Advertise on podcast: Who Got The Assist? FPL Podcast

Transfers in and out feel a little academic thus far, so this week Sam & Tom take a little look into two price brackets which are of growing interest to #FPL managers: the ~5.0m defenders and the "third striker" (including junking the spot) to help with planning and to assist in making those decisions when it comes to it.  Plus a tricky week for captaincy despite quite a heavy template at the moment, which we'll also touch on. After a good (Sam) and bruising (Tom) return to FPL, we’re back into the rhythm ahead of Gameweek 7. But who’s made early moves? Hmm. Either way, we’re here to preview the weekend ahead with Brighton dominating the transfers in still, the likes of Bruno shedding owners in the Off Ramp, and surely a slam dunk captaincy for Haaland. Plus in the talking point: Sam's therapy chaise longue is in session: how can Tom stop the drop and resurrect what is in danger of being a proper Banter Season? Hey you, you’re finally awake. Yes, the longest international break in history is finally nearing its conclusion and us #FPL managers are awakening from our slumber, meaning Tom & Sam are back to finally preview Gameweek 6! We've got man flu but we power through. Following on from our pod before our week off, we’re going from macro to micro as we look ahead to the #fantasypremierleague return, with form vs. fixtures picking up players WC6 will be looking at, an extended look at the offramp to see what players have fallen off substantially, season long, and also a tricky captaincy call this week. Plus a look at what a Gameweek 6 Wildcard might look like and how different it is from ours in GW5, and maybe even the first wave in GW3/4. Join Sam and Tom on a classic WGTA deep dive as we look through the #FPL data generated from the first 5 gameweeks to ask how this, it's fair to say, unpredictable season is unfolding. Plus some nominees for players to watch, and we suppose a quick at how our wildcards ended up. We'll take a break in the middle week of international break, so we'll be back to preview #fantasypremierleague GW6 on Tuesday 6th October. Sam's on Wildcard! But is Tom joining him? After a Triple Captain disappointment for the former and a Free Hit of objective failure and subjective success for the latter, could yet more buttons be pushed by the WGTA cohosts? Either way, the regulars remain the same: form Vs fixtures, the off ramp and the (narrower) captaincy debate ahead of #fantasypremierleague GW5. And then... wildcards. What does Sam's look like? Has Tom wildcarded? Tune in to find out. If you enjoyed this, leave a 5-star review, say something nice if you’d like, and do subscribe to our feed – we really appreciate it, and it helps us so much! After the first “mid” week of the #fantasypremierleague season for many, Sam & Tom look through the varying responses managers are taking – from Free Hits, through Wildcards, to just riding it out. Tom’s Free Hit is active for 4 as planned – sort of – and Sam’s had a look at the counterpart wildcards which are live out there. Additionally, a transfer window roundup, in Form vs Fixtures we run the rule over the candidates being considered for purchase this week, and in the Offramp we look at those being sold and try to cut through the noise. Plus who gets the armband this week? If you enjoyed this, leave a 5-star review, say something nice if you’d like, and do subscribe to our feed – we really appreciate it, and it helps us so much! After another blockbuster week for Sam and one where Tom founds how how it feels to be underwhelmed with a triple digit score, both of us are likely to have chips active! We cover Sam's dilemma (free hit or wildcard?), which helps us inform form Vs fixtures and also figure out who's worth the same in the Offramp. Plus a discussion on triple captaincy on Haaland this week and our teams for #fantasypremierleague GW3. After an opening weekend of ridiculously good (Sam) and moderate (Tom) success, we pick over the wreckage of the first dose of 38 #fantasypremierleague Gameweeks. We'll discuss form vs. fixture for #FPL picks; the Offramp (are player being sold too early; should any be being sold at all?); the main talking point revolving around standard advice on not overthinking gameweek 1 and not thinking it's all been solved and how we set up for gw2. It’s the final WGTA of 2025/26 before we break for summer. Tom & Sam are in to review their Gameweek 38s and their own seasons – what went well what didn’t? – before launching into an analysis of the 2025/26 season in classic WGTA style. Looking at the data, we evaluate points scoring in #FantasyPremierLeague this year and how underperforming premiums – who may be a fading force in FPL – and DefCon have combined to produce what may be a new era for #FantasyFootball, enabling us to make some predictions for next year. We also cover off our one week punts and season long bold claims for the year, before handing out our annual end of year awards to bring the curtain down on another season of WGTA. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT. BACK IN JULY (OR WHEN THE GAME RELAUNCHES FOR 26/27). If you enjoyed this, consider subscribing to the feed and leaving a 5* Review, it helps us out so much.
