Saul was looking at Reddit RPG topics and there was a question about if you could bring back suport for any out of print TTRPG which one would it be.  It was pretty open ended question and as one might expect the answers were very varied.   The games ranged from old to obscure.        Saul noticed that some of the games may not have been very old or had in fact not been out of print.  It seemed some of those posting just wanted a new edition to a game they liked.        Saul asked Jolene about bringing back out of print games and she just flatly asked why?   That was a good question, why bring back and support out of print games.   It would seem that the consumer had spoken and those games were not very good or popular enough to warrant keeping them in print.      That discussion of Saul trying to explain that indeed some of those out of print games deserved to be brought back.  As you will hear Jolene was not very convinced.    Thank you all for Listening!   You can email us at [email protected] Podcast Art by Jim D. Saul was thinking about his Monterey Dresden games he ran at home and at local conventions a few years ago.  Saul even bought the big Dresden Files rpg by Evil Hat but found the system more complicated than he had expected.  He had talked to Jolene about it in the past on how he wanted a lighter game to run his Monterey Dresden games.          From the official Dresden Files game Saul converted his characters to Fate Core and then "homebrewed" the games by not using the rules as written.   Evil Hat came out with Fate Accelerated which did streamline the Fate rules a bit but still not to Saul's satisfaction.          This is where Legend of the Mist comes in.  Now Saul and Jolene are not looking for yet another FTTRPG but the idea of a super simple and easy to get into rpg system intrigued Saul enough to go to their crowd funding page.  And indeed the rules looked really light and simple.        Saul and Jolene discussed these two games and the result is this episode.  Which does "lighter" better Fate or Legend.     Thank you all for Listening!   You can email us at [email protected] Podcast Art by Jim D. Saul was looking at Reddit posts and came across a question.  What advice would you give an experienced player.  Saul thought about this question and asked himself what advice would he give to himself or any of the players in his RPG groups?   He also thought that most advice is geared toward new players but thought there was advice that even experienced TTRPG players could use.      Saul mentioned this to Jolene and she questioned why would someone give advice to experienced players?  That discussion lead to the current episode. Saul was thinking about the different ways characters for TTRPGs are made.  At first was the classic D&D which he 1st played in 1978 with his brother and two friends.  The Class and Level system that all D&D games Saul played used.   Since then D&D was played at various times with various intensity.        Then Saul was thinking of Dark Conspiracy which didn't have the classic Class and Level system and had a Lifepath system.  Which Saul enjoyed making the character very much.  Playing various games over the years where he has played over 100 different TTRPGs he thought about how they handled character creation.       Discussing with Jolene about the different TTRPGs they have played and which systems they preferred or were surprised to like.  From that discussion this episode topic was formed.      Thank you all for Listening!   You can email us at [email protected] Podcast Art by Jim D. Somehow Saul missed the 20th Anniversary of the Leroy Jenkins but it came up during the last gaming session both Saul and Jolene were playing in.  So at one point there is a big battle at a beach where Jolene's character went charging into before any fellow players could react.         Post the game session another player called what Jolene did a Leroy Jenkins which made everyone laugh and Jolene stating that she did not pull a Leroy Jenkins.  Jolene looked online and found that this was not a rare occurence in TTRPGs.       Jolene and Saul discussed this and other situations to figure out if they could be considered a Leroy Jenkins move or not.  The result is this episode of the podcast.       Thank you all for Listening!   You can email us at [email protected] Podcast Art by Jim D.
