Matthew 14 | Woody Burpo
2026/10/19
In this message, you'll discover: Why compassion must move us from feeling to action. How creating margin in our schedules helps us serve others. Why we should never underestimate what God can do with what we offer Him. What Peter's experience on the water teaches us about faith and fear. Why we will always need Jesus, regardless of how mature we become in our faith. You don't have to have everything figured out or possess extraordinary abilities to make a difference. Bring what you have to Jesus, and trust Him with the results. And when you begin to sink, remember that you can call out to Him. Scripture: Matthew 14:1–36 Join us at Family Church! Matthew 12 | Woody Burpo

What does Jesus want more than religious ritual? In Matthew 12, Jesus confronts the Pharisees over their understanding of the Sabbath and reveals something much deeper: God desires mercy, not empty religious performance. Pastor Woody walks through Matthew 12 and challenges us to examine our hearts. Are we simply checking religious boxes, or are we allowing Jesus to transform the way we treat people, respond to conviction, and live our everyday lives? This message also explores Sabbath as God's gift. Instead of seeing rest as another rule, we can learn to intentionally stop, rest, delight, and contemplate the Lord. Most importantly, Matthew 12 reminds us that our relationship with Jesus isn't about earning our place. Jesus calls us family.

You Are a Champion Too

You Are a Champion | Seeing Yourself the Way God Sees You | Family Church You are fearfully and wonderfully made. But how often do we actually live like we believe that? In this powerful message from Family Church, Daniel challenges us to stop defining ourselves by our mistakes and begin seeing ourselves through the eyes of God. Psalm 139:14 tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, while Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. This message explores: What it means to be intentionally created by God Why we shouldn't define ourselves by our mistakes How to stop focusing on the "black dot" Why our inefficiencies don't disqualify us What it means to be wonderfully made How God gives us purpose What Ephesians 2:10 says about good works How to live as an example of Jesus Why parents need to speak life into their children What it means to be a champion of the faith Why our identity is rooted in Jesus Why Christians are called to encourage one another How to speak life instead of death Why we need to encourage the people already inside our church family How our spiritual family can become a place of belonging The "I love this about you" challenge How encouragement can become a way of sharing the Gospel The challenge is simple: See yourself the way God sees you. You are intentionally made. You are God's handiwork. You were created for good works. You are a champion of the faith. And you have an opportunity to encourage someone else this week. Speak life. Encourage someone. Be a champion.

What do you do when God doesn't work the way you expected Him to? In Matthew 11, John the Baptist finds himself in prison and begins to question whether Jesus really is the Messiah. The surprising part isn't that John has questions—the surprising part is how Jesus responds. Jesus doesn't shame John. He doesn't reject him. He answers him with kindness. This chapter reminds us that we can bring our questions to God. We can trust Him when life is difficult. We can repent when He reveals something that needs to change. And, most importantly, we can come to Jesus. Jesus says: "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28 Whether you're tired, discouraged, confused, joyful, burdened, or simply don't know what to do next, the invitation is the same: Come to Jesus. In this message: God welcomes our questions Why following Jesus doesn't mean life will always be easy Trusting God when He doesn't work the way we expect The importance of repentance Staying teachable in our faith Finding rest in Jesus Learning to come to Jesus in every circumstance The Gospel of Matthew | Family Church

What does it really mean to follow Jesus? In Matthew 10, Jesus takes His disciples from being learners to being sent ones. They had spent time watching Jesus, learning from Jesus, and growing—and now Jesus was sending them out to advance the Kingdom of God. In this message, Pastor Woody challenges us to understand that following Jesus is about more than Sundays. We are called to learn, grow, and go. You don't have to know everything before you can be used by God. You don't have to have all the answers. You simply need to be willing to obey. God has already given you something that someone else needs. Freely you have received. Freely give. This message explores: • What it means to move from disciple to sent one • Why Sundays alone will never be enough • How God wants to use what He's already taught you • Why you don't need all the answers to share Jesus • How to trust God when He sends you into difficult situations • Why obedience is more important than having the perfect words • How to recognize your value in God's eyes • What it means to live every day on assignment • How we can advance God's Kingdom in ordinary moments You are not simply a church attendee. You are a disciple. And if you're a disciple, you're also someone Jesus is sending. Learn. Grow. Go. 📖 Matthew 10 📍 Family Church 🎙️ Pastor Woody #FamilyChurch #Matthew10 #KingdomAdvancement #FollowingJesus #ChristianDiscipleship #YouAreSent 00:00 Welcome to Family Church 01:00 Why Fellowship Matters 02:00 Studying Matthew Together 03:00 Matthew 10 — Jesus Sends His Disciples 05:00 From Disciple to Apostle 07:00 You Are Sent 08:00 The Impossible Assignment 10:00 Freely You Have Received, Freely Give 12:00 Don't Let Religion Replace Love 13:00 Learning to Trust God's Provision 15:00 Sheep Among Wolves 16:00 The Cost of Following Jesus 18:00 Persecution and Difficult Times 20:00 Sometimes We Cause Our Own Problems 21:00 God Will Give You the Words 23:00 You Don't Have to Know Everything 24:00 Following Jesus Has a Cost 25:00 Don't Be Afraid 27:00 God Knows You and Cares About You 29:00 You Are Valuable 30:00 Acknowledging Jesus Publicly 32:00 Don't Deny Jesus Through What You Don't Do 34:00 Loving God More Than Anyone Else 35:00 Pick Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus 37:00 Your Job Is Obedience 38:00 Be Nice to Other Christians 39:00 The Enemy Wants You to Feel Worthless 40:00 You Are Valuable to God 42:00 From Learner to Sent One 44:00 Living Every Day on Assignment
Matthew 8 | Woody Burpo
2026/07/20
What happens when Jesus moves from teaching with authority to demonstrating it?
In this episode, Pastor Woody walks through Matthew 8, where Jesus heals the sick, welcomes outsiders, calms storms, casts out demons, and reveals His authority over every area of life. Through six powerful encounters, we're reminded that Jesus still meets hurting people with compassion and power today.
Whether you're facing fear, sickness, shame, uncertainty, or impossible circumstances, this conversation points to one unchanging truth: Jesus has authority over it all.
You'll also hear practical encouragement about bringing others to Jesus and living on mission every day—even in unexpected places.
Summary
Matthew 8 marks a dramatic shift in Jesus' ministry.
After revealing the principles of God's Kingdom through the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus begins demonstrating His authority through miraculous encounters with broken people.
Pastor Woody walks through six stories that reveal Jesus' power over disease, sin, fear, nature, spiritual darkness, and impossible situations. More importantly, these miracles reveal God's heart toward people who feel forgotten, ashamed, or overwhelmed.
One of the central reminders from this message is that God is not mad at you. Jesus didn't avoid the leper—He reached out and touched him. That same compassion still defines the heart of Christ today.
The episode also explores the faith of the Roman centurion, the calming of the storm, the cost of discipleship, and the challenge to become people who don't simply experience Jesus—but who actively bring others to Him.
Pastor Woody closes with a practical story from a Burger King stop on the drive home from conference, illustrating that ministry opportunities often appear in ordinary moments when we're willing to be available.

The Sermon on the Mount: More Than You Think | Matthew 5 | Family Church Matthew Chapter 5 contains some of the most well-known words Jesus ever spoke — and some of the most misunderstood. In this message, our guest speaker walks us through the entire chapter, verse by verse, unpacking what Jesus was really saying in the Beatitudes, in His teachings on murder, adultery, divorce, oaths, and loving your enemies. Here's what most people miss: Jesus wasn't coming to get rid of the Old Testament. He came to complete it — to be the lens through which all of it finally makes sense. And when you read Matthew 5 through that lens, everything shifts. In this message you'll discover: What "poor in spirit" and "blessed are those who mourn" actually mean Why the hunger and thirst Jesus talks about is nothing like a mid-afternoon snack craving How Jesus raises the bar from action to heart — and why that's actually good news What the Sermon on the Mount has to say about your marriage Why "love your enemies" is the most radical thing Jesus ever said This is part of our ongoing series reading through the book of Matthew together — because the Bible is enough. 📖 Scripture: Matthew 5:1–48 📍

Advancing the Kingdom: What Do You Need to Give Up? | Matthew 16 | Family Church
2026/03/09
What does it really mean to advance the Kingdom of God?
In this message from Matthew 16, Pastor Woody challenges us to stop seeing life only from a human perspective and begin seeing it from a spiritual one.
Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him.
That means surrendering our plans, our pride, and sometimes even our comfort so that God's Kingdom can move forward through our lives. In this sermon you'll discover:
• Why your values determine the direction of your life
• The difference between advancing your kingdom and advancing God's Kingdom
• The spiritual authority Jesus has given believers
• Why seeing life from only a human perspective is dangerous
• What you may need to give up to follow Jesus fully If we want to see lives transformed, disciples made, and the gospel spread, it begins with surrender.
The question is simple: What is God asking you to give up so His Kingdom can advance through you?

Work vs. Job: Advancing the Kingdom Where You Are
2026/03/04
How do you advance God's Kingdom at your job? In this message from Family Church, Care Pastor Jason Dallas teaches the difference between your work and your job — and how understanding that difference can transform your mindset, your attitude, and your impact in the workplace.
Through Genesis 4 (Cain and Abel), Colossians 3:23, and Matthew 20 (the Parable of the Vineyard Workers), we learn:
• Your work is your title — your job is obedience to God
• Kingdom advancement starts with purpose
• Passion is stewardship, not chasing feelings
• Persistence means trusting God's grace, not fairness Whether you love your job, feel overlooked, or are considering a change, this message will challenge you to shift your focus from comparison to calling.
At Family Church, we exist to build strong families across all generations on biblical foundations for spiritual growth and Kingdom advancement.

Facing Giants Together | David & Goliath | Family Sunday at Family Church
2026/02/23
What do you do when the giant in front of you feels impossible to defeat?
On Family Sunday at Family Church, we gathered kids and adults together to revisit one of the most powerful stories in Scripture — David and Goliath from 1 Samuel 17.
Through a fun and unforgettable live illustration, we were reminded that: Giants don't disappear just because we ignore them. You can't fight spiritual battles with worldly methods. Preparation happens in private before victory happens in public. Sometimes God removes the giant… and sometimes He gives you strength to face it. Parents, kids, families — this message is for all of us. Whether your giant is fear, anxiety, finances, marriage struggles, parenting challenges, or something no one else sees, the battle belongs to the Lord. We are called to fight in the name of Jesus — not in our own strength.
If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs strength to face their giant today.

Freedom in Christ & Living by the Spirit | Spiritual Growth
2026/02/18
What does it really mean to be free in Christ?
In this powerful message from our Who We Are series, Pastor Woody walks through Galatians 5 and reminds us that Jesus didn't die just so we could attend church — He died so we could live in freedom.
Many believers live morally… but not meaningfully. We attend services… but stay stuck in cycles of shame. We try harder… but don't walk in Spirit-led power.
Galatians teaches us:
• Christ has truly set us free • We must not return to slavery
• The sinful nature and the Spirit are at war
• Freedom is not license — it's power to serve in love
• The fruit of the Spirit grows when we feed the Spirit
In a moving moment, our church family wrote their sins down, nailed them to the cross, and watched them burn — symbolizing the truth that Jesus covers and removes our sin.
