JB and Sandy Full Show Wednesday Nov 4: Mullets, Godzilla Minus Zero and Mom Still Hates Birds
2026/11/04
Ever had a haircut you wish you could take back? The whole Wednesday JB and Sandy Show is right here in one episode. We kick off with mullets, rat tails and the broccoli haircut, then Story We Love brings the PGA Tour back to Austin. Tricia has Care Don't Care with a GLP-1 friendly fast food menu, hypnosis that lets you watch a movie for the first time again, and a candy bowl thief at a sushi spot. We look at a $95 platinum pass for the Trail of Lights, Tricia's love of monster movies and Godzilla Minus Zero, and the full backstory on why Sandy's mom hates birds and why his dad hated bagpipes. Plus the Pumpkin Stomp returns, things we did as kids that would get parents arrested today, Longhorns playoff hopes and Tricia's Vegas blackjack marathon, the cash only debate, and things we learned. Subscribe, leave us a review, and share the show with a friend who needs a laugh.
Things We Learned: The Longhorns Are Still in the Mix and Why Mom Hates Birds
2026/11/04
What did we learn on The JB and Sandy Show this Wednesday? We wrap up the morning the way we always do, with a few highlights you may have missed. Tricia breaks down the first look at the college football playoff picture and why the Longhorns are still in the mix, even with two losses to unranked teams. Sandy feels like landing at number seven was a gift, but after the Ohio State game last year and the toughest strength of schedule out there, maybe Texas earned a little credit. Then we circle back to Sandy's mom, who we lovingly call Apple, and the real reason she hates birds. A friend's birds got loose, dive bombed her, and the worst part was what they did to her hairdo. Sandy has a plan to leave a parakeet behind before he heads back to Texas, and Tricia takes it one step further. If this one made you laugh, subscribe, leave us a review, and share it with a friend who still holds a grudge.
Cash Only? Come On Man
2026/11/04
Who carries cash anymore? JB ran into a burger place that was cash only, and it kicked off a great conversation about how we pay for things now. Sandy keeps a hundred dollar bill tucked away for emergencies, but most of us just tap the phone and go. The crew talks about how strange it feels to be caught without cash, and whether cash only spots are charming or just annoying. Then Sandy takes everybody back to the Crown and Anchor in the late 80s, where a friend tried to pay with a credit card and the bartender wasn't having it. The friend kept flicking that card on the bar, and the line of the night still cracks Sandy up: "Cash only? Come on man, it's the 80s." It's a funny, relatable bit about money, old bars, and how much has changed. Subscribe, leave a review, and send this to the friend who never has cash.
Longhorns Playoff Hopes and Tricia's Vegas Blackjack Marathon
2026/11/04
The Longhorns are in the playoff conversation, and JB and Sandy break down what Texas needs to do this weekend to stay in the hunt. Then the conversation takes a hard turn to Las Vegas. Tricia has a funny story about the time she sat at a five dollar blackjack table for twelve to fifteen hours straight. She lost all track of time, and when someone finally told her what day it was, her reaction says it all: "Oh my gosh, it is tomorrow." A table full of girls playing blackjack drew a crowd, the crew debates whether you can even do Vegas sober, and Sandy reveals he once lived at Caesars for almost a month. Not, as he admits, one of his proudest moments. Football, gambling, casino time warps and confessions from Sin City make this one a winner. Subscribe, leave a review, and share this with your Vegas travel buddy.
Things We Did as Kids That Would Get Parents Arrested Today
2026/11/04
Remember when your parents just sent you outside and said be home when the streetlights come on? JB, Sandy and Tricia take a trip back to the free-range childhood days and count up all the things that would get parents arrested today. Kids walked to the 7-Eleven by themselves, built a plywood fort with real nails and zero supervision, and nobody thought twice. Tricia tops everybody by riding a horse to the Creedmoor store as a kid. The crew talks about Bill Maher's point that kids were actually safest outside, trick-or-treating out of the back of a pickup truck, the old daycare playground equipment that was basically made of hot metal, and a game of Red Rover played right next to a brick wall. It's a hilarious, nostalgic look at how we grew up, how we survived, and how different it all looks now. Subscribe, leave a review, and send this to the friend who grew up running wild with you.
Why Sandy's Mom Hates Birds, and Why Dad Hated Bagpipes
2026/11/04
After yesterday's story about Sandy's mom and the hospice house aviary, the texts and DMs poured in. Everybody wanted to know one thing: why does Sandy's mom hate birds so much? Sandy finally gets the backstory from his mom, and it is a good one. Then he shares a few more family details as the family plans his dad's service. Dad had strong opinions too, and one of them was a firm no on bagpipes. Friends are traveling in for the service on Monday, and the family has a simple request: throw a dash of green into whatever you're wearing, with green ties for the guys. Sandy also shares his dad's famous toast, the one where he'd tell people, "Tomorrow you'll become Irish." JB and Tricia help Sandy laugh through it all in a warm, funny, very human follow up about family, grief, and the little quirks that make our parents who they are. Subscribe, leave a review, and share this with someone who would love Sandy's mom.
Godzilla Minus Zero and Tricia's Love of Monster Movies
2026/11/04
Good news for monster movie fans: Godzilla Minus Zero is on the way, and nobody on the show is more excited than Tricia. Tricia has loved monster movies her whole life, and she makes the case for the big guy. Is Godzilla a good guy or a bad guy? Depends on the movie, and the crew walks through the whole family tree, from King Kong to Mothra and the rest of the giant monster lineup. JB and Sandy try to keep up with Tricia's deep knowledge of Godzilla lore. JB, meanwhile, finds Tricia's monster expertise a little too impressive and admits, "I'm very attracted to you right now." It's a fun, nerdy few minutes about kaiju, movie nights, and the surprising things you can learn about the people you think you know best. Subscribe, leave a review, and send this to the friend who has seen every Godzilla movie.
Story We Love: The Pumpkin Stomp Returns
2026/11/04
It's a Story We Love, and this one is pure Austin. JB and Sandy start with a quick stop in Beaumont before getting to the good stuff: the legendary Pumpkin Stomp is coming back. Austin artist Jim Franklin, the creative force behind so much of the Armadillo World Headquarters look, is reviving the old tradition at Little Darlin on Thursday. The crew dives into the history of the Armadillo, the music hall that helped put Austin on the map, and the wild, only-in-Austin spirit of an event where people gather to smash pumpkins after Halloween. Sandy, JB and Tricia talk about what made the Armadillo special, why these old traditions matter, and why it's great to see someone bring one back to life. If you love Austin history, live music lore, and stories about keeping the weird alive, this one is for you. Subscribe, leave a review, and send this to your favorite old-school Austinite.
Story We Love: A $95 Platinum Pass for the Trail of Lights
2026/11/04
Is it too early for Christmas? Tricia says the holiday feeling is already washing over her, and tickets for the 62nd annual Austin Trail of Lights at Zilker Park are on sale. Some nights are totally free, most are eight dollars, and then there is the platinum pass for 95 dollars. The crew breaks down what the VIP treatment gets you, from valet parking and early access to a golf cart shuttle, a lounge and a drink ticket. The crew wonders what message it sends to kids who see other families cruising by in a golf cart, and it gets compared to the six year old who bags a giant Hill Country buck and has already peaked. Tricia remembers the drive through days and the packed walking crowds with little Landry, and admits she might pay up after all. Then JB, the resident car guy, confesses his love for holiday car commercials and the big red bow. Subscribe and share with your holiday crew.
Care Don't Care: A GLP-1 Menu, Movie Hypnosis and a Candy Bowl Thief
2026/11/04
Do you care or don't care? Tricia brings three stories, and JB and Sandy have opinions on all of them. First up, McDonald's is testing a menu built for people on GLP-1 weight loss shots, with smaller portions and plenty of protein. The crew talks about why protein matters on the shot, and the conversation takes a slightly gross turn. Next, a Dutch theater is testing whether hypnosis can make you forget you have ever seen your favorite movie so you can watch it for the first time again. Sandy imagines seeing Rocky fresh, then asks whether the same trick could work on ex-wives. Nobody in the studio volunteers to be hypnotized. Finally, a woman wearing her sushi restaurant work shirt dumped an entire bowl of trick or treat candy into her bag on a porch camera, and her employer saw the video. The lesson: cameras are everywhere. Subscribe and tell us whether you care.
Story We Love: The PGA Tour Comes Back to Austin
2026/11/04
Pro golf is headed back to Austin, and the crew is excited. In this Story We Love, Tricia shares that the PGA Tour returns for the Austin Championship at the Fazio Canyons course at Omni Barton Creek, the first Austin tour stop since the Dell Match Play ended. Local favorite Jackson Koivun is in the field along with major champions like Webb Simpson, Lucas Glover and Matt Kuchar. JB and Sandy remember how big the Match Play was for a golf town like Austin. Tricia tells the story of walking a Houston tournament while eight months pregnant with Landry, only to find out their golf pro friend Rich had people quietly following her in case she went into labor. Then Sandy remembers the husband hunters at the Byron Nelson in Dallas and the sundress uniform of the early 2000s, and his wife on the other microphone does not let it slide. Subscribe and share with your golf buddies.
Mullets, Rat Tails and the Broccoli Haircut
2026/11/04
Whatever happened to the mullet, and who is wearing its replacement? Sandy kicks off the show with JB and Tricia, and Tricia's First Laugh is a mullet joke that only makes sense in this economy. That opens the door to a full trip down hairstyle memory lane. JB and Sandy admit their generation proudly founded the mullet, especially the mullet with a perm for the truly serious. Then they take on the rat tail and the strange decision process behind growing one little piece of hair long. JB confesses he tried a rat tail for a few months and got his ear pierced at the mall kiosk before a Cure concert. The crew gets up to speed on the broccoli haircut, the mushroom head look teenage boys love right now, and the crew decides Patrick Mahomes is to the broccoli cut what Billy Ray Cyrus was to the mullet. Subscribe, leave a review, and send this to the friend who still has photos of their mullet.
JB and Sandy Full Show Tuesday Nov 3: Amazon Boxes, Mom Hates Birds and Election Day Ran Out of Beer
2026/11/03
The whole Tuesday JB and Sandy Show from Omaha and Austin: Give the kid the ball, the NHL at the Expo Center, Sandy's mental block on iTunes passwords, Care Don't Care, carp in Lake Austin, who breaks down the Amazon boxes, Cousin Jim and the cornfield fire, the man who walked around the world for 28 years, why Sandy's mom hates birds, the polling place that ran out of beer, and things we learned.
Things We Learned: Micro-Doses of Compliments, the Amazon Box Rule and Mom Hates Birds
2026/11/03
The JB and Sandy Show wraps Tuesday with what we learned: why the show is the best part of Sandy's day right now, Sandy's careful micro-doses of compliments for Tricia, the new Amazon box rule nobody follows, and Mom's surprising hatred of birds.
Election Day, Voting Stickers, and the Night They Ran Out of Beer
2026/11/03
Do you brag about how early you voted? On Election Day, JB, Sandy, and Tricia are just happy the political ads and the text messages are about to stop. Tricia has not voted yet, which surprises JB, because she loves a to do list. She explains that she and Sandy got in the early voting line on day one, took one look at the wait, and left. The crew wonders when voting became bragging rights, remembers when politics and religion were things you did not talk about, and laughs at Sandy's plan to drive around the neighborhood and pick candidates by who has the nicest yard signs. Then JB and Sandy flash back to standing outside the Governor's Mansion in the pouring rain waiting for a historic moment that took weeks to settle, thanks to the Florida chads. The worst part? They ran out of beer. Subscribe, leave a review, and share this with your favorite voter.
