Katie Jayne
2026/11/05
Katie Jayne is a rising country music artist and an early rising breakfast radio personality, but somehow she manages to fit a Food Bytes appearance into her full-on schedule. When not belting our original songs live on stage across the country or waking up the good folk of Muswellbrook on her Power FM radio show, Katie Jayne occassionally wanders into the kitchen to whip up delicious healthy meals. She made the decision to give up the grog a few years back and takes us through that experience and the impact on and off stage, including her new project: an album of drinking songs about NOT drinking.     The Food Poll this week has no meat, just potatoes. It's the complete hot chip conundrum: Would you choose crinkle cut, shoestring fries or thick cut chips?    Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Manu & Clarissa Feildel
2026/10/28
They are a dynamic culinary combination: Manu & Clarissa Feildel have taken their kitchen chemistry and put it on the pages of their new book Butter and Spice (Are Media Books) and they share it with us this week.  Their life together is one big food-filled adventure. We delve into what they grew up eating, what is on the table now and who is the boss in the Feildel kitchen.  You will be introduced to a new cuisine: 'Frasian.'  The Food Poll is a mini World Culinary Cup. Of these four cuisines, which would you rate the highest: Greek, Italian, Japanese or Mexican?  Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Conor Curran
2026/10/21
Conor Curran is back, and he's brought his fabulous cookbook 'Eat More Greek' (Murdoch Books) along with him. While the name Conor Curran does not appear very Greek, growing up, his grandma - better known as YiaYia - helped shape his culinary choices. Conor shares some of his favourites dishes from childhood and from the book, plus we revisit his MasterChef experience. In the five years since we spoke, Conor has built a big following on social media and honing his skills as a mixologist. We get the rundown on some special Greek-style cocktails.   We are not raising the bar this week for the Food Poll, we are opening it to ask whether your preference is red or white wine.
Todd McKenney
2026/10/14
Todd McKenney is the ultimate all-round entertainer. He treads the boards, hosts TV and radio shows and as we discover in this episode, Todd can knock up a pretty handy dinner party in his swanky new kitchen with his you-beaut speed oven. The boy from WA became the Boy from Oz and that role - plus his part in making Dancing with the Stars a television blockbuster - has allowed Todd to take his popular one-man show to venues across the country. Check out his website http://www.toddmckenney.com.au/ for the latest touring dates.  Todd shares how his career started, his love of greyhounds, the one place he doesn't feel totally comfortable and his dream dinner party guests.  It's a fizzy, bubbly, refreshing, liquid Food Poll this week as we pop the top of a sarsaparilla or a creaming soda and ask in a very deep Australian, masculine non-AI voice the question: And the best cold drink is a ...?      Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Adam Liaw
2026/10/08
Adam Liaw returns to Food Bytes armed with news of his latest television show and it's a ripper. Australia's Greatest Recipe premieres this week on ABC TV and iView and it has all the ingredients for success, including participation from the time-honoured Country Women's Association.  Adam shares his favourite recipe and takes us inside the new show which he co-hosts with Pia Miranda. We also reveal Adam's sweet tooth secret and reflect on his booming media career.     This week's Food Poll is easier than shelling peas or shucking corn. No labour required, just a simple choice of these vegetable favourites: peas or corn.
Sam Riley
2026/10/01
At the height of her swimming career, our guest this week Sam Riley won the hearts of the country as she powered her way to Olympic medals, Commonwealth Games glory, world records and world championships. Sam chats to us about food, family, her memories of being an elite athlete on the world stage and her life today as a busy wife and mum. And with the warmer weather on the way, Sam has a timely reminder about the importance of teaching kids to swim from a very early age.    https://kidsalive.com.au/swim-into-summer/ Then we jump straight from the pool into the frying pan, with a hot topic for our Food Poll this week: Fried chicken ... yay or nay? Ash Williams
2026/09/23
Ash Williams has a simple mantra: Say yes to everything. And thankfully, that extented to our invitation to be a guest on Food Bytes. What a guest he turned out to be. Ash came armed with stories from his debut book (Almost) Killing it in Hollywood (Echo Publishing), a chronicle of his crazy adventures seeking international stardom. Trying his hand at everything from sitcom acting to online tickling videos, stand-up comedy and topless bartending, Ash paid the rent and his dues at the same time.  We also discover a more domestic Ash exists, as he shares his poached egg secret, a new recipe for a Mexican-style healthy treat and his special Ash Bulletproof Coffee.   The is no sitting on the fence with the Food Poll this week. Put your vote where your mouth is for your dumpling choice: Is it savoury or the golden syrup variety?     Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Christie Hayes
2026/09/16
Christie Hayes is our joyous and vivacious guest this week. You might remember her for her years as Kirsty Sutherland in Home and Away, a character at the centre of some incredibly controversial storylines. Christie remembers those Summer Bay days fondly and more recently in her broadcasting career, there's been some real life controversy.  Christie made national headlines when she confronted Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Hobart breakfast radio with some hard questions about his government's record dealing with domestic violence. Hardly the normal FM breakfast show banter, but a testament to the real, authentic person Christie is, on and off the air.    Christie now hosts her own podcast called Christie Hayes Daily and has combined that with being a domestic goddess, wife to husband Justin, mum to three children and (spoiler alert) owner of a new oven. You will have to listen to the end to understand.    Remember the classic Iced VoVo biscuits? One of Kev's childhood favourites gets a Food Bytes Food Poll 2026 reality check. Are you a Yes Yes or No No for the VoVo's?       Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Two Raw Sisters
2026/09/10
This week on the show, meet Margo and Rosa - otherwise known as the Two Raw Sisters - who are bringing their uncomplicated, healthy, fresh cooking to a table near you. The Kiwi siblings are smashing it online and their latest book How We Cook (Allen & Unwin) is a tsunami of recipes, ideas, time-savers, food prep tips and useful, practical suggestions to make life in the kitchen a lot more fun and enjoyable. Margo and Rosa also share the personal challenges that led to them establishing the Two Raw Sisters.     For the weekly Food Poll, it's the platters that matter, as we wheel out two delicious after dinner selections. Will you go the cheese platter or the dessert option?      Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Glenda Linscott
2026/09/03
As 'Rita the Beater' in the final years of the iconic Australian television drama Prisoner, Glenda Linscott scared the living suitcase out of a generation of viewers. Glenda joins us to share her amazing story, which has taken her from from Zimbabwe to Wentworth to today living in regional South Australia. The acting bug bit at an early age and a life on the stage and screen was always the goal. 40 years on, the fascination surrounding Rita has grown and hardly a day goes by when Glenda doesn't have a 'Rita' moment. Glenda has had an equally interesting culinary journey and here she explains how her relationship with the kitchen has evolved over the years.      The weekly Food Poll goes right to the comfort food zone as we ask you to choose between tuna mornay and nachos.    Glenda will be appearing at the Prisoner event on Sunday October 18th celebrating 40 years of Episode 692. Nathan Cavaleri
2026/08/26
Former child guitar prodigy, recording star and slightly nervous Food Bytes guest: that sums up the 2026 version of Nathan Cavaleri, who joins us this week to talk about his amazing 44 years on this planet. Nathan talks about his latest show - the Growing Pains Tour. It's a musical story in which he shares life's highs and lows, including being diagnosed with leukaemia, being a child star, being bullied at school, sharing the stage with some of the world's biggest stars and his anxiety attacks - and how he's come out the other side.  We find out about his relationship with coffee and his signature dish, and he also shares some fond memories of his days working as a labourer for his bricklaying dad.  The weekly Food Poll goes directly to the supermarket bakery aisle. What do you think of the Woolies mud cake? Is it a yay or a nay?         Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Lee Holmes
2026/08/20
Gut health is not a cute, catchy brand name or a corporate advertising slogan, but it is the key to our general wellbeing and our guest this week Lee Holmes is an expert in the field.  Lee is a qualified clinical nutritionist, a yoga and meditation teacher and author of Eat to Heal (Rockpool Publishing). Lee shares her insights on the many and varied ways we can achieve good gut health without sacrificing all the good things in life.  The Food Poll is always a treat but this week it's a traditional confectionery treat that comes in a myriad of shapes and sizes. Are you a yay or a nay for licorice?        Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Anthony Phelan
2026/08/13
Anthony Phelan has one of those faces that everyone knows, but we're not sure exactly where from. Currently treading the boards in Death of a Salesman at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne with Anthony LaPaglia and Alison Whyte, Anthony has been on our screens and stages for much of the last 45 years.  Here, he shares some hilarious moments from his first stage appearances and a recent brush with fame in the pickle aisle of his local supermarket. Anthony is a wobbling vegetarian, a keen vegetable grower, an occasional dog whisperer and a keen cook and jam maker, which makes him perfectly cast as a guest on our show.    For our weekly Food Poll, we borrow from the Bard and ask 'To dunk or not to dunk? That is the question'   Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Diesel
2026/08/06
Diesel - aka Mark Lizotte - is our brilliant guest on this episode, taking us from his childhood to the By Request tour he's about to begin, and everything in between. And when we say everything, we mean EVERYTHING. From his first musical instrument to learning and pawning his cello, forming and naming Johnny Diesel and The Injectors to cooking the perfect fried egg. And the icing on the cake is the Diesel-made icing on the cake. Rock Star and Kitchen Star!      Then it's time to 'Broc and Poll' as we pose the question: Broccoli - yay or nay?  Get details of the Diesel By Request tour https://www.dieselmusic.com.au/shows Food Bytes with Sarah Patterson and Kevin Hillier  Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Annabel Crabb
2026/07/30
Few people can lay claim to having the Australian Prime Minister cook dinner for them, let alone that event taking place at The Lodge, but our guest this week has that and more on her plate. Annabel Crabb - host of the popular ABC TV show Kitchen Cabinet - joins us and spills the beans, peas and corn on her kitchen experience with Anthony Albanese, revealing how the Wagon Wheels almost fell off! Dessert spoons are drawn for the Food Poll as the traditional berry trifle battles it out with the precocious newcomer - the chocolate trifle. Winner takes all.     Broadcast each Sunday on the ACE Radio Network - https://aceradio.com.au/ Catch us also on: Radio 2DD - Easy Listening - On Line - https://www.2dd.online/ Follow us on Facebook...https://www.facebook.com/foodbyteswithsarahpatterson/ Twitter & Instagram - @sarahfoodbytes Producer - Christopher Gates  © 2026 Howdy Partners Media See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
