Podcast Life Update April 2026
2026/04/29
Hello Everyone,
Angela here, of the former podcasts Punky Power and Looking Back On My Wonder Years Podcast.
Today, I dive into what's been going on in my life, a recent and ongoing health scare that I'm still trying to get answers to and starting my journey as I began my walk with Jesus.
I go on to open up to how the Lord has continued to bless me every morning when I wake up and work on letting go and letting God lead me in renewing my faith, building up my strength, and focusing on Him.
I also talk about how ten years after purchasing a Bible, I finally opened it just after Easter and began reading the Books Of Gospels, Mark, and Luke and then jumping back to Matthew and finishing up with the Book of John. I will continue reading through the New Testament and then jump to the Beginning with Genesis.
If you all would like to follow me on this journey, I appreciate and would welcome the company.
Have a Blessed Day!
Bitter Blood/In The Best Of Families: Marriage, Pride and Madness TV Movie (1994) Review
2026/04/26
Hello Everyone,
Angela here, the host of Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast.
Today, I covered a TV Movie from the 1990's. It's has two different titles, In The Best of Families: Marriage , Pride and Madness, or the title I'm most familiar with is Bitter Blood.
This movie stars Keith Carradine (Andre) and Kelly McGillis (Top Gun and Witness fame) and Harry Hamlin (I only know him from this movie even though he was in other things).
Movie Synopsis:
This movie was considered one of those movie of the week type that aired back in 1994, it was a mini series split up over two days.
This movie is based on real people and events surrounding a divorcee who becomes involved in a romantic relationship with her first cousin. This Southern belle's bitter divorce and relationship with her quirky cousin result in horrific tragedy for many innocent people.
This movie centers around the courtship and marriage of Susie Newsome of North Carolina and Tom Leary from Kentucky. His last name was changed for the film. Then after separating from Tom, Susie along with their two sons John and Jim move back to North Carolina, she later files for divorce from Tom leading to a bitter custody battle over the two boys.
A few years later Tom remarries and Susie begins a relationship with her first cousin Fritz.
As the custody battle rages on, Susie begins to become more involved with Fritz's views of how he sees the world, complete with guns, bunkers and end of the world talk.
In all of this many people's lives are taken, first Tom's mother and sister Janie are killed in Kentucky and then Susie's parents and grandmother, just before the hearing for the custody of the two boys who this whole time live in fear of what will happen to themselves while in their mother in Fritz's care.
Tom's been trying to get sole custody of the boys and making sure they're being properly taken care of after previous visits with the boys showed visible signs of neglect at the hands of their mother.
Everything culminating to a horrific conclusion. Leaving the audience on the edge of their seat and jaws on the floor.
I hope you all enjoy this podcast episode, just be aware, this one is about 5 hours long.
Small Wonder: S4E21: The Tattletale, S4E22: The Strike, S4E23: See No Evil S4E24: Thy Neighbor's Wife
2025/06/14
Hey Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.
Well, after 6 years of covering all the episodes of the show Small Wonder, we've finally reached the end of the Series with the four final episodes of Season 4.
Today, I covered S4E21: The Tattletale, which aired on April 29, 1989.
In this episode a gossip reporter reveals Vicki's secret. I was a little surprised by this episode, because I just assumed the reporter was a woman, when it turns out to be someone who went to college with Ted and Joan. This was creative and had Harriet, Jamie and Reggie dressed like Vicki towards the end of the episode and doing a song and dance routine.
S4E22: The Strike, which aired on May 6, 1989.
In this episode Ted's union strike inspires the whole family. This episode also has a side plot of the kids in Jamie's class going on strike after their demands are not met, one of these demands is allowing the kids to bring their pets to school in a daycare situation. Interesting, Joan meets them halfway and tells them they can have a pet day show and tell once a month.
The vending machine part of their demands is a kid wish list of things they wish they could have in school.
Ted's demands from his co workers to the Union board aren't wrong, increase percentage in profit sharing and more coverage for dental as well as a pay increase. Normal things any employee would want.
S4E23: See No Evil, which aired on May 13, 1989.
In this episode Vicki's eyesight is failing, so she cannot identify bike thieves.
This was a goofy episode, Vicki wearing eyeglasses, granted it's understandable, things wear out and often need to be replaced. Ted gets Jamie a new bike, which then proceeds to get stolen in the schoolyard and Vicki has to help identify the thieves based on their voices.
This episode was just ok.
and finally the last episode of Season 4 and the final episode of the show.
S4E24: Thy Neighbor's Wife, which aired on May 20, 1989.
In this episode Joan poses as Mrs. Brindle to impress a businessman.
I hated this episode because it centered around Brandon and him trying to impress a Japanese businessman because he wants to hire a "family man" and after a fight with Bonnie who takes Harriet and moves into a hotel, Brandon is in a bind and begs Joan to pretend to be Bonnie, he even has Joan and Vicki dress in what now a days would be considered racially insensitive kimonos and delivering lines that would not pass for appropriate by todays TV standards.
Ted was written out for most of the episode for a flight to Texas, but then comes back in the last 5 minutes. Richard Christie (Ted Lawson) actually directed this final episode. He did a good job.
Well, there you have it, I hope you all enjoy these last episodes of the show and thank you so much for listening to this podcast on Small Wonder for the last 6 years.
Have a great Summer everyone!
Small Wonder S4E17: More About L.E.S., S4E18: Hooray For Hollyweird!, S4E19: Minnesota Vicki, S4E20: Vicki Doolittle
2025/06/01
Hello Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.
Today I covered S4E17: More About L.E.S., which aired on February 4, 1989.
In this episode L.E.S. is back, and despite Ted's assurances that the rogue A.I. program has been rendered harmless, it comes back in a big way by possessing Vicki's body as its own.
Honestly, this episode was a dud. I didn't care about L.E.S. when I first met him and I was pissed off that Ted didn't learn his lesson from the first time.
We see this same thing happen in the next episode S4E18: Hooray For Hollyweird!, which aired on February 11, 1989.
In this episode Ted's robot, Vanessa, wreaks havoc in Hollywood.
This was the episode I was most looking forward to and I kind of wish we got more Vanessa. It was nice to see Tiffany Brissette, stretch her acting legs and speak normally when she has to do a robot voice 99% percent for of the show's run. This episode was over too quickly.
S4E19: Minnesota Vicki, which aired on February 18, 1989.
In this episode To land a new promotion with the boss, Mr. Jennings, Ted invites him to dinner and a playful game of pool until Jennings starts betting the shirt off his back, and a lot more, playing against Vicki.
If we took out Brandon, this would have been a better episode, Ted's boss is a major dumb butt, he plays pool with Vicki and almost loses his house betting against her.
We don't see Brandon get fired, I wish that would have happened, apparently this episode the writer's love to crap on Ted's character always vying for a promotion he will never get because Brandon is also vying for it. Also how many bosses does Ted have, between Brandon, Mr. Jennings's son and Mr. Jennings himself. Good grief!
and an adorable episode S4E20: Vicki Doolittle, which aired on February 25, 1989.
In this episode Ted installs a new language translation device (Random Access Multiple Concurrent Linguistic Analytical Sequencer) into Vicki that enables her to understand any language, including even animals', like the boss' dog; Mrs. Jennings forces Mr. Jennings to fire Ted when Joan balks at doing uncredited work for an affair.
This was a cute episode and Mrs. Jennings gets her comeuppance, finally.
I hope you enjoy the episodes and I'll see you in June for the final 4 of Season 4 and the final 4 of the Series as we wrap up this podcast finally, 6 years later.
Small Wonder S4E13: The Jailbirds, S4E14: Rags to Riches, S4E15: Radio Days, S4E16: Kid-O-Grams
2025/05/02
Hey Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.
Today, I covered S4E13: The Jailbirds, which aired on January 7, 1989.
In this episode, Jamie and Vicki are arrested for spray-painting a wall--and its owner's $60 shirt.
This was a fun episode. I love the lesson that Ted and Joan teach Jamie and Vicki also the female cop was played by Jo Marie Payton who later went on to play Harriet Winslow on Family Matters.
S4E14: Rags to Riches, aired on January 14, 1989.
In this episode Vicki and Jamie invent a cleaning solution. This episode is pretty much a Jamie get rich quick scheme that gets out of hand when he gets in over his head and it only gets worse when he Brandon and Harriet get involved.
S4E15: Radio Days, which aired on January 21, 1989.
In this episode Jamie produces a radio play about World War II.
This was a creative episode, mostly the last 10 minutes was the best part.
S4E16: Kid-O-Grams, which aired on January 28, 1989.
In this episode Jamie starts up a singing-telegram business.
This was a fun episode with the telegram business and the songs that were created were catchy. Vicki and Harriet's outfits at the end were cute.
Small Wonder S4E9: My Favorite Martian, S4E10:Mommie Dearest, S4E11: No Laughing Matter, S4E12: Tag, You're It
2025/04/07
Hey Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.
Today, I covered S4E9: My Favorite Martian, which aired on November 19, 1988.
In this episode Brandon sees Vicki's hologram of an alien spaceship. Just Brandon being a massive dum dum per usual. The family decides to have fun with him by using Vicki to pretend she's an alien, after Brandon alerts (what I refer to thanks to the show ALF) as the ATF (Alien Task Force) to investigate this strange phenomenon. Vicki the alien tells Brandon that if he says he never saw any spaceship than her kind will make him King of their planet, he of course buys this charade and pretends he didn't see anything. Weird episode, but a bit better than the other 3.
S4E10: Mommie Dearest, which aired on November 26,1988.
In this episode, Joan's father comes for a visit, and Ida Mae decides he's going to be her next husband, since he's a doctor and she's a money hungry be-otch.
I could not stand this episode or Ida Mae, this character does not need to exist on this show at ALL!
S4E11: No Laughing Matter, which aired on December 4, 1988.
In this episode Vicki leaks nitrous oxide ( we don't see this until the last 10 minutes of the episode, Jamie teaches for a week ( we don't get to see any of him teaching just the after effects of the kids failing the test (what a cop-out, I know we weren't going to get Cory/'Mr. Feeny level Teacher of the Week episode), but honestly it would have been nice to actually see him teach.
S4E12: Tag, You're It, which aired on December 11, 1988.
Ok, so this episode must have been filmed earlier because Jamie's already been in school for a while and now it's talking about the first day of 8th grade and also Harriet is now going to his school because she skipped a grade and is now in 6th grade (I call bullsh*t on this).
Jamie's trying to get this valley girl speaking airhead of a girl to ask him to the dance ( I swear most of the girl's he's been into this season all have that (like whatever valley girl tone to their dialogue) it's grating on my nerves. It's basically a Sadie Hawkins dance where the girls ask the boys or (according to Full House a Backwards Dance)> Harriet makes it her mission to get Jamie to take her she just has to tag him (you know, like the game). Vicki is made the Hall Monitor giving out demerits to the students thanks to the new Vice Principal played by Marcia Wallace known for her role of Ms. Krabappel on The Simpsons.
As far as these episodes go, they were all that good, not too surprising, since it's the last Season of the show.
Have a good April and I'll see you towards the end of the month for the next 4 episodes in Season 4.
Small Wonder: S4E5: Come Fly With Me, S4E6: Love At First Byte, S4E7: The Sheik, S4E8: Togetherness
2025/02/28
Hey Small Wonder Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.
Today, I covered Season Episodes 5-8.
S4E5: Come Fly With Me, which aired on October 22, 1988.
In this episode the Lawson's accompany Brandon and Harriet on a flight to Florida (business reasons) when their flight is hijacked. Art Linkletter guest stars.
I thought this episode was clever and humorous in some scenes.
S4E6: Love At First Byte, which aired on October 29, 1988.
In this episode Vicki falls for a computer program called L.E.S., that Ted installs in the family computer, unaware that L.E.S.'s growing attraction to Vicki takes a possessive and controlling turn, leading the family to take drastic measures to save Vicki.
S4E7: The Sheik, which aired on November 5, 1988.
In this episode, Ted and the family entertain a Sheik who intends to do business with the Robotics company that Ted works for, however when the Sheik sets his sights on marrying Vicki (to go along with his 4 other wives) this kid is 13 BTW, Ted has to decide if he can save Vicki from a lifetime of servitude (like she doesn't already have that with the Lawsons) marriage to a 13 year old boy or risk a business venture between his company and the Middle East.
S4E8: Togetherness, which aired on November 12, 1988.
In this episode the Brindles and the Lawsons compete on Beat Thy Neighbor, a gameshow.
This was a fun episode.
I hope you enjoy the episodes and I'll be back in late March with episodes S4E9-S4E12.
Small Wonder S4E1: Divided We Stand, S4E2: Double Date, S4E3: The Gang's All Here, S4E4: Rashomon
2025/01/24
Hey Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.
It's 2025 and I'm hitting the ground running with the first four episodes of Season 4.
Today I covered S4E1: Divided We Stand, which aired on September 17, 1989.
In this episode The men and women camp separately, who has the better survival odds?
Listen to find out.
Bland start to a new Season especially with it being the final Season of the show. The last two season openers gave us Season 2 Chewed Out and Season 3 Woodward and Bernstein, gave us don't miss this episode vibes, this one was major weak sauce, middle of the season filler episode.
S4E2: Double Date, which aired on September 24, 1988.
In this episode Jamie, Vicki and Harriet have double dates. Typical being into two places at once double date scenario. It was funny and more going on.
S4E3: The Gang's All Here, which aired on October 1, 1988.
In this episode, Jamie and Vicki join a gang. Speaking of the episode Chewed Out, we get Adam Rich (Eight Is Enough fame) playing a bully of the Screaming Skulls gang instead of Pete, the guy who introduces Jamie and Reggie to chewing tobacco two Seasons ago, the only different is Adam Rich's mullet has gotten longer and stringier. Gross!
and the last episode S4E4: Rashomon, which aired on October 15, 1988.
In this episode the Lawson's along with Brandon and Harriet are invented by the Robotics Company president to this health spa and the kids and Brandon encounter a bugler. Then we are treated to 3 different versions of what happened and then we see what really happened, thanks to Vicki.
I hope you enjoy the four episodes and I'll be back in February with the next four.
Have a great rest of January everyone!
Small Wonder: S3E23: Safety First & S3E24: When You Here The Beep
2024/12/18
Hey Everyone,
Angela Bowen here the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.
Today I the final two episodes of Season 3, S3E23 Safety First, which aired on May 14, 1988.
In this episode Brandon claims injury from Vicki's Heimlich maneuver.
I had high hopes for this episode especially when Joan told the class they would learn the techniques of performing life saving procedures in class like CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver. We didn't see any of these demonstrated by the students instead we get a lame play about accidents in the home acted out by Reggie, Vicki and Harriet even though she doesn't go to their school but got special permission from her school to participate in the play.
and S3E24: When You Hear The Beep, which aired on May 21, 1988.
In this episode Jamie starts an answering service for his friends. After most of Jamie's classmates gets grounded from using the phone he decides to charge the kids for an answering service that he and Vicki create.
I hope you enjoy these two episodes and I'll be diving into
Season 4 in January 2025.
Fuller House: S5E17: Something Borrowed
2024/11/27
Hey Fuller House Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Well Full House and Fuller House Fans, we've made it to the end of Fuller House and that means the end of a 5 year journey of covering both shows, Full House and it's continuation show Fuller House. I've had a fun time going down memory lane with this show and revisiting Fuller House. I hope you all enjoyed listening to the podcast and go back and revisit the episodes in the future.
Today, I covered S5E17: Something Borrowed, which aired on June 2, 2020.
In this episode It's the week before the wedding. The guys go out for their stag party while Kimmy, DJ and Stephanie look for something old and something borrowed for their wedding.
This was such a sweet and heartwarming episode with a lot of callbacks to the OG show Full House.
Thank you all for listening!
Stay tuned for a different form of Full House Podcast content coming sometime in 2025.
Fuller House: S5E15: Be Yourself Free Yourself & S5E16: The Nearlywed Game
2024/11/27
Hey Fuller House Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I covered S5E15 Be Yourself, Free Yourself, which aired on June 2, 2020.
In this episode Kimmy causes trouble for DJ and Matt when she fills in for their ill receptionist at the vet clinic. Steph feels guilty when she realizes Jimmy has been more considerate than she has lately. Jesse is on a mission to find out who bit his daughter, Pamela, at school.
I thought this episode was kind of weaksauce. It was kinda just ok for me.
and I also covered S5E16: The Nearlywed Game, in this episode
The kids get together to host a game show, The Nearlywed Game, that they live stream. It tests how well the couples know each other - and what they really love about each other.
I'd have to say this episode is a Season 5 favorite for me and aside from the holiday episodes that I re-watch yearly this one is also on occasion in rotation from time to time, because it's so fun and enjoyable to watch.
Both episodes were adorable and sweet.
I hope you enjoy them and have a great holiday!
Fuller House: S5E8: Five Dates With Kimmy Gibbler & S5E11: Three Weddings And A Musical
2024/11/27
Hey Fuller House Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I covered S5E8: Five Dates With Kimmy Gibbler, which aired on December 6, 2019.
In this episode Ramona introduces Rocki to Ethan and she suspects that they already know each other, Lisa Loeb turns up in DJ and Matt's veterinary clinic which draws Steph to get Lisa to listen to a song she wrote.
This was a funny and cute episode. Love Steph's song and also Ethan and Rocki pretending that they don't know each other and they used to hang out.
I also covered S5E11: Three Weddings and a Musical, which aired on June 2, 2020.
In this episode while Steve babysits, DJ, Steph and Kimmy head to a wedding expo and wind up walking the runway. Jackson and Ramona audition for the school play.
The wedding dresses were horrible looking (IMO), triple weddings/triple the drama, but I loved the plot with Jackson and Ramona and the musical, Jackson sounding like Josh Groban.
Both episodes were adorable and sweet.
I hope you enjoy them and have a great holiday!
Fuller House: S5E4: Mom's Night Out & S5E5: Ready Player Fuller
2024/11/11
Hey Fuller House Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I covered S5E4: Mom's Night Out, which aired on December 6, 2019.
In this episode Matt and Gia need DJ to notarize their marriage license even though Rocki objects, Gia gets invited to have a Mom's Night Out with Steph, DJ and Kimmy, the guys have a Dudes Night In, while the girls are out.
I enjoyed the guys night in, more than the girls night out, I'm not into dance offs and or dancing with the stars. Steve, Matt and Fernando and Jimmy hanging out was so fun.
and I also covered S5E5: Ready Player Fuller.
In this episode, DJ and Jackson bond through a video game which was DJ's secret until a face to face playoff and the grand reopening of Uncle Monty's runs into a bunch of snags.
I really enjoyed both these episodes, the family coming together to help have a good grand re-opening for Uncle Monty's and DJ and Jackson spending time together, even if she's pretending to be another gamer to get closer and bond with her son. So sweet.
I hope you enjoy the podcast episodes and have a great week!
Fuller House: S5E2: Hale's Kitchen & S5E3: Family Business
2024/11/08
Hey Fuller House Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I covered S5E2: Hale's Kitchen, which aired on December 6, 2019.
In this episode DJ and Steve take a cooking class. Meanwhile, Stephanie has a hard time keeping a promise to Max. Ramona falls for the cute food delivery guy.
I thought this was such a fun episode, we get to meet Ethan, such a sweetie who falls for Ramona, and Stephanie and Max bonding time when she brings the Renaissance fair to Max when she can't take him to the actual one, due to her taking care of baby Danielle. DJ super got on my nerves and annoyed me this episode, her competitiveness was next level to the point where I think even Steve had had enough of her.
and also I covered S5E3: Family Business, in this episode, Jackson accidentally sends a bad post to Ramona's new boyfriend from her phone, Fernando has a crisis at the start of the Formula One Season after his retirement, Max is trying to do his first high dive.
Let me correct this Jackson/Ethan/Ramona plot. Ramona accidently likes one of Ethan's old Instagram pics on her phone and now she thinks Ethan is going to find her a bit on the stalkerish side for scrolling through and liking his old IG posts. Jackson makes matters worse by commenting on it.
Honestly Ethan is just confused that she liked one of his childhood photos and then unliked it, which sent him a notification. He's a totally super chill dude.
The start of the family buying Uncle Monty's Sub Sandwich Imporium.
Season 5 has honestly gotta be one of my favorite Seasons of the show. It's so fun to see how everyone has evolved since Season 1. So much has happened in that time.
I hope you all enjoy the podcast episodes and have a great weekend!
