Motility Tests To Ask For If You Have Night Time (Or Anytime!) Abdominal Spasms
2026/10/11
A week or two back I did an episode on the small intestine spasm seen in 100% of endo participants in a study on endometriosis and SIBO.(1) Last week I shared about this observation on Instagram and the post went wild. It had 100,000 views, hundreds of comments, thousands of saves and so many of you wrote to me to say that you get a spasm like pain in your intestines over night. I am going to do some more digging, as I’ve never come across more research looking into this issue since that study, which was in 1998. I could have certainly missed it, so I’ll look again, but in the meantime, it’s clear something is going on and many of you are suffering. Now, I am going to do another episode on other intestinal spasms that could also be happening in the night, because I think some of us are having different experiences, but today I want to do a short episode on the main motility tests we can get for the small intestines that I advise my clients to discuss with their GI doctor. SIBO Retesting: Your Methane or Hydrogen Gas Levels Have Gone Up - Here’s Why That Might Be a Good Sign
2026/10/04
When I am working with endo clients on their SIBO, I always start the discussions not by diving into the protocol options, but by setting expectations and giving some cautionary warnings. This is so important, because SIBO is not easy to treat, but also, if you misunderstand your test results as you go through the protocol, you may give up or change protocols when in fact, you should keep going. Often I have people come to me and tell me they tried one round of herbs and their levels went up, or they tried antibiotics and only one gas came down whilst the other went up, and so on. So, today, I want to give you a very brief insight into some of the gas patterns you can expect to see when you’re going through SIBO treatment, so that if you’re doing this on your own, or you’re doing it with the help of your doctor but perhaps they are not as versed in SIBO as you’d like, you know what to do when you see these patterns. Gut Motility and Enteric Nervous System Dysfunction in Endo
2026/09/27
This week we’re travelling again, heading over to the Isle of Wight, and we have a lot of packing to do, so this week is a real bite sized episode, but an important one. You may remember me talking about a study showing 80% of participants with endometriosis also had SIBO. But what many people don’t know, and what I think doesn’t get enough focus, is that this study also found 100% of participants had a dysfunction of their small intestine motility. The Aftermath of Covid on Endometriosis Patients
2026/09/15
Recently, there’s been some awful articles going around about the rise of the chronic illness community and how we’re lying about how ill we are, and that we’re encouraging others to believe they are also ill. So, today, if you’re questioning how you’re feeling, worried it’s all in your head, or fearful you won’t be believed, I wanted to give you some research on why you your health may have been declining in recent years, or why you now have three or four extra chronic conditions added on top of your endo. It’s not all in your head, and you’re not making it up. Hormone Patterns in Endo, PMOs and Perimenopause - How to Track Them and What They Mean
2026/08/25
Please note - due to graphs and example images, this podcast might be best consumed as the original video here: https://youtu.be/z04DCzoSgxY This week on the podcast I am interview Rose Mackenzie, Clinical Manager behind Mira, the hormone monitor that I use with clients, to discuss tracking and understanding your hormonal patterns. I use Mira with my clients to: Identify what their hormones are up to when their endo symptoms are at their worst. Identify whether my clients are in perimenopause or menopause and what stage. Track and manage PMOS. Help clients with their fertility journey. And even identify if hormone fluctuations make their co-conditions (like MCAS and POTS) worse. In this episode, Rose and I will be covering: What is the Mira, how does it work, what is the validity of the testing and how does it compare to the hormone tests we can get at the doctor's surgery? How can we use it? How might the Mira be helpful for tracking endo symptoms and what might be influencing them? How can we use Mira to monitor perimenopause and/or menopause? What patterns are we looking for? How can we use Mira for monitoring PMOS (a co-condition of endo)? How can we use Mira for fertility? Are there any co-conditions of endo that we could monitor with Mira? You don’t have to have a Mira or want to buy one to benefit from this conversation. We’re going to be talking about hormones in endo, peri, PMOS and more, and discussing what patterns, signs and symptoms to look for when identifying hormone issues. Impact of POTS or Dysautonomia on the Endo Belly and IBS symptoms
2026/08/14

Three Ways SIBO Can Contribute to Endo Symptoms Outside of Endo Belly and IBS
2026/08/07
So today marks the 400th This EndoLife episode! But it occurred to me that my first full episode on SIBO was episode 90! So for some of you, you may wonder why it’s such a big deal in my mind for people with endo. So I wanted to share some of the ways that SIBO can affect our endo symptoms, outside of the usual endo belly issues. How SIBO and IBS Could Be the Root Cause of Your Interstitial Cystitis
2026/08/03
Today I want to talk briefly about the possible connection between endo, SIBO, IBS and UTIs. Now this could be a deep dive episode but I am giving you some of the top lines and the most recent research, and I’ve put a few links to more detailed episodes in the show notes. Why Clearing SIBO May Not Totally Eradicate Your Gut Symptoms and Endo Belly
2026/07/19
If you want to learn more about the root causes of endo belly and IBS in the endo demographic, and you’re keen to understand the SIBO, MCAS, POTS and hEDS connection too, I am running a free workshop on Thursday July 23rd, 6pm British Summer time, live on Zoom. If you can’t attend it live, you’ll be able to watch the replay. You’ll learn what the emerging evidence is showing us about endometriosis and the gut microbiome, some of the key root causes behind endo belly, co-conditions to look out for, and what kind of treatments you might need to consider.   To sign up, go to: https://www.theendobellycoach.com/free-endo-belly-workshop and I’ve put the link in my show notes. Could MCAS/Mast Cells Be Contributing to Your Endo Belly and IBS Symptoms?
2026/07/12
A couple of months back I did an episode on mast cells, MCAS and endometriosis - so, if you haven’t listened to that episode, it’s a short one, and I would listen to it to get you up to speed on what mast cells are and their function, what MCAS is and what the connection is to endo. Today, we are talking about how MCAS, or even just mast cells, could be contributing to your endo belly, IBS and/or SIBO. If you want to learn more about the root causes of endo belly and IBS in the endo demographic, and you’re keen to understand the SIBO, MCAS, POTS and hEDS connection too, I am running a free workshop on Thursday July 23rd, 6pm British Summer time, live on Zoom. Could SIBO Antibiotics Also Help Treat Endometriosis?
2026/05/31
Antibiotics, understandably, have a bad reputation because of how much they’ve been overused in the past few decades, and the impact that has had on our gut microbiomes and overall health, not to mention, resistance development. So, when it comes to antibiotics for SIBO, most of my clients are initially hesitant to consider them, and will typically opt for antimicrobial herbs instead. However, there are some potential benefits of antibiotics for endometriosis, so I thought it was worth sharing these with you, so that if you find yourself having to treat SIBO, you can make an informed decision about which path you’d like to take.
