The story of Reality Fracture, and thus the story of Jace Beleren, comes to an end in today's episode. We see the Theorist flex his omniscience as he attempts to overlay his echoverse over the multiverse, and we see as he fails. And then we all cry. A lot. Jace shattered at the end of Tarkir Dragonstorm, and as he has become the Theorist he has continued to jettison the parts of himself that would stand in his way of restarting the multiverse. In episodes 7 and 8 of the Reality Fracture story, we see Jace's friends and comrades (and Garruk) scramble through his memories to find those pieces of himself in order to stop the Theorist from ending everything. Along the way, they learn more about themselves in return. Read Magic Story! Do it! MtgStory.com! Our summaries are nothing compared to the incredible writing by Alison Lührs! Do we finally get through all of the new cards from this set? Spoiler alert: We do not! Look out for a third part during next week's episode. If you want to support the Vorthos Cast, you can! Wow there's a lot to talk about here! Mystery Booster: Commander Edition has 51 new legendary creatures (50 if you don't count the Alchemy card!) and most of them are deep cuts to Magic's history. We talked about 9 planeswalkers last week, and this week we only get through 13 of the legendary creatures before running out of time! This is going to be a multi-part flavor gems, and right now we can't say how many parts it'll be! This week's topics are Ulgrotha, Otaria, and the Weatherlight Saga! Mystery Booster: Commander Edition is a surprise Vorthos hit this year, as the convention-only booster set has 59 totally new cards in it, including nine planeswalkers! All of these new planeswalker cards are actually really wonderful lore deep cuts, from the very first named characters in all of Magic story to an unnamed fan favorite for almost a decade! We're talking through the nine planeswalkers so you know who they are, where they came from, and why they do what they do. If you want to support the Vorthos Cast, you can! Wow! 400 episodes! That's a lot! And we're not even counting all the previews and special side episodes we've done! To thank you all for listening to so, so many hours of this podcast, we solicited questions from our listeners and answered them in this episode! All of us are here, including Jay, the host emeritus, and we're answering questions about our opinions on robots, which cursed ships we're set sail on, and actual real lore questions like what the heck a nightstalker is. If you want to support us in making 400 more episodes about Magic's lore and story, head on over to Patreon.com/TheVorthosCast, where just $1 a month (that's like two packs of Magic a year) will get you access to our Discord server where Vorthoses around the world talk all about Magic, and for $3 a month you can listen to us record the podcast live every Thursday at 7pm Eastern time! All paid patrons get access to early episode releases, too!

Jace has created his own model multiverse, an echo of our own, where existential threats like Nicol Bolas, the Eldrazi, and Phyrexia never existed. In addition, he has gathered together the reflections of planeswalkers from the true multiverse whose histories have diverged in significant ways. These planeswalkers, known in our world as the Lorwyn Five, are key to Jace's plan to assert control of the multiverse and impose his vision on reality. We're here to tell you the true origins of the Fractured Five (and Vraska) and where their lives were fractured in the Echoverse. If you want to support the Vorthos Cast, you can! This week's episode is a two-parter! First up is our reaction to the news out of Amsterdam as the preview panel (the Amsterpanel) showed off more of Reality Fracture and introduced us to the three Magic sets for 2027, including a new plane, a mashup, and a brand new look at an old setting! Then we're diving into Izzy Wasserstein's story for the Global Fund for Women Secret Lair drop, "Spirits of the Abzan," an incredible story about Felothar and the Abzan during their struggle against Dromoka and the importance of trust and the bonds between women. Don't worry about our meddling with the time streams in this one. If you're reading this message, that means we've put everything back in its place. If you see Cary some time in the past, though, could you let them know we're working on getting them back? If you want to support the Vorthos Cast, you can! We're once again joined by the incredible Seanan McGuire to ask all about Strixhaven: Omens of Chaos! She tells us all about how the novel came to be, how it felt to write a full novel rather than a series of web fiction episodes, and why Segante has a single nipple piercing. We also spend a lot more time talking about cross-species fertility than you'd expect in a Magic the Gathering lore podcast. If you want to support the Vorthos Cast, you can! It's comics week, again! This week we're talking about the first two issues of Dark Horse Comics' Untold Stories: Jace. Elspeth's story was untold yet familiar, being the story for the card set Theros: Beyond Death. But Jace's story is new to us, and even new to Jace himself, as the mind mage is delving into memories which had been locked away from even himself until now. These memories concern his time working for Tezzeret as an interplanar thief and smuggler, and their mission to Shiv on Dominaria, where things went very wrong. The Untold Stories comic series from Dark Horse finished their first four-issue run with Untold Stories: Elspeth this month! These comics tell untold stories from Magic's past—stories that didn't quite make it to the page before now. Elspeth's untold story is the story of Theros: Beyond Death, a set that released in a very inopportune time (early 2020) and had an unfortunate cancellation of the planned novella to tell its story. These comics rectify that, giving us the story of Elspeth's escape from the underworld, and issues #3 and #4 conclude the story in exciting fashion. We're here to tell you all about it, and also share our thoughts on the series as a whole. If you'd like a refresher of what happened in issues #1 and #2, listen to episode #367 from December of last year: https://soundcloud.com/user-345643028/367-untold-stories-elspeth-1-and-2 If you want to support the Vorthos Cast, you can! That's right! This week's the last week of our five part series book club for Omens of Chaos! We're talking about the climax of the novel, where all the pieces fall into place and the villain's grand scheme is revealed. While every episode of the book club has contained spoilers, this is the most spoilery of all spoiler episodes, so if you haven't finished the book, you should do that first! Then you should come back and listen to our thoughts on the highlights of the last few chapters of the book, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. If you want to go back and listen to previous book club episodes, this is the page breakdown for the novel: Part 1: Pg.1-125 Part 2: Pg.126-167 Part 3: Pg.168-253 Part 4: Pg.254-306 Part 5: Pg.307- 413 If you'd like to support the show, you can find us on Patreon at Patreon.com/TheVorthosCast! All supporters get access to our Discord server, where Vorthoses around the world are telling stories and discussing Magic with each other! All patrons get access to early episode releases, and patrons at our $3/month tier can listen to us record episodes live!
