Ep 258 Haunted Honeymoon
2026/10/11
We’re off to pretend to be American in Stevenage, with a trip down memory lane for 1986’s “Haunted Honeymoon”.
A film which deals sensitively with the plight of the hard of hearing; demonstrates the moose elevation method of dealing with snakes; and takes an unflinching look at the devastating repercussions when a family member is “hairy all over”.
Gene Wilder’s last film as director and, tragically, Gilda Radner’s last film, “Haunted Honeymoon” was a box office and critical flop. It did, however, get embraced by a generation who found it on video, as part of a steady diet of Gene Wilder’s work, usually with Mel Brooks and Richard Prior. Wilder’s homage to both the Golden Age of Radio and comic chillers like “The Old Dark House”, it boasts one hell of a cast of mostly British actors; a number of familiar faces all giving an expectedly great performance, with Bryan Pringle as the butler Pfister a real standout. Dom DeLuise (another frequent Brooks/Wilder collaborator) gives a, for him, restrained performance, which is both hilarious, but oddly, inessential within the plot. With an understanding of the tropes of the classic horror/mystery genre, and a loving attempt to follow the look and effects of a 1930s production; “Haunted Honeymoon” deserves a far greater appreciation, and genre fans who like a nice dose of silly should find a lot to love here.

6 Feet Deeper - The Monster Club
2026/10/10
6 Feet Deeper: “The Monster Club”
Adam’s back in the Welcome To Horror Fact Library for a bonus episode of extra material left over from our recent episode on “The Monster Club”.
As always, we recommend you listen to our main episode (number 256) first, before boogieing down into the extra information. And remember to take a shot of B+ every time he manages to mention Doctor Who.
We hope you enjoy this little transmission from the Welcome To Horror Fact Library.
Ep 257 The chronicles of Cyanide Jones
2026/09/27
This episode we have an exclusive look at an exciting upcoming serial from Baron Sordor’s Theatre of the Doomed: “The Chronicles of Cyanide Jones”!
The Theatre of the Doomed podcast has been running since 2023, and has produced some original and creepy new audio stories. An anthology encompassing many facets of horror fiction, they are in the style of golden age radio, but with a modern sensibility and production level - and a serious dose of gore.
Part of the Blood Brains & Aliens umbrella of work by Aaron Harvie, who writes, producers, sound designs and directs Theatre of the Doomed, “The Chronicles of Cyanide Jones - The End of Everything We Know” is their upcoming neon-noir sci-fi conspiracy thriller featuring “Human Resources Manager” Cyanide Jones - who, for a price, will terminate your problem employees - permanently…
A massive shout out to Aaron for kindly allowing us to hear the first two episodes of this latest work, which we discuss here, along with previous productions.
We’re obviously going to stay as spoiler free as we can here, but highly recommend checking out the past episodes of Baron Sordor’s Theatre of the Doomed, available wherever you listen to us; check out everything at bloodbrainsandaliens.com and prepare for “The Chronicles of Cyanide Jones” which premieres on the 6th of October 2026.
Ep 256 The Monster Club
2026/09/13
It’s time for a glass of (suspicious) red and an undead boogie as we head down to “The Monster Club”.
An exclusive venue, or a Poundland Halloween party (depending on your point of view) where we learn to beware of men with violin cases; why Shadmock’s can’t perform “Wind of Change” by The Scorpions; and that, in terms of convincing make up effects, fangs aren’t what they used to be.
Ex-Amicus producer Milton Subotski returned to the tried and tested horror anthology format, with an idea to make one for kids. As well as the thrills and chills, he hoped to also attract the young ‘uns by including musical interludes from up and coming bands. Sadly, it didn’t come out exactly right. Whilst the stories are enjoyable and of a good production level, with the last being particularly strong and atmospheric; the musical numbers proved divisive for many viewers, and the denizens of The Monster Club in the wraparound are so cheaply realised that it appears to have been supplied by a closing down sale at a joke shop.
What it does have in its favour is a strong cast, with old pros Vincent Price and John Carradine retaining their dignity whilst dancing with off-brand muppets; the inventive mythology of R Chetwynd-Hayes; some surprisingly nasty moments that may have also scuppered the “for kids” intentions; and, somehow, an overall air of infectious fun. It knows that it’s cheap and silly, but also doesn’t really care.

Ep 255 Tomb Tomes
2026/08/30
In an effort to prove that the team all have a reading age above 6; we’ve decided to have a chat about some of the supernatural and horror books that we’ve enjoyed, both recently and over the years.
Featuring discussions of Syd Moore’s “Essex Witch Museum” series; Rosemary Sutcliff’s Beowulf adaptation “Dragon Slayer”; Richard Daniels and Melody Phelan-Clark’s “The Occultaria Majesteria”; Hammer Films graphic guide “Infogothic”; Dead Ink anthology “Unquiet Guests”; and the British Library’s “Tales of the Weird Collection”.
We keep these spoiler free, so no prep before the ep, just hopefully some great recommendations.
Ep 254 The Autopsy of Jane Doe
2026/08/16
How the (draining) tables have turned! In this episode Chris introduces Adam and Lee to a film, 2016’s “The Autopsy of Jane Doe”.
A film in which we learn that toe bells are the must have accessory for every fashionable corpse; that cloth, toxic vegetation and teeth are not an ideal diet;
and that even the most rational of us can only take so much weird shit before finally saying “let’s get the f**k out of here.”
Director André Øvredal’s English-language debut is strikingly different to his previous feature “Troll Hunter”; the extensive outdoor location work is replaced by basically one interior for the majority of the runtime; and the tone has shifted from keenly observed comedy to a taunt atmosphere of foreboding and dread. What the two films do share is an inherent quality, a keen but understated knowledge of folklore and a perfect cast. Of this small but amazing company, special praise has to go to Olwen Catherine Kelly as the title character; whose near supernatural level of stillness is an incredible display of self-discipline. Having been on both their watch lists for ten years; “The Autopsy of Jane Doe” is a salutary lesson to Lee and Adam not to sleep on a film with good word of mouth, with the only downside of this viewing being that they’re kicking themselves they hadn’t got here sooner.
Watch (or re-watch) to avoid spoilers and join us.
Ep 253 Troll Hunter
2026/08/02
It’s episode 253 and once again we’ve decided to commemorate the UK’s unprecedented heatwave by returning to the snowy mountains of Norway, for 2010’s “Troll Hunter”.
A shocking exposé of Norway’s Cryptid problem; in which we learn how bears walk; how Trolls stink and the real story behind overhead power lines.
A winning combination of found footage and mockumentary made “Troll Hunter” a breath of fresh mountain air when it first appeared, and that freshness has remained. A sardonic take on Cryptid Hunting as Government-run pest control, with bags of red tape, poorly thought out cover stories and leadership incompetence this is a workplace comedy with added monsters, and effects that stand up to this day. With a hefty knowledge of Norwegian folklore, and a spot on cast, “Troll Hunter” deserves to be considered a classic horror comedy.

Ep 252 Death To We Have Been Watching
2026/07/19
Welcome To Horror Presents: “Death To We Have Been Watching”.
Wowsers trousers and great googly moogly - it’s episode 252 (the bus to Romford) and it’s a surprise edition of “We Have Been Watching”!
Adam and Lee are joined by Lady Jennifer taking on the role of Chris (currently listed as MPC - “Missing - Presumed Confused”), to take a look at a variety of spooky entertainment: We discuss the 2026 films “Hokum” and “Backrooms”, the second series of podcast “Broken Veil”, briefly detouring into the TV series “Small Prophets” and “Psychoville”, and the books “Solace House” by Will Maclean and “The Frighteners” by Peter Laws.
No prep for the ep, but listeners beware, as here be (possible) spoilers and (definite) swearing.

Ep 251 Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters
2026/07/05
We’re off to the deep dark woods for some fairytale carnage in “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”.
A film in which two former Bond girls knock the shit out of each other; Hawkeye learns not all witches are bad by accidentally sticking his willy in one; and Peter Stormare glowers to little effect.
Tommy Wirkola’s first English language film after the success of “Dead Snow” is a bit of a mixed bag; feeling at times like it’s an adaptation from a comic book you haven’t read. It’s concept is great, what became of the titular siblings when they grew up, and adds into that action and a sort of steampunk tech melded to a fairy tale landscape. More an action adventure with horror tropes, but as a pure switch the brain off knock about it does the job well.
Watch (or re-watch) to avoid spoilers and join us.
Ep 250 Re-make / Re-model
2026/06/21
It’s episode 250! And to celebrate the team have decided to play “what if?”.
We have all chosen a film outside of the genre to be remade as a horror: Who do you cast? Who’s directing it? What changes about the story and what stays the same?
It’s just a bit a daft laff, but if you enjoy this episode, let us know what your choices would be.
Technically there’s no spoilers (or spoilers for films that don’t exist?), so just put on your party hat and join us.
Ep 249 Dead Snow
2026/06/07
Just in time for some of the hottest weather the UK has ever seen, we’re covering Nazi Zombies on Ice in 2009’s “Dead Snow”.
An informative film that details basic avalanche orienteering techniques; the right and wrong ways to use a snowmobile and when not to lick a fat man’s fingers.
A simple premise, a sense of humour and some balls out gore make this a fun horror ride. With no one safe and a seemingly never ending hoard of the undead, it manages to keep a level of tension, without having to reign in the humour as the film goes on, a very fine balancing act. Whilst not necessarily a movie for regular repeat viewing, it’s always a great ride while it lasts.
Watch (or re-watch) to avoid spoilers and join us.
Ep 248 We Have Been Watching
2026/05/24
Welcome To Horror Presents: “The Planet of We Have Been Watching”.
It’s time for another “We Have Been Watching”, and in a real turn up for the books, everything we’ve watched is from this century!
We discuss “Abigail” (2024), “The Gorge” (2025), “Reflections On A Dead Diamond” (2025), “Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come” (2026), “28 Years Later” (2025), “Death of a Unicorn” (2025), “Obex” (2025), “The Lords of Salem” (2012 - Chris bringing the average down slightly), and Lee walks out of “The Bride” (2026).
No prep for this ep, but listeners beware, as here be (possible) spoilers and (definite) swearing.
Ep 247 What Ever Happened to Baby Jane
2026/05/10
It’s time for some Hollywood glamour on Welcome To Horror, as we ask “What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?”
A film which gives some top tips for the family catering on a budget; introduces us to King Tut’s Cockney mum; and highlights the true diligence and observational skills of the LAPD.
When it seems that a film exists primarily to pair two fading movie stars whose off-screen animosity was already legendary; it really shouldn’t be the masterpiece that “What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?” is. Director Robert Aldrich conjures stark Hollywood gothic, with lashings of cynical humour and a truly mean streak of domestic horror. Stars Bette Davis and Joan Crawford give career-best performances in territory that is unflattering anathema to their past glories, with their rivalry and begrudging respect for each other’s talents forging absolute gold. Budgetary restraints help the film feel more “real” as normal studio techniques were too costly, giving aspects of the film (particularly the location work) a near-documentary edge. Whilst “…Baby Jane” somewhat revitalised the careers of Davis and Crawford, leading both into further work in the horror genre, nothing can touch this macabre pinnacle.

Ep 246 Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde
2026/04/26
It’s Hammer Time once again on WTH, and it’s the turn of 1971’s “Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde”.
A film in which we learn that two’s company, three’s a positive deviation; that Burke and Hare were time travellers; and that an alias inspired by a newspaper headline isn’t always the best idea (just ask Mrs Freddie Starr Ate My Hamster).
A title that began as a joke has probably not helped the reputation of this late period Hammer movie, with many dismissing it as an unnecessary watch from a studio long past its prime. But this is a mistake, from the combo of stalwart director Roy Ward Baker and Avengers writer Brian Clemens comes an interesting and vibrant film, that feels more modern than a lot of its stablemates, with bags of atmosphere, a line of still effective gore, some lovely directorial flourishes, and a blackly comic streak in both its characters and dialogue. Ralph Bates and Martine Beswick are a brilliant paring as the two aspects of our protagonist, ably supported by a strong cast, notably Gerald Simm’s disreputable Professor and Philip Madoc’s lugubrious mortuary attendant. Whilst “Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde” ultimately fails to adequately explore the concept at its heart, it is certainly the most entertaining of the studio’s few attempts to adapt Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic, and another example of the less well-known Hammer Films being surprising gems that deserve a much greater appreciation.
