Heather is one of our favourite guests and collaborators and she’s back to tell us everything we have missed since we last hung out. Elizabeth started her bodywork career with an interest in helping pregnant people. She holds a midwifery license in the United States and even did some training here before ultimately deciding to take another route. Her search for a meaningful career led her to learn Maya Abdominal massage, an ancient abdominal massage supporting the muscles, fascia, organs, circulation, and lymphatic system. This non-invasive technique alongside other holistic modalities was fulfilling but came with limitations. She decided to pursue massage therapy to gain more access to helping even more women. Mark is halfway through school to become a Massage Therapist. Michael is the owner of EversonCE, a professional continuing education brand focused on practical, evidence-informed massage and manual therapy education. This online platform was a career shift that Michael made during the pandemic to provide continuing education to manual therapists who no longer had access to in-person learning. We learned about how this RMT and Manual Osteopath got into the world of teaching and then the shift into online education. He has also recently left Nova Scotia where he started his career in manual therapy and relocated to Winnipeg after a 36 hour road trip. Sam is back in our office to discuss some hot topics that appear in social media chats and give us his opinions on these topics. Len has done many things in his life and being in the right place at the right time led to him becoming a Thai massage practitioner. But not just any Thai massage practitioner. Len has won medal after medal in Thai massage championships as well as overall championships competing against massage therapists from around the globe. Lauriann is a musician turned LMT, turned researcher and author. She left the performance world after many years of working up to a hundred hours a week and being shoulder to shoulder with musical greats to find a tactile career that would bring more balance to her life. She went to a great massage school in Seattle, graduated, passed her exams, and never practiced as a massage therapist. Travis is a former writer and photographer turned massage therapist in California.
