What Are You Really Trusting God With?
2026/09/30
What does the way we handle money and possessions reveal about our relationship with God? In this episode of Cornerstone Conversations, Pastor Josh talks honestly about biblical stewardship, generosity, tithing, and the difference between seeing ourselves as owners versus stewards of what God has placed in our hands. The conversation explores why generosity is ultimately a heart issue, what it means to give God our first and our best, and how trusting God with our resources can become part of bearing His image in the world. They also dig into some of the questions Christians regularly ask about money and faith: Is tithing still biblical for Christians today? What does the Bible teach about first fruits and generosity? How should a Christian think about possessions, scarcity, abundance, budgeting, and giving to the local church? From Malachi 3 and Matthew 25 to practical stories of missions, benevolence, food pantries, and personal obedience, this conversation challenges us to search Scripture for ourselves and consider what God may want to do through what He has already entrusted to us.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? Our Possessions | Pastor Josh Hersey | In His Image
2026/09/28
What does the Bible really say about money, possessions, generosity, and stewardship? In the final message of In His Image, Pastor Josh Hersey explores what it means to follow Jesus with everything God has entrusted to us. Through 1 Timothy 6, Psalm 24, Cain and Abel, the rich young ruler, and Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6, we see that God is not asking us to reject the things we have. He is inviting us to make sure our possessions never have us. The shift from ownership to stewardship changes the way we view our money, resources, generosity, security, and ultimately our relationship with God. Where our treasure goes, our heart follows. So what are we looking to money and possessions to provide that only Jesus can truly give? Comfort, recognition, experiences, influence, independence, security, pleasure, and control can all feel like life, but they cannot give us the life that is truly life. This message challenges us to live with open hands, trust God instead of our circumstances, and remember that everything we have is from Him, through Him, and for Him.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? You Become Who You’re Around
2026/09/23
The people around you matter more than you may realize. In this episode of Cornerstone Conversations, Pastor Josh talks about why God never designed us to follow Jesus alone, how relationships shape the people we become, and why choosing the right community is such an important part of discipleship. They unpack everything from isolation, vulnerability, friendship, boundaries, and finding your people to mentors, peers, apprentices, accountability, and having people in your life who love you enough to encourage you and correct you. If you have ever struggled to find meaningful friendships, wondered whether certain relationships are helping or hurting you, or wanted to become more intentional about who has influence in your life, this conversation is for you.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? Our People | Pastor Josh Hersey | In His Image
2026/09/21
Who you do life with is shaping who you are becoming. In “Our People,” part of the In His Image series, Pastor Josh Hersey unpacks what the Bible says about friendships, Christian community, church attendance, spiritual influence, and why following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. From Genesis 2:18 and Proverbs 13:20 to 1 Corinthians 12, this message asks a simple but important question: Are the people around you helping you become more like Jesus? Pastor Josh explores how to walk with the wise, recognize when a relationship is pulling you away from God, receive correction from people who genuinely love you, find your place in the body of Christ, and choose unity over personal preference. He also talks practically about groups, serving, church connection, and Jesus’ words in John 13:34–35 that our love for one another would show the world that we are His disciples.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? Are Your Passions From God?
2026/09/16
What are you naturally good at? What makes you come alive? What breaks your heart enough that you feel like you have to do something about it? Those things may be pointing toward something deeper about the way God designed you. In this episode of Cornerstone Conversations, Pastor Josh continues the *In His Image* conversation by looking at our passions, gifts, hobbies, abilities, and desires, and asking how they can become ways we reflect the image of God in everyday life. They also dig into an important tension: not every desire should lead us. How can we tell the difference between something God has wired into us and something that has been distorted by selfishness, culture, or sin? From careers and hobbies to leadership, ministry, family, and even the moments that drain us, this conversation explores how to keep Jesus first, recognize the gifts already in our hands, and understand why following God's design will sometimes require sacrifice instead of simply doing what feels good.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? Our Passions | Pastor Josh Hersey | In His Image
2026/09/14
God did not make you randomly. He formed you with intention, wired you with a temperament, personality, interests, and passions, and through the Holy Spirit has given you gifts meant to bless the people around you. In this message from In His Image, Pastor Josh Hersey explores what Scripture says about being made on purpose for a purpose, how to separate God given design from character flaws that still need growth, and why understanding who God made you to be is part of learning to bear His image well. Walking through Genesis 2, Psalm 139, 2 Peter 1, Romans 12, and 1 Corinthians 10, Josh unpacks identity in Christ, spiritual gifts, Christian purpose, serving others, and the lies that try to pull us away from who God says we are. If you have ever wondered what you are passionate about, what your gifts are, or how God wants to use the way He wired you, this message gives you three simple questions to consider: What excites you? What fills you up? What breaks your heart?   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? We would love to connect with you. The Truth About Calling, Career, and Purpose
2026/09/09
What do you do when you hate your job, feel overlooked, have a terrible boss, or genuinely believe God has something bigger for your life? In this episode of Cornerstone Conversations, Pastor Josh, Trevor, and Dylan have an honest conversation about faith, work, calling, purpose, and what it actually means to work unto the Lord. They talk about difficult jobs, dream jobs, seasons that feel like a grind, knowing when it may be time to move on, and recognizing that God may be shaping something in you long before you can see what He is preparing you for. The conversation also challenges the idea that some jobs are spiritual while others are simply ordinary. Whether you are a pastor, teacher, mechanic, nurse, parent, business owner, employee, or working a job you never imagined yourself doing, you can represent Jesus right where you are. Your workplace can become a place where God develops your character, uses your influence, teaches you faithfulness, and allows you to care for people who may never walk into a church. If you have ever wondered, “Why am I still here?” “Is God calling me to something more?” or “How can God use me in this job?” this conversation is for you. Our Profession | Pastor Josh Hersey | In His Image
2026/09/07
What does God actually think about your job? Is one profession more spiritual or meaningful than another? And what if you feel stuck, overlooked, frustrated, or like what you do every day does not really matter? In Part 3 of In His Image, Pastor Josh Hersey explores the biblical theology of work and shows that work was not created because of the fall. Work was part of God’s design from the beginning. From Genesis 2 to Ephesians 2 and Colossians 3, Scripture reveals that our jobs, careers, businesses, classrooms, homes, job sites, and everyday responsibilities can all become places where we reflect the character and image of God. Whether you love your job, hate your job, are looking for work, building a business, staying home with your kids, chasing a promotion, or wondering what comes next, this message will challenge the way you see your profession. Pastor Josh talks about Christian work ethic, finding purpose in your current season, refusing to diminish your value, representing Jesus in a difficult workplace, and making sure your identity is rooted in being a son or daughter of God rather than a title, paycheck, or position. Ultimately, our work does not save us. Jesus accomplished the work we could never accomplish, and because of His finished work, we are free to live and work as His image bearers in the world.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? What Does It Mean to Pursue Jesus?
2026/09/02
What does it actually mean to pursue Jesus, and how do you know if you are growing in a real relationship with Him instead of simply collecting more information about Him? In this episode of Cornerstone Conversations, Pastor Josh and the guys talk honestly about what pursuing Jesus looks like in everyday life, from reading the Bible and prayer to Christian community, spiritual disciplines, and discovering the rhythms that help turn our affection toward God. They also wrestle with an important distinction for every follower of Jesus: knowing about Jesus is not the same as knowing Jesus. Knowledge matters, Scripture matters, and understanding God’s Word matters, but that knowledge should eventually produce resemblance. If we are learning more about Jesus while becoming less loving, gracious, patient, and whole, something has become disconnected. This conversation explores biblical discipleship, how to grow closer to God, where new Christians can begin reading the Bible, practical tools for Bible study, the importance of Christian community, and how a genuine relationship with Jesus begins to change the way we actually live.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? Our Pursuit | Pastor Josh Hersey | In His Image
2026/08/31
What does it actually mean to seek God first? And how do we become more like Jesus instead of simply knowing more about Him? In Part 2 of In His Image, Pastor Josh Hersey explores what Jesus meant when He said, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness” in Matthew 6:33. Looking at Genesis 4 and the story of Cain and Abel, we see that the difference between the two brothers was deeper than the offerings they brought. It was about what had first place in their hearts. Abel gave God his first and best, while Cain approached God on his own terms. This message challenges us to examine what we are truly pursuing with our time, relationships, money, ambitions, forgiveness, sexuality, and everyday decisions. You’ll also discover what it means to pursue God, why Ecclesiastes says eternity has been planted in the human heart, and why Jesus’ invitation to “follow Me” is about more than learning information. A disciple follows Jesus closely enough to actually become like Him. If you’ve been asking How do I put God first? What does Matthew 6:33 mean? Why did God accept Abel’s offering but not Cain’s? How do I grow closer to Jesus? What is biblical discipleship? How do I become more like Christ? this message will help you understand that spiritual formation begins with what you seek first.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? You’re Not “Just” Anything | Finding Your God-Given Purpose
2026/08/26
What is your God-given purpose, and how do you actually live it out in everyday life? In this episode of Cornerstone Conversations, Trevor, Pastor Josh, and Dylan unpack what it really means to be created in the image of God and why your purpose is much bigger than your job title, career, ministry position, or platform. Whether you are a pastor, mechanic, nurse, teacher, construction worker, stay at home parent, business owner, or somewhere in between, your everyday life has significance because you were created to bear the image of God and represent His character to the world around you. The conversation explores the Imago Dei, Christian purpose, vocation and calling, the false divide between sacred and secular work, spiritual formation, abiding in Jesus, Christian community, and how spending time with God gradually changes the way we think, speak, love, and live. They even dig into the “chameleon effect,” the tendency we have to unconsciously imitate the people we spend time around, and connect it to what happens when a follower of Jesus continually spends time in Scripture, God's presence, and healthy Christian community.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? Our Purpose | Pastor Josh Hersey | In His Image
2026/08/24
What is my purpose? How do I know if I am actually living the life God created me to live? In Part 1 of In His Image, Pastor Josh Hersey goes back to Genesis 1 to uncover the biblical foundation of our purpose: we were created in the image of God to know Him, become like Him, and reflect Him to the world around us. Instead of building our identity around happiness, success, career, possessions, feelings, or the expectations of other people, Scripture gives us something much deeper and more lasting. Through Genesis 1:26–27, Colossians 3:1–10, John 10:10, and 2 Corinthians 3:16–18, this message explores what it means to be made in the image of God, how the enemy distorts our identity through lies and false definitions of purpose, what it means to find our true life in Christ, and how the Holy Spirit is transforming believers to become more and more like Jesus. The service concludes with a powerful story about a “plus one,” salvation, and public baptisms celebrating people who have put their old life behind them and are walking in new life with Christ. If you have ever asked, “What is God’s purpose for my life?” “Who am I in Christ?” “What does it mean to be created in God’s image?” or “How do I find my identity in Jesus?” this message is for you.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? The Life God Actually Wants for You
2026/08/19
What if the struggle you keep fighting isn’t actually the problem, but a symptom of something deeper? Pastor Corey Alley joins Pastor Josh for a wide ranging conversation about hearing God in the noise, navigating the pain of ministry, staying rooted in Christ, and discovering an identity that is bigger than our struggles. Corey shares how Psalm 1 and the biblical imagery of trees, rivers, and living water began speaking to him during one of the hardest seasons of his pastoral ministry, and how remaining connected to the source changes the way we walk through pain. The conversation also gets deeply personal as Corey shares his story of drug addiction, an overdose, meeting Jesus through a small local church, relapse, and the moment surrender changed the direction of his life. Josh and Corey talk about addiction and recovery, the prodigal son, shame, Christian identity, vulnerability, community, God’s love, and why our deepest struggles may be symptoms of wounds God wants to heal. If you have ever wrestled with discouragement, repetitive cycles, failure, addiction, or wondering how God sees you in the middle of your mess, this conversation is for you.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? Defend The Weak | Sunday August 16, 2026
2026/08/16
What does it really mean for Christians to defend the weak, care for the poor, and stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves? During Compassion Weekend at Church on the Rock, Pastor Josh Hersey shares the biblical call found in Psalm 82:3 to “defend the weak and the fatherless” and explores what that looks like practically through generosity, missions, and child sponsorship with Compassion International. Josh also shares powerful firsthand stories from his trip to Tanzania, including meeting his sponsored child, Siobhan, and seeing how access to food, clean water, education, a local church, and the gospel can transform not only one child’s life but an entire family. Through Psalm 82:3, Matthew 25:34–40, 2 Corinthians 9:7, and Matthew 5:3, this message challenges us to see generosity not as guilt, pressure, or an emotional response, but as obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Whether God leads you to sponsor a child, become more engaged with a child you already sponsor, support global missions, or simply see poverty differently, the invitation is the same: listen to God and respond. And ultimately, this message points beyond physical poverty to the gospel itself, reminding us that every one of us was spiritually helpless until Jesus rescued us, brought us into His family, and gave us a hope we could never provide for ourselves.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? When God Gets a Hold of a Man
2026/08/12
What happens when God gets a hold of one man? In this episode of Cornerstone Conversations, Pastor Josh sits down with James Griffin, Lead Pastor of Cross Point City Church, for an honest conversation about discipleship, leadership, ministry, biblical manhood, and what it takes to remain faithful as God increases your influence. James shares the remarkable story of stepping into a wounded church, watching God bring it back to life, navigating the growing weight of leadership, protecting his marriage and family, handling criticism, and learning to carry greater responsibility with thick skin and a tender heart. The conversation eventually turns to James’s own family and the story of how God radically saved his father, changing the trajectory of generations that followed. James and Josh discuss why men matter in the home and the church, what biblical masculinity actually looks like, and Cross Point City Church’s four pillars of biblical manhood: lover, leader, protector, and provider. Whether you are a pastor, ministry leader, husband, father, or simply someone who wants to follow Jesus faithfully, this conversation is a powerful reminder that leadership is not ultimately about platform, popularity, or influence. It is about becoming the kind of person God can trust with what He has placed in your hands.   New here or made a decision to follow Jesus today? We would love to connect with you.
