Little Tweaks, Giant Peaks | Psalm 128
2026/10/18
We all want to be blessed: our homes, our marriages, our kids, our work. Where we differ is how we think we get it. Psalm 128 is six verses about the life God blesses, and it starts with reverence. Pastor Chad makes the case that reverence isn’t believing God exists. It’s living like God matters. Most of us want God’s protection without His direction, His provision without His priorities, and His blessing without His leadership. We choose our own path, then ask Him to bless it. But God is not obligated to bless a path you chose without Him. The good news is that most of us don’t need a massive life overhaul. We’ve drifted slightly out of alignment, one small step at a time. Reverence changes the way you walk, the way you work, and the way you watch over your home. And the blessing God gives was never meant to stop with you. It’s meant to be left in the next generation. ----------------------- Download our free Psalms journal and discussion guide at genesischurchorlando.com. 🙏 Go Deeper: 📥 Download the Psalms Journal & discussion guide: https://genesischurchorlando.com https://linktr.ee/genesischurchorlando 🎙️ Join us on the Post Sunday Podcast — LIVE Mondays 10:30am on Instagram & X, on-demand Tuesdays on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & YouTube
Desire Isn't Assignment | Psalm 127
2026/10/11
You can want something good for God and still be building the wrong thing. David wanted to build God a temple. He gathered the materials, and his heart was right. God said no. That was his son’s assignment, and David’s was bigger than he knew. Pastor Tim walks through Psalm 127, five verses written by Solomon, the son who got the job. He asks the question every builder is scared of: could you spend your whole life building something God never asked you to build? “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” Not meaningless. Empty of truth. You can be successful in everyone’s eyes and still be building in vain before God. Along the way: why most of us pray with God beside us instead of in front of us, what it means to count the cost, why the foundation always takes longer than the structure, and a Latin phrase carved above a window in Edinburgh: Nisi Dominus frustra. Without the Lord, in vain. The building was never the point. You were.
Dry Does Not Mean Dead | Psalm 126
2026/10/05
You've prayed and prayed, and nothing has changed. The marriage is still struggling. The kids are still wandering. The diagnosis is still there. Stay in a hard season long enough and it starts to convince you it's permanent. Psalm 126 is six verses, written for people who know what it's like to wait, to weep, and to watch God turn everything around. Pastor Chad preaches it from inside his own season of tears and walks through three ways to find joy in the middle of your pain: remember His faithfulness, request His restoration, and rely on His promise. The Negev is a dry, barren wasteland with no permanent rivers, right up until it rains. Then, in an instant, what looked dead is flooded. That's the picture behind verse 4. Dry does not mean dead. Some of us have put a period where God only wants a comma. And the tears you're sowing right now are not the end of the story.
Who Owns Your Mouth? | Psalm 12
2026/09/29
"Who is master over us?" That's not a line from an atheist. In Psalm 12, it's coming out of the mouths of God's own people. Pastor Tim opens a new stretch of the Psalms focused on spiritual formation. The psalmist cries out that the faithful have vanished. Not the religious, the faithful. People still call on God and still show up to church, but they speak with a "double heart," in the Hebrew literally a heart and a heart. One says what people want to hear. The other does whatever it wants. Then God stands up and speaks. His words are pure, like silver refined seven times, and they're what forms faithful people in a wicked generation. Your speech reveals your allegiance. Death and life are in the tongue. The question isn't what words you're allowed to say. It's who owns your mouth. Scripture: Psalm 12, Deuteronomy 6, Proverbs 18:21, Matthew 12:34-37, James 3.
Loud Songs, Hard Hearts | Psalm 95
2026/09/20
"If You would just do this, then I would." Most of us have prayed some version of it. Psalm 95 was written for the people who already got their answer, and still asked. Pastor Tim opens in Exodus 17, at a place called Massah and Meribah, where a nation that had watched ten plagues, walked through a parted sea, and eaten bread off the ground asked out loud, "Is the LORD among us or not?" Then he turns to Psalm 95 and shows you that the psalmist buried that story inside a worship song on purpose. The psalm starts loud. Sing. Shout. Make a joyful noise. Halfway through it drops to its knees. And then God Himself starts speaking, and it stops being a worship song and becomes a warning. Three layers of thanks: gratitude, acknowledgement, confession. Most of us only ever practice the first. And you can sing loudly in a service and still listen poorly to the voice of God. Scripture: Psalm 95, Exodus 15, Exodus 17, Numbers 14, Hebrews 3-4.
I'd Rather Be (Kickoff Sunday) | Psalm 84
2026/09/14
Nobody puts "doorkeeper" on a business card. Kickoff Sunday looked different this year. Worship and the Word together, and five pastors on one stage answering the same question: what actually makes this a lovely place to dwell? Psalm 84 was written by worship leaders. Temple platform, real titles, real influence. And what they wrote down was this: I'd rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Blessed doesn't mean comfortable. It means to flourish, to be deeply well-positioned. And whatever owns your heart will eventually direct your feet. Scripture: Psalm 84, Ephesians 4, Acts 1. Don't Mistake Speed for Strength | Psalm 92
2026/09/06
You walked in tired. Not sleepy — tired. There's a difference, and a three-day weekend isn't going to touch it. Labor Day started in 1883 with a crowd of people in New York City saying, "We are being worked to the bone and we cannot survive this." You don't work twelve-hour days seven days a week. But you walked in this weekend saying the exact same sentence they did. In this message, Pastor Tim opens Psalm 92 — the only psalm in all 150 written specifically for the Sabbath, and written not just to be read but to be sung. And instead of teaching about rest, we practiced it. This is a full hour of the church stopping together: writing down the season we're actually in, naming the Shepherd we actually need, declaring God's goodness out loud, singing, praying, and taking communion. The heart of it is a comparison David makes and most of us skip right past. The wicked, he says, flourish like grass. Green, fast, everywhere — and gone by the next season. The righteous flourish like a palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Palms take decades. Cedars take generations. And when the hurricane comes through, the palm is still standing. So when you look around and the people cutting corners seem to be winning, you have two choices. Chase their pattern and burn out running a race God never entered you in. Or plant yourself, dig your roots down, and flourish for a lot longer than a season. Don't mistake speed for strength. And don't mistake productivity for the presence of God. Because Sabbath didn't start in Egypt — it started in Eden. Before Adam ever lifted a finger, God told him to rest, and the reason was simple: God was already working before you got here, and He'll keep working when you're gone. You are not the one holding it together. This one is meant to be participated in, not just listened to. Get a card or open your notes app. Write the season you're in. Write the Shepherd you need. Write His goodness. Then stop. You Built God a Box | Psalm 23:6
2026/08/30
You didn't decide one day to shrink God. You just built columns — faith over here, work over there, money, marriage, entertainment — and only one of them has His name on it. Then you wondered why God felt distant in the rooms you locked. Pastor Tim Grandstaff closes a month in Psalm 23 with the verse most of us never finish. Along the way: a sheep found in Australia under ninety pounds of wool he could no longer walk under, what "goodness" and "mercy" actually mean in verse 6, and why the Hebrew says they aren't following you — they're chasing you. A faith you keep in one column was never what Psalm 23 was offering.
Your Mind is Infested | Psalm 23:5
2026/08/24
A nose fly lands on a sheep. It doesn't bite. It lays eggs in the sheep's nose, and the larvae travel up into its head — and the sheep, driven out of its mind by something it cannot shake loose, runs into dangerous places and beats its own skull against a tree until it kills itself. The shepherd's answer was oil. Poured over the head, before the season ever started. This message sits inside one verse of Psalm 23 and asks what David actually meant by "You anoint my head with oil" — and why that line lands so hard for anyone walking around with a mind that won't quiet down. Fear. Criticism. Comparison. Anxiety. Financial pressure. Unfinished conversations you keep rehearsing. Regret. Something at home nobody knows about yet. Along the way: why the only route to the tabletop runs through the valley, why the Shepherd takes His sheep in circles instead of straight up the mountain, why He arrives at the table months early to pull the weeds and drive out what's living there, and why the most dangerous threat to a flock isn't the wolf outside it — it's two sheep inside it. He never said the enemies would go away. He said He'd prepare a table in front of them, anoint your head, and fill your cup to the brim while they watch. Name it. Declare it. Release it. The Dark Is Where God Does His Best Work | Psalm 23:3-4
2026/08/16
"He restores my soul." We know the words. Most of us learned them young enough that we can rattle off the whole psalm forwards and backwards — which is exactly why we miss what's in it. In this message, Pastor PJ Charles sits inside two verses of Psalm 23 and asks the uncomfortable question underneath them: if God is leading me down the right path, why does the right path run through the valley of the shadow of death? Along the way: what restoration actually costs, the difference between being valuable and being valued, why Paul describes us as willing losers in a triumphal procession, what the Hebrew behind "valley of the shadow of death" really says, and why a seed has to be buried in the dark before it can grow toward the light. The takeaway isn't that the darkness will pass. It's that the darkness has a purpose — and if your Shepherd led you into it, He fully intends to walk you out of it. Restore. Refine. Repeat. Godfidence: When the Shepherd Is Yours
2026/08/09
"Am I gonna be okay?" If you've ever woken up with that question sitting on your chest, this one's for you. We're opening up Psalm 23 — probably the most famous chapter in the entire Bible — and Pastor Chad slows way down on just the first two verses. It starts with a steak dinner, a friend who spent 25 years selling fear for a living, and a word you'll be carrying all week: Godfidence. The confidence that doesn't come from the circumstances around you, but from the Shepherd who knows you, protects you, and directs you. If fear, uncertainty, and doubt have been running your mornings, let this be the week your soul finally lies down.
Savor: When Trouble Surrounds You | Psalm 20 PT.2
2026/08/02
Ever eaten a meal so fast you didn't actually taste it? Pastor Tim says we do that with Scripture — we consume it and move on, then wonder why it hasn't changed us. So this week, instead of moving to a new psalm, we go back to Psalm 20 and savor it. Along the way: what "trouble" really means in the original language, why the psalm names the God of Jacob, the banner you rally under when the battle comes, and why Psalm 20 was never meant to be read without Psalm 21.
Selah: When the Earth Gives Way | Psalm 20
2026/07/26
Some weeks the sermon you planned isn't the sermon you need. After a week of unexpected loss in our church family, Pastor Tim sets aside the schedule and opens Psalm 20 — a prayer for the day of trouble. Along the way we sit with one small Hebrew word, Selah, and learn why God invites us to pause, breathe, cry, and pray before the song continues. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

We say "it's all about Jesus" — but do we live like it? In this powerful message from our year-long journey through the Psalms, Pastor Tim opens Psalm 72, David's prayer over Solomon that points far beyond Solomon to a greater King whose name endures forever and whose fame outlasts the sun. ✨ In this message: Why Psalm 72 inspired the hymn "Hail to the Lord's Anointed" — and why it can only be about the MessiahYou can't have true justice without righteousness (Matthew 6:33)Righteousness isn't immediate — it's a lifestyle of consistent righteous choicesIn biblical thinking, a name reveals character, authority, and missionThe question that exposes your heart: Do you have God-sized stories or self-sized stories?Real God-sized stories: Ignite Sports & Arts, a first-ever young adult missions trip to Brazil, a men's retreat in Maine, Camp Bahamas, and a church in Germany 📖 Key Scriptures: Psalm 72 | Matthew 6:33 | Romans 12:2 💬 "May his name endure forever, his fame continue as long as the sun." — Psalm 72:17 Your life must be built on something bigger than yourself — because it declares His fame, not ours.
