Pacing My Passions: When God Gives the Vision—but Not the Timing
2026/09/22
What happens when your vision feels bigger than your present capacity? And how do you know whether your excitement is confirmation from God—or simply an emotion urging you to move too quickly? In Episode 94 of Eat Don’t Compete, I’m talking honestly about pacing my passions and learning to submit not only the vision to God, but also the timing. Every passion is not for every season, and everything we feel called to do does not require our immediate action. Sometimes God is asking us to start. Sometimes He is asking us to sustain what we have already started. And sometimes He is asking us to steward an idea slowly while He develops the capacity, character, clarity, and community we’ll need to carry it well. In this conversation, we explore: The difference between excitement and divine timing Why emotions need guardrails What happens when vision exceeds our current capacity The difference between starting something and sustaining it Why pacing does not mean denying who God created us to be Trusting God with the what, how, and when My question for the Holy Spirit this week is: “Holy Spirit, what am I trying to accelerate that You are asking me to steward slowly?” What is your question for the Holy Spirit? Share it in the comments. Scriptures referenced: 1 Peter 1:13 Ecclesiastes 3:1 Proverbs 19:2 Joshua 1 Subscribe for honest conversations about faith, identity, growth, purpose, and becoming who God is calling us to be. We Have to Participate in Our Wellness | PCOS, Perimenopause & Aging Well
2026/09/16
What happens when your body begins changing—and nobody prepared you for it? In this episode of Eat Don’t Compete, Jazmine sits down with wellness coach Pamela “Lady O” Odom for an honest conversation about PCOS, perimenopause, hormonal changes, nutrition, aging, and whole-body wellness. They discuss listening to your body, participating in your wellness, navigating changing symptoms, breaking unhealthy generational patterns, and why food should fuel you—not floor you. Lady O also shares how living with fibromyalgia began her wellness journey and taught her the value of patience, discipline, and individualized care. Because wellness is not one-size-fits-all—and women shouldn’t have to navigate these changes without honest conversation and community. I Taught People to Become Their Best Selves… Without God
2026/07/13
I wrote a book about becoming the best version of yourself. And I never once mentioned God. That realization has forced me to revisit what I believed about growth, self-improvement, strength, surrender, and the version of myself I spent years trying to become. Because what happens when we are constantly working on ourselves while God is trying to build us? What happens when self-improvement becomes easier than surrender? And what if the “best version” of ourselves we keep chasing is keeping us from being fully present with who God is calling us to be right now? In this episode of Eat Don’t Compete, I’m having an honest conversation about the shift from self-help to spiritual formation, why survival taught me to keep improving instead of surrendering, and what “becoming” looks like to me now that God is no longer absent from the process. This is not me pretending I have arrived. This is repentance. This is reflection. This is me looking back with grace while taking responsibility for what I know now. Maybe the question isn’t simply: “Who are you becoming?” Maybe the question is: Who is building you? In this conversation: Self-improvement vs. spiritual formation Becoming without God Surrendering the “best version” of yourself Strength, survival, and dependence on God Why presence matters more than endless striving Letting God into the places we keep trying to manage ourselves Surrendering old dreams for current assignments For more conversations like this, subscribe to Eat Don’t Compete and join me as we wrestle honestly with faith, identity, healing, surrender, and becoming who God is calling us to be. #EatDontCompete #ChristianPodcast #SpiritualGrowth #FaithJourney #SurrenderToGod
God Sees Me For Real | Accountability, Repentance & Hebrews 4:13
2026/07/13
In this devotional episode of Eat Don’t Compete, we’re sitting with Hebrews 4:13 and reflecting on what it really means to be accountable to God. This episode is not about fear, shame, or performing spirituality. It’s about realizing that God already sees us fully — not the version we try to present, not the polished version, not the “I’m fine” version — but who we are for real. And somehow, that truth is still an invitation. An invitation to repentance. An invitation to honesty. An invitation to return to the Father. An invitation to stop acting like the creator when we are the created. In this conversation, I’m processing what accountability has been revealing in my own heart — especially around responsibility, ministry, leadership, repentance, and humility. Because if we were created from God and for God, then our lives were never meant to be lived outside of His sight, His Word, or His direction. Scripture discussed: Hebrews 4:13 Hebrews 4:12-13 Luke 15 — The Prodigal Son David’s posture of repentance Take this scripture with you this week. Read it slowly. Sit with it honestly. Ask God what accountability looks like in this season of your life. #EatDontCompete #Hebrews413 #ChristianPodcast #DevotionalEpisode #AccountabilityToGod #Repentance #ChristianWomen #FaithJourney #BibleStudy #SpiritualGrowth
I Said Yes to God… But I’m Still Learning Surrender
2026/06/10
Episode 89 of Eat Don’t Compete is an honest reflection on what it means to say yes to God — not just once, but again and again through surrender, obedience, sacrifice, and love. There is a first yes we give God, but there are also many yeses that come after it. In this episode, I reflect on the difference between a one-time decision and a daily posture. I talk about how our yes grows, how surrender can feel difficult when trauma has shaped the way we protect ourselves, and how obedience is deeply connected to trust. Scripture Mentioned / Reflected On John 3:16 1 John 4:19 Romans 12:1 Matthew 16:24 Luke 1 Isaiah 6 Galatians 2:20 Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane This conversation also explores how love, discipline, sacrifice, and submission are all connected to our walk with God. Not in a legalistic way. Not as a checklist. But as part of a real relationship with Him. In this episode, I reflect on: why saying yes to God is not a one-time moment the difference between relationship and religious routine surrender, obedience, sacrifice, and love how trauma can make surrender feel difficult why obedience reveals our trust in God what it means to present ourselves as a living sacrifice how God’s discipline is connected to His love biblical examples of surrender and availability learning to pray through our pain points before they control us This episode is for the person who has said yes to God, but is realizing that the yes still has to be lived out daily. I Can’t Grow While Keeping Parts of Me Closed Off | Anchored In 1 Thessalonians 5:23
2026/06/01
Episode 88 of Eat Don’t Compete is a devotional reflection on 1 Thessalonians 5:23 and what it means for God to sanctify us completely — spirit, soul, and body. I’m learning that wholeness is not just about feeling better, thinking better, or doing better. It is about allowing God into every part of who we are. In this episode, I sit with the connection between peace, wholeness, mental health, spiritual health, self-awareness, surrender, and Scripture. I also reflect on how easy it can be to bring God the parts of us that feel polished while keeping the hidden, ashamed, overwhelmed, or uncomfortable places closed off. But 1 Thessalonians 5:23 reminds us that God is not interested in partial healing. He is the God of peace, and He desires to sanctify us completely. This episode is an invitation for you to slow down, sit with Scripture, and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal what God wants to correct, heal, and sanctify—not just through you, but in you. In this episode, I reflect on: 1 Thessalonians 5:23 in the Message, Christian Standard Bible, and Amplified translations what it means to be made whole in Christ why spirit, soul, and body matter how peace can reveal our posture toward God why we cannot keep hidden rooms closed off from Christ the connection between mental health and spiritual wholeness how to approach Scripture without fear or comparison If this episode encourages you to stay connected by subscribing to this channel, consider sharing it with someone who may be learning how to bring their whole self before God. I’m looking forward to you coming alongside me as I grow, because I truly believe we can grow together.

My Daughter Asked Me If We Were Rich… And It Convicted Me | James 2:5
2026/05/14
My daughter asked me a simple question: “Are we rich?” And honestly… it stopped me in my tracks. In this episode of Eat Don’t Compete, we talk about value systems, spiritual desperation, humility, and what Scripture actually says about being “rich in faith.” Because somewhere along the way, many of us learned to measure wealth through money, status, influence, appearance, or achievement… but James 2:5 challenges us to rethink what true riches really are. This conversation explores: Rich in faith vs rich in possessions Why spiritual arrogance is dangerous The connection between humility and dependence on God Why desperation for God matters What it means to be “poor in spirit” Biblical wealth and the Kingdom of God Anchored Scriptures: James 2:5 Matthew 5:3 Luke 6:20–23 Luke 12:23 Matthew 19:24 If this episode encouraged or challenged you, make sure you subscribe, share this with someone you love, and join the conversation in the comments. A Year Changed Everything… But Not the Way I Expected | Faith, Obedience & Growth
2026/05/05
It’s been one year since stepping fully into this new season of Eat Don’t Compete—and I didn’t expect the growth to look like this. In this episode, I’m reflecting on what the last year has truly produced—not just content, not just numbers, but obedience, stretching, humility, and a deeper understanding of what it means to walk with God. Because the truth is… I had to unlearn what I thought success was. I had to confront the tension between knowing God and actually obeying Him. And I had to realize that some fruit only comes when you stop striving and start surrendering. This episode is personal. It’s honest. And it’s an invitation for you to reflect on your own year—what God has done, what He’s revealed, and how He’s been shaping you. If a year made this kind of difference in my life… it can in yours too. 🔗 Mentioned in this episode: Picking Flowers and Pricking Thorns (Poetry Collection) The Blueprint of Becoming Series Hey God, I Have Questions Series From Discontentment to God’s Definition Series 💬 Join the conversation: What has God changed in you this past year? 📌 Subscribe & Stay Connected New episodes exploring faith, identity, obedience, and spiritual growth.

What If God Wants to Use What You’ve Been Ignoring? (Purpose & Calling)
2026/04/28
I didn’t just write a poetry book… I responded to a conviction. If you’ve been following the recent conversations on success, calling, and discontentment—this is what that process produced in me. In this episode, I walk you through the heart behind Picking Flowers and Pricking Thorns—where it came from, what God revealed to me, and why I could no longer ignore the gift He gave me. This isn’t just poetry. It’s a journey through tension—beauty and brokenness, growth and loss, surrender and purpose. From “before awareness” to “walking in purpose,” this book was written intentionally to reflect what it looks like to process life with God, not apart from Him. If you’ve ever wrestled with your calling, questioned your gifts, or felt the tension of becoming… this conversation is for you. And if you’ve been supporting from a distance—this is your invitation to step into community, not just support. 📖 Pick up your copy of Picking Flowers and Pricking Thorns Available now on Amazon (Hardcover) https://a.co/d/0fMQoK13
You Thought This Was Success… But God Never Asked for It | Biblical Success Explained
2026/04/16
You’ve been calling it success… but what if God never asked for it? This is the final installment of the Biblical Success series (Episodes 79–82)—and we’re not just defining success anymore… we’re confronting it. We started this series by exposing discontentment. We walked through what the world calls success. We anchored ourselves in what God actually says. And now… we’re ending with the question that reveals it all: “Who am I really doing this for?” This conversation comes from a real wrestle—one that forced me to examine my motives, my pace, and even how I viewed my own gifts. Through Scripture and personal reflection, we walk through what it actually means to live a life that is successful in God’s eyes—not the world’s. We’re anchoring in: What God defines as success (Joshua 1:7–8) Why discontentment reveals misplaced priorities (Luke 12:15) What it looks like to seek God first (Matthew 6:33) How to work from a place of obedience, not performance (Colossians 3:23) And we close this series with something personal—what it looked like for me to stop striving, surrender my gift, and simply obey… even when it wasn’t seen. This episode isn’t just a conclusion. It’s an invitation to realignment. So before you move on to the next thing, sit with this: Who am I doing this for?
God Already Defined Success… Why Are We Still Guessing? | Joshua 1:7–8 Devotional
2026/04/15
We’ve been asking what success really is… But what if the answer was never hidden? Today, we’re anchored in Joshua 1:7–8, walking through what God actually said about success—not what culture defines, not what we’ve made it, but what He established. Across multiple translations, the instruction is consistent: Be strong and courageous. Obey the Word. Meditate on it. Don’t stray from it. Success isn’t about achievement—it’s about alignment. This episode is an invitation for you to slow down, sit with Scripture, and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal what God wants to correct, heal, and sanctify—not just through you, but in you. If this resonates with you, don’t keep it to yourself—share it with someone who’s been trying to define success on their own.
Why Do I Still Feel Behind? | Rethinking Success as a Christian
2026/03/31
Have you ever felt like you’re behind in life… even while walking with God? In this part 2 of our series on Christian success, we sit with a realization that challenged me deeply: what if the discontent we feel isn’t because we’re behind… but because we’re measuring our lives by a definition of success God never gave us? We often inherit our understanding of success from culture—results, visibility, numbers, progress. But as believers, we are called to something different. In this conversation, I don’t fully unpack the answer yet… but I begin to confront the question: What am I actually using to define success? We briefly look at Joshua 1:7–8—not to break it down, but to let it challenge us. If you’ve been feeling pressure, comparison, or like you’re not where you “should” be… this episode is for you. Next episode (Devotional episode: Ep. 82), we’ll slow down and sit with Scripture together to understand what God actually calls success. Come sit with me.
After Wrestling with Discontentment… I Had to Redefine Success | Luke 12:15
2026/03/24
There was a point where I had to stop and ask myself a real question… Why do I want what I want? This is the second installment in our series about success. When I got honest, I realized what looked like ambition on the outside… was rooted in something deeper on the inside. In this episode, we’re slowing down and sitting with Luke 12:15, where Jesus gives a warning that challenges how we define success, contentment, and what really matters. “Watch out… be on guard against all greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” This isn’t just about money. This is about motives. This is about what’s driving you. We’re unpacking: What greed actually is (biblically, not culturally) Why discontentment reveals more than we think How success can’t be defined outside of God’s will What it means to truly be content in Christ If you’ve been striving, comparing, or quietly feeling like “it’s still not enough”… this conversation is for you. This episode is an invitation for you to slow down, sit with Scripture, and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal what God wants to correct, heal, and sanctify—not just through you, but in you. 🤎 More content on YouTube search “@jazminedewees”
