Send us Fan Mail 11 weeks in on the countdown clock of 52, Dave and Candace Rae hit Week 42 of their journey before officially shipping out of Winnipeg! As the endless barrage of "So, where are you actually moving?" rolls in, the couple reveals how they’ve turned the secrecy into a game—humorously deflecting every nosey inquiry with a deadpan "We're moving to space." That playful deflection sparks an honest, hilarious deep dive into interplanetary living. While Dave is completely captivated by futuristic space exploration and off-world ambition, Candace Rae makes it crystal clear that leaving Earth is definitely not on her bucket list. From sci-fi daydreams, the conversation turns back to home turf: reflecting on Winnipeg’s shifting landscape, immigration, local civic politics, and the broader identity of the city. Dave reflects on 25 years of living in the Prairies while Candace Rae revisits memories of growing up here, exploring how much Winnipeg has evolved—and what it really feels like to pack up and say goodbye. Send us Fan Mail We are officially on Week 44 of our 52-week countdown to leaving Winnipeg!  With the fall air rolling into Manitoba, the seasonal flu bugs have officially entered the house. Candace dives into why our childhood sickness habits—from Campbell's chicken noodle soup and The Price Is Right with Bob Barker to a mom handing you a pill—differ so much from the holistic home playbook today. Between raw onions on the soles of feet, mullein, bone broths, fasting to let the body's internal army fight off invaders, and reflexology lung meridians, we break down why returning to traditional wellness habits keeps the family grounded. Plus, Dave revisits the time a burger led to 24 hours of total hallucination under the radio station control desk.  In the back half, we look at the true heartbeat of Dave’s 20+ years living in Winnipeg: hockey. From coaching Junior hockey with the St. Boniface Seals and Transcona Railers to grabbing the PA mic for the Manitoba Moose at the new arena, Dave traces how the game opened incredible doors. We relive our wild trip flying private alongside "The Golden Jet" Bobby Hull to Nashville, getting escorted straight off the tarmac, the upcoming Teemu Selänne charity lunch at Rae & Jerry’s for CancerCare Manitoba, and the unmatched joy of calling play-by-play for tiny Timbits players during intermission.  Timestamps & Chapters: 00:00 – Countdown Check-in: Week 44 & Frank's Pizza Sweet Potato Fry Reveal 02:18 – Sick Days Then vs. Now: Days of Our Lives, Bob Barker & Childhood Baby-Sitters 07:44 – The Earls Burger Disaster: Crawling Under the Radio Station Desk 12:00 – Frank’s Pizza & Vernaus Auto Body 13:58 – Natural Home Remedies: Foot Reflexology, Lung Meridians & Fasting the Body's "Army" 19:00 – Modern Healthcare Rhythms: Hospital Wait Times, Over-Prescribing & Virtual Care 23:15 – Clay Stevenson’s Wisdom: "Be Where Your Feet Are" 25:20 – Broths vs. Digestion: Why Feeding a Cold Isn’t Always the Answer 30:40 – Nostalgia & Convenience: 1998 Malls, Streaming Fatigue & Disney VHS Tapes 34:40 – Vernaus Auto Body & Anita’s Eli Roth Horror Movie Credits 37:25 – Coaching Junior Hockey: St. Boniface Riels & Transcona Railers 39:40 – Flying Private with Bobby Hull to Nashville: Tarmac Escorts & Five-Star Suites 43:40 – Special Guest Teemu Selänne Coming to Rae & Jerry’s with CancerCare Manitoba 47:30 – The Hot Line Reunion & Mike Keane Babysitting Vegas the Great Dane 52:20 – Timbits Intermission Games & "Old is the Goal" 59:50 – Retirement Dreams: Turning an Old Mall into a Community Oasis 1:01:40 – Looking Ahead to July 30th & Final Winnipeg Broadcasts Support the show CONNECT & WORK WITH US: 📲 Candace Rae on Instagram 📲 Dave on Instagram ✨ The Rae Within SPONSORS: 🍕 Frank's Pizza ➔ https://frankspizza.ca/ 🚗 Vernaus Auto Body ➔ https://vernausautobody.com/ 🌴 Yucatan Property Scouts ➔ https://yps.mx/

Between West Edmonton Mall adventures—from shooting ranges to the Santa Maria replica—and Candace’s unfiltered take on water park slide closures, the trip proved that family getaways are equal parts fun and endurance test.  The heart of the episode turns toward live rock and roll. After catching the Foo Fighters’ relentless set in Edmonton and catching AC/DC rattling the stadium walls on the drive home, Dave and Candace tackle the big debate: when does a legendary band cross the line from rocking hard into hanging it up? The conversation expands into decades of concert memories across Western Canada, the timeless magic of dingy local clubs, and how crowd culture has shifted from bootleg cassette tapers to sea-of-phone-screens.  Episode Highlights 00:00 – Canada geese takeovers, sisterly tattoos, and sponsor shoutouts 02:30 – Post-road-trip hangover: 2,600 km, zero recovery days, and the school-year routine 05:15 – Unfiltered inner voices, singing accents, and the mystery behind the head chatter 08:15 – West Edmonton Mall recap: water park slide debacles, Santa Maria history, and boys at the shooting range 14:40 – Transit talk: LRT comparisons across Canadian cities and missed opportunities 17:15 – Foo Fighters live: Dave Grohl’s vocal longevity vs. AC/DC’s Brian Johnson facing the final curtain 21:30 – Passing down the torch: taking the boys to their first massive arena rock show 25:10 – Living Canvas Tattoo special alert: celebrating 20 years with $20/hour tattoos! Send us Fan Mail In this episode, Dave and Candace Rae look out across Manitoba and reflect on exploring beyond their own perimeter. From Candace’s recent keynote and wellness retreat out in Pinawa—complete with curious wild deer peering into the windows—to Dave realizing how many northern lakes, historic trails, and quiet provincial routes remain untouched on his bucket list, the conversation wanders through what it truly means to get off the beaten path. The episode also turns deeply personal as the hosts navigate an unexpected pivot on the home front. After learning their Junior A billet hockey player was suddenly traded eastward, Dave and Candace dive into an open, honest discussion about youth sports, family expectations, and the rare courage it takes for young athletes to pause and make choices for their own well-being rather than living vicariously through the dreams of others. Between roadside snack etiquette, small-town quirks, and plenty of laughs, Dave and Candace deliver a warm, candid, and funny look at the journeys people take—both across the map and within themselves.
