Howie Abrams & Pete Koller (Heavy Heaving. Sick Of It All)
2025/12/23
Available now on all platforms here: https://linktr.ee/thebrooklynblastfurnace It's been almost four months since I recorded an episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast. I can't think of a better way to end the hiatus with these two gentlemen. Howie Abrams and Pete Koller, ladies and gentlemen. We set this up in order to discuss the "For the Love of Lou: The Brooklyn Way" benefit show that Howie and I put together, along with any updates on our friend Lou Koller, and the Heavy Healing Film . We discuss all of that, as well as what's been going on with the guys in Sick Of It All since we all got the horrible news about Lou's cancer. The show is on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Lucky 13 Saloon in Brooklyn. Online tickets sold out in 54 minutes, but there will be fifty tickets (no more, no less) available at the door. First come, first serve. Please consider donating to one of the two official sites for Lou Koller and his fight against cancer. Chris Fist (Clenched Fist NYC)
2025/08/13
After a little hiatus, the podcast is back with my guest, my man, Chris Fist. Chris has been in the hardcore scene since the first wave of bands in New York City. A founding member of Clenched Fist NYC, as well as playing in everyone from Life's Blood, Mental Abuse, Breakdown, and The Wilding Incident. He was in a bar in Brooklyn with a special appearance from our friend Zak. This isn't even an interview at all. It's a crazy funny conversation that constantly goes off the rails. So strap in and know beforehand that this one is chaotic. Much respect! Anthony Russo & Big Rob Castoria (The Mamaluke Show)
2025/05/26
The Mamaluke Show starring Anthony Russo, Rob Castoria, and yours truly. After recording separate episodes with these guys, we had a text thread going on and decided to combine our idiotic behavior and do an episode with the three of us. So here it is. A bunch of nonsensical banter, along with a couple of serious topics as well. We talk a bit about the All day Barbecue/Benefit show I am currently putting together at Lucky 13 Saloon for Robs mom, as well as touch on the fact that our friend Lou Koller is currently cancer-free. Then, we dive back into insignificant ramblings of mental patients. Enjoy. Craig Setari (Sick Of It All)
2025/05/05
My friend Craig Ahead is the guest on this episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast (Group). He's been on several times in the past, but it's been a while. We pretty much catch up on what's been going on with him since Sick Of It All is on a temporary hiatus due to the unfortunate situation with Lou. We touch on his run with Marky Ramone and JUDGE for a moment and head right back into some nonsensical banter about food, his ancient Chinese secret meatball recipe, and some boxing talk. Always one of my favorite people to hang and bullshit with. Enjoy. Nate Holley (Vile Mind. Huntington Music Collective. Prestige Tattoo & Piercing)
2025/04/28
Nate Holly is my guest on this episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace. A short, twenty-second video that came across my feed caught my attention. It turns out the clip was of their first ever show a couple of months ago. I needed to know the story behind this band and the heavily tattooed man singing with a buck knife on his hip. So, I reached out. Vile Mind is just a few months old, and they've been making noise in the Huntington, West Virginia area, and due to that video clip, a lot of people are aware of them now. Nate couldn't have been a nicer, more gracious guy. A tattoo artist at Prestige Tattoo & Piercing, a father as well as a man with over a dozen years of sobriety under his belt. He helped create the Huntington Music Collective, which is a grassroots, DIY movement that brings hardcore shows to the area. An area that has been decimated by drugs over the years, he has created a positive space for kids and adults alike to come and hang out without drugs or alcohol. I'm glad I reached out to him. I'm sure he'll be back on with another member of Vile Mind once their first EP drops next month. The utmost respect to him and what he is doing in Huntington, West Virginia. Anthony Russo Jr. (A Breed Apart NYHC)
2025/04/17
Available now everywhere here: https://linktr.ee/thebrooklynblastfurnace I have no idea why he hasn't been on the show several years ago, at least a couple of times. This was way overdue. My guest is my boy Anthony Russo, Jr. He is the singer for New York Hardcore band, A Breed Apart. We go on and on about hardcore, how social media ruined a lot of shit, the days from when I was booking shows at Lucky 13 Saloon and a ton of other banter. We probably could've babbled on for another couple of hours easily. One thing is for sure, there's not many of us left. So, sit back and listen to how neither of us has a Brooklyn accent whatsoever. Mark Thousands (Ritualized. Leeway NYC. Comin' Correct. The Casting Out. Hard Response)
2025/03/29
Available now on all platforms here: https://linktr.ee/thebrooklynblastfurnace My guest is a man I've known now for close to a decade. I'm surprised he hasn't been on earlier. He's played in Leeway NYC/The Eddie Leeway Show, Hard Response, The Casting Out, Comin' Correct and besides being a solo artist and collaborating with Keith Caputo, he has a new band called Ritualized. We are all over the place in this rather long episode. From hardcore to road trips to movies and guilty pleasure songs, we run through a lot! Sit back and enjoy. This was a lot of fun to do. Respect. Artie Alexander (Fire Is Murder. Damn Your Eyes. Leeway NYC)
2025/03/20
Available Now everywhere: https://linktr.ee/thebrooklynblastfurnace My guest this time around is the guitarist for Fire Is Murder and Damn Your Eyes. He also played with Eddie Sutton in the last few years of Leeway NYC. Ladies and gentlemen... Artie Alexander. He's an incredible musician and an all-around good guy. We discuss the aforementioned bands, we talk a little about Eddie, along with the tribute show that I had put together in his honor. Artie played a huge part in that event. We b******t about how none of the things that we currently do would be possible without being sober. Artie should've been on the podcast much earlier, better late than never. I'm sure he'll be back again. Enjoy. Support: Generation Records 210 Thompson Street West Village, NYC Intro: Phil LoCastro & Joseph A. Cassar Intro Visuals: Marc Kutik Edits: Nick Light

His new movie, "Director's Cut," is now up on all streaming platforms. Ladies and gentlemen, Don Capria. Owner and founder of OneTenCrew films and 110 Artist Management. We talk about his awesome new film and the horror genre as well as his book, Colombo Book. He played drums in Blindside and Skarhead, and we delved into a discussion about hardcore. Being a huge fan of everything horror, serial killer, and mafia related topics, this was a lot of fun to do. Go check out "Director's Cut" now. The cast is great, and Louis Lombardi kills it. Lenny Bednarz (Crazy Eddie. Fahrenheit 451. District 9)
2025/02/07
Yo! Available Now everywhere: https://linktr.ee/thebrooklynblastfurnace *Disclaimer* This is a long one! Strap in, kids. You have been warned.— in Forest Hills. Lenny Bednarz and I sat down for a marathon conversation... we touch on everything from growing up in old New York City to his bands, Without A Cause, Fahrenheit 451 NYHC, District9 BXHC, his short-lived stint in the pop-punk band, Well, excuse me, Princess into Crazy Eddie NYHC. We touched on the part he played in Grand Theft Auto IV: Liberty City. We go back into old New York City to movies, then back to bands, then start discussing our mutual love for cemeteries. Mixed within all of these are random side conversations about how the soul and feel of NYC has either changed or is gone altogether. And of course we mention how our friends parents had the right to slap us and that there was always that one kid that wouldn't tell anybody that he went home and stayed in while playing manhunt, jackin' up the entire game. This was awesome to do, and I'm sure we'll wind up doing another episode. We could've gone for another couple of hours easily. His move back to Buffalo from Los Angeles, and we discuss our mutual love for Leeway and a bunch of other random topics. Always cool to shoot the shit with Vogel. Matt Henderson (Madball. Agnostic front. The Eulogy. H2O. Blind Approach)
2025/01/28
My guest is a legendary figure in the hardcore scene. With a resume that spans forty years. He's played in bands such as Blind Approach, Agnostic Front, Madball, The Eulogy, and currently H2O. Ladies and gentlemen, Matt Henderson. We run through his entire history from growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the formation of Blind Approach to playing CBGB's and planting the seeds to lifelong friendships with future members of some of the bands he wound up playing in. He then decided to move to Boston to go to school from Minnesota and, with the friendships made in the past, opened the doors to joining Agnostic Front. From there, the rest is history. Sit back and enjoy this history lesson. Respect. Support: Generation Records 210 Thompson Street West Village, NYC Intro: Phil LoCastro & Joseph A. Cassar Intro Visuals: Marc Kutik Edits: Nick Light

Danielle Dombrowski (Hardcore Photographer. Business Owner)
2025/01/27
I finally had the chance to sit down with my friend, Danielle Dombrowski. She's been photographing hardcore and metal shows since the mid-90s, owns a successful hair salon, and also does wedding photography. We discuss what made her step into the hardcore scene, where she grew up, and some of the earliest shows she shot. With hundreds of shows under her belt and thousands of photos to show for it, her craft is second to none. This was a cool, laid-back conversation. I hope you enjoy.
