Jesus: Friend of Sinners
2026/10/25
Jesus was accused of being a “friend of sinners.” What was intended as criticism actually revealed something extraordinary about His heart.
This week, we explore Luke 7 and the contrast between Simon the Pharisee and a woman carrying a public reputation and deep shame. Simon understands holiness as distance, but Jesus reveals a holiness that draws near without treating sin casually.
He receives the woman, confronts Simon, speaks forgiveness, and exposes the deeper truth that both debtors stand in need of mercy.
This is an invitation to look again at Jesus: utterly holy, astonishingly accessible, full of grace and truth, and able to forgive, restore, and make whole.
Jesus: The Man From Nazareth
2026/10/18
Familiarity with Jesus can be a gift, but it can also become the place where wonder slowly disappears
This week, we begin Jesus: Look Again in Mark 6, where Jesus returns to Nazareth and is met by people who think they already know Him. They can name His family, His trade, and His hometown - but their categories are too small for the One standing in front of them.
This is an invitation to look again at the Jesus revealed in the Gospels: holy yet accessible, gentle yet confronting, powerful yet humble. Not a Jesus shaped to fit our assumptions, but the One who confronts, rearranges, and forms our lives around Himself.
Holy Renewal: Rebuilt Walls & Unfinished Hearts
2026/10/11
Holy renewal can produce real progress without yet producing a fully renewed heart
This week, Nehemiah 13 brings a sobering ending to the story. The walls are rebuilt, worship has been restored, covenant has been renewed, and yet compromise has quietly moved back in. Tobiah now occupies space in the temple, holy things have been displaced, and the people are reminded that activity isn’t the same as devotion.
This is an invitation to look beneath visible progress and ask what is taking up space in us. What needs to be removed, cleansed, restored, or reordered? Because renewal isn’t proved by what we feel in a moment, but by what we continue to make room for over time.
Holy Renewal: Remembering Mercy & Renewing Covenant
2026/09/20
Holy renewal is more than a moment of conviction. It’s remembering God's mercy deeply enough that our lives begin to turn again.
This week, Nehemiah 9 and 10 trace a movement from grief to remembrance to confession to renewed surrender.
The people come low before God, remember His faithfulness, own their rebellion, and respond. Their repentance isn’t vague or emotional; it touches their relationships, worship, money, time, justice, and shared life.
This is an invitation to move beyond a spiritual tap on the brakes and into genuine repentance: not trying to earn mercy, but turning because God has already shown Himself faithful, gracious, and kind.
Holy Renewal: Gathered Around The Word
2026/09/13
Holy renewal deepens when the people of God become attentive to the voice of God again.
This week, Nehemiah 8 shows a community gathered around the Word with hunger, reverence, understanding, conviction, joy, and obedience.
The wall has been rebuilt, but the deeper work is still happening: God is reordering a people around His presence and His voice. The Word searches them, wounds in order to heal, restores joy, opens their hands to others, and leads them back into dependence.
This is an invitation to move beyond simply admiring or agreeing with Scripture and become a people truly formed by it: attentive to God, willing to be searched, and ready to respond with our whole lives.
Holy Renewal: The People We Become While We Build
2026/09/06
Holy renewal isn’t only about what God rebuilds around us; it’s also about what He reveals and renews within us.
This week, Nehemiah 5 turns from external opposition to a deeper threat inside the community: injustice, exploitation, and people being wounded by those who should have been standing beside them.
Nehemiah listens to the cry, confronts what’s wrong, calls the people back to the fear of God, and shows the place of repentance in community.
This is an invitation to ask not only, “What are we building?” but, “Who are we becoming while we build?” God cares about the work, but He also cares about the mercy, justice, holiness, integrity, and love being formed in His people along the way.
Holy Renewal: The Work & The War
2026/08/30
Holy renewal doesn’t happen without pressure. The work of God can attract resistance, expose weariness, and bring fear to the surface - but pressure doesn’t mean God has left the work.
This week, we walk through Nehemiah 4 and see a people mocked, threatened, exhausted, and afraid, yet still called to pray, remember the Lord, stay watchful, and keep building.
The opposition is real, but so is the presence and faithfulness of God.
This is an invitation to let pressure form dependence rather than despair. When fear gets loud, we’re called to remember the Lord, trust His presence, and keep doing the next faithful thing.
Holy Renewal: The Work We Carry Together
2026/08/23
A holy burden begins in prayer, but it’s meant to take shape in the places God has planted us.
In this message, we follow Nehemiah as he moves from carrying Jerusalem in his heart to standing among its ruins.
He goes slowly enough to see, names both the brokenness and the gracious hand of God, and calls the people into a shared work of rebuilding. Nehemiah 3 then gives us a beautiful picture of renewal carried shoulder to shoulder by ordinary people, each taking their place.
This is an invitation to faithful presence: to believe God is already at work in our homes, streets, workplaces, neighbourhoods, and city, and to prayerfully take our place in what He’s already doing.
Holy Renewal: A Holy Burden
2026/08/16
Holy renewal rarely begins with action. It begins when God allows us to truly see what is broken and gives that grief somewhere holy to go.
In this message, we begin the story of Nehemiah by exploring the idea of a holy burden. Nehemiah hears of Jerusalem’s ruin, but instead of rushing to solutions, he sits, weeps, fasts, prays, confesses, remembers God’s mercy, and waits. His grief is formed in the presence of God before it becomes faithful action.
This is an invitation to bring our own grief, disappointment, and concern before God long enough for Him to shape it. Holy renewal begins in the place of prayer and in God’s presence.
Living Liturgy: City on a Hill
2026/08/02
Church isn’t merely something we do; it’s a people we’re becoming together in the presence of God.
In this message, we close the Living Liturgy preaching focus by looking beneath the practices of church life to the deeper theology that gives them weight.
Scripture describes the church as a dwelling place for God, a body, a holy people, and a city on a hill. When that vision becomes thin, we lose what the local church is supposed to be about.
This is an invitation to recover a bigger imagination for the local church: a people gathered around Jesus, formed by Scripture, filled by the Spirit, deeply rooted in place, and living visibly for the good of their neighbours.
Giving: Financial Partnership & Shared Ministry
2026/07/26
In this message, we explore Paul’s language of “partnership in the gospel” in Philippians. The church in Philippi didn’t remain spectators or receivers of ministry: they became participants, sharing responsibility, resources, prayer, affection, and mission.
Their financial giving was practical, but it was also worship: a fragrant offering, a participation in ministry, and an expression of trust in God’s provision.
This is an invitation to move beyond a consumer imagination of church and ask a deeper question: what has God entrusted to me to carry here?
Partnership is putting our yes on the table together for the sake of Jesus and His kingdom.
Giving: Grace, Freedom & Generosity
2026/07/19
In this message, we explore how Jesus and the early church deepen the biblical vision of generosity. Giving becomes one of the ways our hearts are freed from the mastery of money, our trust is formed, needs are carried together, and the church participates in the work of God.
Paul describes giving that is willing, cheerful, planned, proportional, and rooted in surrender rather than manipulation.
At the centre of it all is Jesus Himself: the One who gave Himself first. This is an invitation to bring our finances honestly before God and ask what grace-shaped, faithful generosity looks like in this season.
Giving: Firstfruits, Tithe & Trust
2026/06/28
Giving is more than a financial transaction; it’s one of the ways God forms trust, worship, memory, and shared responsibility in His people.
In this message, we explore the Old Testament practices of firstfruits and the tithe - not as fundraising formulas, but as deeply formative acts of faith.
Firstfruits taught Israel that God is the source, owner, and provider of all they had. The tithe sustained worship, supported ministry, cared for the vulnerable, and reminded the community that life with God was something they carried together.
This is an invitation to ask a question deeper than “How much do I have to give?”
What does faithfulness look like when everything we have belongs to God, and what might He be forming in our hearts through an open-handed life?
Worship: Around The Throne
2026/06/21
Revelation invites the church to see reality clearly: the throne is occupied, God reigns, and the Lamb who was slain is worthy.
In this message, we explore worship around the throne in Revelation 4 and 5: worship that begins with beholding, centres on the worthiness of God and the Lamb, and draws our whole selves into reverence, surrender, and response. As crowns are cast down and heaven’s song rises, our loves are reordered and our allegiance is strengthened.
This is an invitation to move beyond preference, fear, and spectatorship, and to join the worship already unfolding around the throne - becoming a people who resist lesser kingdoms because we have seen the One who is truly worthy.
Worship: Formed Together
2026/06/14
Worship isn’t only something we offer to God; it’s one of the ways God forms us as His people.
In this message, we explore the New Testament vision of gathered worship as shared ministry - ministering to the Lord, building up one another, becoming attentive to the Spirit, and being formed for mission.
As the word of Christ dwells richly among us, our songs become carriers of truth, our voices help the church remember, and our shared worship shapes us around the presence and Lordship of Jesus.
This is an invitation to move beyond spectatorship and rediscover the gathered church as a people participating together - singing what helps us behold Jesus, and beholding Him until we become more like Him in the world.
