HLC - Vivarium and Wrong Turn
2022/06/24
On this episode of the Westside Fairytales Horror and Lit Club we talk at length about two movies of dubious quality: The absolute relic of 2000s horror, Wrong Turn, and an extremely dull modern cosmic horror thriller called Vivarium. Sin Carriers 2 - Departure
2022/06/10
Previously, on Sin Carriers, we were introduced to a handful of our dramatis personae. The rogue killer, Su: A wild woman with a bloody past and a penchant for running astray of the law. Vasily, a morose Russian traveler whose wife unfortunately passed before their ship arrived on the American West Coast. Moira, a precocious young woman and sole child of Tolliver Loeb, whose company has been tasked with transporting an odd load of old ship wood east. This episode, we’re introduced to the rest of our party as they embark on a train ride toward bloodshed, misery, and horror! Knife-slingers, thieves on the lam, and, most frightening of all, a Catholic priest! Will these dangerous strangers make it to their destination without bloodshed? Just what sort of baggage are they bringing with them? And what mysteries lay in the wood? You may find the answer to these questions and more on this, the second episode of Sin Carriers. Departure! HLC - I Got Covid, The Exorcist as read by William Peter Blatty, and Stalker
2022/05/27
I ain't dead, goddammit. This month's (technically belated) HLC featuring yours truly talking about contracting and fighting off COVID, the worst god damn audiobook I've ever listened to (and still haven't finished), and one of the best movies I've ever seen. Thank you again to everybody who sent me well wishes while I was convalescing. It really did make these last couple of weeks easier. I'm probably making a full recovery, and I can still taste everything, so hopefully my diligence in avoiding the early outbreak and getting the vaccine will prevent any long-covid b******t from interfering with my work. Sin Carriers 1 - Into the Wood
2022/05/06
In the years following the end of a wild, free America, a group of misfits, killers, and criminals gather in a city on America's west coast, soon to travel east by rail in each other's company. Bound by horrific pasts, untoward inclinations, and nightmarish delights, these men and women will find themselves pushed to their absolute limits as they face each other, themselves, and the terrors of the American West. HLC - Yellow Jackets, Elden Ring, and "Come With Me" by Ronald Malfi
2022/04/01
Today's episode covers the excellent first season of Showtime's "Yellowjackets," the extremely mid horror/mystery novel "Come With Me" by Ronald Malfi, and my addiction to what's probably the best open world game ever released, "Elden Ring." I also give a few hints as to what's to come next with the fiction part of the podcast, so check us out! HLC - "Dexter" the worst best show ever
2022/01/21
I recently finished the "Dexter" reboot "New Blood" about a week ago and I wanted to talk about Dexter's eight-year-long run and review the earlier seasons, give my impressions and talk about how the show failed to deliver in the later seasons. I also do a full review of "New Blood" and give an extensive run down on the imaginary eight season I would have preferred "The People Versus Dexter Morgan." Enjoy!
