The Mysteries of Gungywamp

This mysterious site could date back as much as 3,000 years and includes strange stone structures from the Native American period as well as the Colonial. Welcome to New England Legends From the Vault – FtV Episode 165 – Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger head to Wethersfield, Connecticut, on the hunt for a ghost who has been haunting this town since December of 1782. Fresh off the heels of the American Revolution, wealthy merchant William Beadle has lost almost everything because he followed the law, and did the right thing. Once the new congress devalued his currency, he was broke, and couldn't live that… so he spent years plotting the murder of his entire family. This is a dark, downward spiral into insanity that led to America's first mass murder-suicide. This episode first aired April 18, 2019

The Connecticut River Monster

The stretch of road along Route 1 next to the General Moulton House has the ominous moniker not only because of the many car accidents reported there, but because the nearby house is said to be haunted. Rhode Island's Vanishing Slate Rock

A picturesque covered wooden bridge that dates back to 1829, this structure has seen more than its share of tragedies. From the time Lem Parker burned it down because he said God told him to, to the time a doctor's horse drowned here, to the time Tropical Storm Irene fired tree limbs at the bridge like missiles, maybe this old bridge really is cursed? This ghost has ties to the old shipyard, which has ties to the Boston Tea Party. This ghostly experience was documented by local journalist Curt Norris in the 1980s. Could these taps come from the ghost of shipbuilder Barker Turner? This episode first aired September 9, 2021

The Ghost Town of Livermore

The Face that Witnessed a Murder

In Episode 437, Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger investigate the former Malden Bank building in Malden, Massachusetts, to witness the site of America's first armed bank robbery that included a murder. On December 15, 1863, 17-year-old bank employee Frank Converse became the victim of a gunman who made off with thousands of dollars in the heist. But whodunit and why? The event still haunts the old building.

FtV - The Lordship Mermaid

Welcome to New England Legends From the Vault – FtV Episode 160 – Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger head to the Stratford, Connecticut, coast by the Stratford Point Lighthouse in search of a mermaid sighting that was reported in great detail by lighthouse keeper Theodore Judson in July of 1915. Mermaid fever had gripped the region decades earlier thanks to another local Connecticut guy name P.T. Barnum who introduced the world to the Feejee Mermaid in the 1840s. This episode first aired June 4, 2020

Doomsday Island in the Connecticut River
2026/03/12
In Episode 437, Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger explore Kings Island in Suffield, Connecticut. The island was once home to DeWitt Terry, A Seventh Day Adventist elder who believed the second coming of Christ, and thus the end of times was going to occur November 5, 1873 (spoilers: he was wrong). Over 100 people once gathered on this island to await the end.

Frozen Charlotte

In Episode 436, Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger head to Benson, Vermont, to trace the origins of Frozen Charlotte dolls. The tiny dolls were popular in the latter half of the nineteenth century and exist because of a song, based on a poem, based on a news story, based on a tragic and creepy winter legend.
