com

Christ appears the Apostles, but St. Thomas was not with them the first Sunday of Easter. But his faith is affirmed when he sees the Risen Lord, and makes a bold proclamation: My Lord and my God". We may not experience the Lord in the same way as they did, but He is still giving Himself to us in the Eucharist. #Catholic #homily #Scripture #GospelOfTheDay #mercywithteeth Sign up to have podcasts and blog posts emailed to you: http://eepurl.com/ioCgy2 Give feedback at https://forms.gle/gGhujv39g43BUxmK6 Readings are found at https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/041226.cfm True Mercy Has Teeth: A Catholic Journey to Forgiveness and Healing is now available on Amazon and other places as listed at www.mercywithteeth.com

In the Entrance Gospel, we hear that the people cried Hosanna, looking for a messiah. Jesus is indeed the Messiah, but not the one they expected. In the Passion according to St. Matthew, the people cry out for our Lord to be crucified, and that His blood be on them on on their children, and that is what God the Father intends - that the blood of Jesus Christ be on them to save them, and all mankind. #Catholic #homily #Scripture #GospelOfTheDay #mercywithteeth Sign up to have podcasts and blog posts emailed to you: http://eepurl.com/ioCgy2 Give feedback at https://forms.gle/gGhujv39g43BUxmK6 Readings are found at https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/032926.cfm True Mercy Has Teeth: A Catholic Journey to Forgiveness and Healing is now available on Amazon and other places as listed at www.mercywithteeth.com
