It’s no secret Reform isn’t very good at vetting – earlier this year, even Nigel Farage admitted it’s been “pisspoor” in the past – but perhaps this isn’t the main scandal. Worse than the fact Reform struggles to detect people with extreme views wanting to stand under its banner, once the party finds out about them, it often happily lets them stay.  To drive the point home, here are ten examples of Reform councillors who have been exposed for making racist, far-right and conspiratorial comments online. A new report from HOPE not hate reveals that 43% of the British public would be unhappy with a Reform UK government. HOPE not hate finds that anti-Reform voters are a bigger bloc than Reform’s own waning support base. It was late on a Friday night last September and Ant Middleton, the ex-special forces soldier, had an exciting announcement to make. He had launched a cryptocurrency token and fans could now buy in. But after just nine days, without explanation, he stopped promoting the token. The price of ANT Coin plummeted. And Middleton hasn’t mentioned it since. It is 25 years since the Oldham riots. On the morning of Saturday, May 26, 2001, a six-feet tall, shaven-headed man walked into The Lark public house in Oldham. David Tickle cut a menacing figure. A pub doorman based twenty miles away in Wigan, he was a hardened veteran of pub brawls. Accompanying him was a local hooligan who knew the area well. Reform UK continues to dominate the radical right, anti-immigrant sphere and stands to win hundreds of seats. ‘Young Bob’ is one of the young rising stars in Britain’s far-right scene.  As well as having gained over 100,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), he is an ambassador for Turning Point UK (an offshoot of the far-right American organisation), an associate of the serial criminal and anti-Muslim extremist Stephen Lennon (AKA Tommy Robinson), and - in a sign of the increasing acceptance of far-right views in the media - a regular guest on TalkTV.  But the scene Young Bob is involved in doesn’t seem like a happy ship. The far right have long framed hate as “protecting the community”. The spate of anti-migrant protests that commenced this summer is no exception, with organisers exploiting local safety concerns through racist scapegoating. Chants of “Save our kids” mingle with “Tell the nation, remigration” and “Send them home”. UKIP leader Nick Tenconi is treating Britain’s anti-migrant protests as his own personal roadshow. Like a far-right whackamole, he has popped up at locations across the country, taking advantage of fired-up protesters to preach hate “in the name of God”.  But, in reality, he hosts exceptionally extreme plans which promoted the deportation of one in seven of the UK population.
