You’re Preparing Your Kids for Success—But Are You Preparing Them for Eternity?
2026/10/04
Are we preparing our kids for a successful life—or helping them prepare for eternity? In this message from our Made for More series, we explore how the promise of forever changes the way we parent. Our children’s greatest need is to know God, love Him, and follow Jesus. That purpose should shape our priorities, our schedules, and the faith we model every day. Through Deuteronomy 6 and Ephesians 6, we’re challenged to parent intentionally, make room for spiritual growth, and ask an honest question: Are we helping our kids move closer to Jesus, or unintentionally creating obstacles? Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or someone investing in the next generation, this message offers a call to action and a reminder of God’s grace. We can’t choose faith for our children, but we can keep pointing them toward the One who matters most. Learn more about Capital City Christian Church in Frankfort, KY, at CapCity.info. Why Your Marriage Is Not About You
2026/09/27
Marriage is not about you. It’s about honoring God and loving the person He has entrusted to you. In this message, Teaching Pastor Stephen “Doc” Pattison challenges us to see marriage through the lens of eternity. Your spouse is someone God deeply loves. How can your words, choices, and faithfulness help them grow closer to Him? Marriage can be hard, and loving well takes persistence. Doc offers a practical question for the difficult moments: What would a God-honoring spouse do next? Sometimes that means serving or forgiving. Sometimes it means confronting sin, getting help, or getting safe. Whether you’re married or not, this message invites you to consider how you can show God’s grace and truth in your closest relationships.
Does this life feel broken?
2026/09/20
Is this the way life is supposed to be—or were we made for something more? We live in a world marked by broken relationships, addiction, anxiety, injustice, pain, and death. Yet deep within us is a longing for something better. In this message, we explore how the resurrection of Jesus gives us real hope that everything sin has broken will one day be restored. Eternity isn’t only a promise for the future—it should reshape how we live today. It changes our priorities, gives us strength to persevere, and transforms how we treat the people around us. Who would you treat differently if you truly lived with eternity in mind? Because Jesus rose from the dead, death has been defeated. A day is coming when God will wipe away every tear and there will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain. The question is: Do we believe it enough to live like it? 📖 Key Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15; Revelation 21:1–4
Evidence of the Holy Spirit
2026/09/13
The Holy Spirit doesn’t simply work in us—He desires to work through us. In this message, we explore what it means to live under the Spirit’s influence and why His presence should produce visible evidence in our lives. The fruit of the Spirit is more than a list of admirable qualities; it reveals how God is transforming our character so others can encounter Jesus through us. As we surrender to the Holy Spirit, He changes the way we think, speak, respond, and love. His work within us equips us to reflect Christ and participate in the work He wants to accomplish through us. The Spirit needs evidence of His work in you because of the work He is trying to do through you. Join us as we discover how to recognize the Holy Spirit’s presence, follow His leading, and allow His fruit to become visible in our everyday lives.
Are you truly saved?
2026/09/06
Have you ever wondered if you could lose your salvation—or feared that your sin, doubts, or struggles have pushed you too far from God? In this message, we explore the promises and warnings found throughout Scripture. Salvation is a gift of grace made possible through Jesus, and it is far more secure than our feelings, behavior, or understanding. Jesus does not abandon us when we stumble, struggle, doubt, or sin—but He also calls us to remain faithful and continue following Him. Your salvation is secure when it depends on Jesus. He hasn’t given up on you, so don’t give up on Him.
5 Things You Should Know About Communion
2026/08/30
The Lord’s Supper may be one of the most familiar parts of Christian worship—but do we truly understand its meaning and power? In this message from our Uncomplicated series, we explore how Jesus transformed the Passover meal into the Lord’s Supper and answer some common questions: Who is invited to the table? Why does CapCity celebrate Communion every week? Why do we use bread and juice? And what does this meal mean for followers of Jesus? The Lord’s Supper is more than an individual moment between us and God. It is a family meal—a table of grace, memories, hope, and celebration. Here, we remember the sacrifice that made us family, recognize that through Jesus we are one body, and look forward to the day when everything will be restored and we will share the table with Him face to face. Scripture references: John 6:53–55; Luke 22:15–20; Acts 2:42; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 10:16–17; 1 Corinthians 11:20–26; Matthew 26:29
Worship Isn't Just Sunday Morning
2026/08/23
What is worship, really? Is it a song, a feeling, a Sunday morning routine — or something much bigger? In this message, we break down worship and try to make it uncomplicated by working through four simple (but challenging) questions: Who worships? What is worship? When and where do we worship? And why do we worship at all? Along the way, we look at what it means to worship "in spirit and in truth" (John 4), why fear and reverence may be a better barometer of true worship than warm feelings, why our lives Monday through Saturday validate what happens on Sunday (not the other way around), and why worship isn't confined to a building — it can happen on a lonely hiking trail, in a hospital room, or in the middle of your ordinary week. If you've ever wondered whether what you're doing counts as worship, this one's for you. 📖 Key passages: Philippians 2, John 4, Isaiah 6, Romans 12, Habakkuk 3, Acts 16
Love Is the Fastball
2026/08/16
What if everything we do as followers of Jesus flows from one thing: love? In this message, part of our Uncomplicated series, we dig into 1 John 4:8 and the well-known words of John 3:16 to explore what agape love — God's unconditional, sacrificial love — really means, and why it's the "fastball" every Christian needs to master before anything else matters. We'll talk about: The difference between agape love and the other kinds of love we experience (family, friendship, romance) What it means that God loved us — and continues to love us — regardless of what we've done Why loving people is the practical, undeniable proof of whether we truly love God How understanding "love languages" can help us love God and others better If you only walk away with one thing today, let it be this: God loves you. And if you want to talk more about what that means, we'd love to connect with you. 📖 Uncomplicated is a 5-week series revisiting some of the foundational ideas of the Christian faith using the Core 52 resource. Dangerous Prayers: "Send Me"
2026/08/09
"What if the answer to your prayer is… you? In this message from our Dangerous Prayers series, we look at Jesus’ words in Matthew 9: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” Through story after story, we see Jesus looking at people with deep compassion—not judgment—and inviting His followers to do the same. The problem isn’t that people need to be more ready for Jesus. The problem is that we need to be more ready to be Jesus to the people around us. The fields are ripe. People in our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, families, and everyday routines need to experience the love, mercy, and grace of Jesus. So when we pray for God to send workers into the harvest, we need to be prepared for His answer: “Send me.” Are you ready to pray this dangerous prayer? Lord of the harvest, send out workers—because Frankfort is ripe for harvest. Send me." Ben Webb, Lead Minister
Two Roads, Two Destinations
2026/07/26
Here’s the deal: there are just two roads, Jesus says … only two roads … and we are all on one or the other. And here it is, guys, they won’t both take you to the same place. They are moving toward opposite destinations. Do you understand how countercultural that is? Our culture prefers this idea of many roads climbing the same mountain toward one God. Jesus gives a radically different picture: two roads going in opposite directions. And every one of us is moving along one road or the other. There is no third road and there is no fence to sit on. And guys, if Jesus really is God, in a bod, then I’d listen to him … not them!
What Jesus Really Meant by Do Not Judge
2026/07/19
When we cast judgement on someone, declaring them in our hearts to be not worth our time, not worth our words, not worth our love, then we are alienating them from the knowledge that they have been saved. Our pride when we judge could be the reason that someone doesn’t know that God loves them. Don’t let your need to boost yourself up be the reason someone doesn’t know that. And don’t let your own ego be the reason you don’t know that. God has loved you. Loved you so much that he has hated your sin and offered you a way out of it. And he has loved the person next to you. It’s your job to make sure they know it. And you cannot love someone while believing you are better than them.
Seek First: The Answer to Anxiety
2026/07/12
Guys, I still don’t know exactly where that line is between God-honoring worry and God-dishonoring anxiety. But I do know this … Life is going to throw a lot of stuff at you. But we’re Jesus followers. And we know there is a God … a big G God. And we that he flat-out cares … kind of like the perfect Dad. The cross proves that. And we know that no matter what happens he’ll be there. That’s his promise. And with his help, we’ll get through whatever comes … as long as we seek first his Kingdom, and his righteousness. Here’s how the apostle Paul puts it: “For this reason we never become discouraged. Even though our physical being is gradually decaying, yet our spiritual being is renewed day after day. And this small and temporary trouble we suffer will bring us a tremendous and eternal glory, much greater than the trouble. For we fix our attention, not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. What can be seen lasts only for a time, but what cannot be seen lasts forever.” (2 Corinthians 4.16-18) One guy put it like this, “There’s nothing a good resurrection can’t fix.” (Don Carson) And it’s coming.
The Lord's Prayer: The Most Un-Prayed Prayer Ever
2026/07/05
If you are not willing to honor God outside your prayer time, why would you expect God to honor what you say during your prayer time” If you are not trying to honor God on Monday, and Tuesday, and all of the rest of our “unholy days,” why would we expect God to honor what we ask him on Sunday. Wouldn’t that be kind of like … hypocrisy? Guys, God will not be “used.” God is no fool. God’s hypocrisy detector is unfailingly accurate. So … when we pray, it’s not about performance … it’s not about manipulation … it will be gutted by hypocrisy … it’s about seeing God as God, and seeing self as not God. That’s where we’re going to go in just a few minutes. But first, let’s get ourselves ready to see the real Lord’s Prayer … Guys, it’s probably the most prayed prayer ever … at least for Jesus followers. Most of you probably know it by heart. You’ve probably prayed it hundreds of times, maybe … thousands for some of you old guys. But I’d still call it the most unprayed prayer ever … at least for us Jesus followers.
Lies & Integrity
2026/06/28
Your words matter. Tell the truth. A Jesus Follower will live differently. And it’s going to stand out like salt and light in this world. JESUS’ FOLLOWERS ARE CALLED TO RADICAL TRUTHFULNESS AND INTEGRITY. We are called to be honest people. Be honest with the oaths that you make. Be honest with the contracts and the promises you make. Be honest with all your words. Because any failure to keep your word is a sin before God. And your reputation may take a hit, but Jesus’ reputation will take a hit as well. And when people see Jesus wrong, people go to hell. Jesus kind of says that. If Jesus followers choose not to be radical with their truthfulness, if we choose lies and we choose to break promises — Jesus says that we are submitting to the influence of the evil one, who is the father of lies.
Anger, Contempt & Grace
2026/06/21
So anger and contempt is a poison we willingly drink way too often. Here it is: What is the antidote?’ It’s an idea we talk about here a lot: “Grace.” And, when it comes to anger and contempt, grace looks like “magnanimity” and “forgiveness.”
