782. Oh, it's a lot more than just coffee with Bo Nelson (creator of Thou Mayest coffee roasters)
2026/10/10
Bo Nelson is a caring, concerning scientific, artful creative thinker. His company is called Thou Mayest. As Bo explain, "'Thou Mayest'" is seeing your life as a vast, glowing empty page, waiting to be written by you." Those words are the tagline and philosophy of Thou Mayest Coffee Roasters who are not only specialty coffee brands but a community movement. The phrase "Thou Mayest" translates to "the way is open". It frames life as a vast, glowing, empty page that you have the power and freedom to write yourself.     Welcome to the thinking of Bo Nelson who started the company in a garage in 2012. Thou Mayest operates as a community-driven brand connecting entrepreneurs, artists, activists, business owners, and coffee drinkers. They roast and source specialty-grade, small-batch coffee beans (including blends like Wild Child, Boldly Go, Alter Ego and 11 more).  In this podcast you will enter the mind of Bo Nelson whose ideas of bringing people together while opening up the freedom to be your authentic creative self. As Bo explains, "Coffee is just the portal." And as I wrote in the title, This podcast is a lot more than just about coffee.  For more information: thoumayest.com/

779."10 years… one promise… I was going to change my life in every way possible." - Nathan Elser -
2026/10/02
Nathan Elser's words: "It was 2016. I was in Cell Block 16, locked in an 8x10 concrete cell 23 hours a day. My cellmate was a young dude who looked like a drugged-out Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High — detoxing and fighting demons, physically and mentally. I'd stare into the polished piece of metal bolted to my cell wall, the closest thing to a mirror, and look at the shell of a person I'd become. And I made a promise: I was going to change my life in every way possible. "I'm sharing this because somewhere out there is a kid or someone out there who thinks their life is already decided. -       Maybe their parents don't give a sh*t about them. -       Maybe they're surrounded by the wrong people. -       Maybe they've made terrible decisions. -       Maybe they feel like they're too far gone. -       They're not. -       A bad hand doesn't mean you have to play the rest of your life with it. -       Your past can explain where you came from — it doesn't get to decide where you're going. -       Never give up on yourself. -       I didn't."   You are welcome to contact Nathan Elser on facebook.
778. Detachment doesn't mean you stop caring. It means you stop forcing, chasing, controlling, and expecting.
2026/09/26
For half a century, my comedy material gave me a voice, an identity, and a place to stand. But I discovered even something I deeply loved became a boundary. I began protecting what worked instead of risking what might work next.  So, I recently performed it for the last time. I am no longer required to sound like the comedian I was. It's time to surprise myself again. I retired my comedy material. I did not retire my gift for creating. I just cleared the stage for it.

776. Tio (Uncle) Pepe loves making people laugh. He's the uncle you never knew you had. He's the uncle you cannot wait to see. He's funny and a good man. He's Tio Pepe.
2026/09/12
Tio (Uncle) Pepe has spent most of his life making people laugh. Long before there was a stage, microphone, or even the name Tio Pepe, he was the middle child of Cuban refugees, born and raised in Kansas City. From an early age, he hated seeing people sad or upset… even people he didn't particularly like. Being the middle child also taught him something else very quickly: if he wanted attention, he was going to have to figure out how to create it himself.     His formative years were spent in Catholic schools where he developed the combination of discipline, rebellion, humor, and Catholic guilt that would eventually find its way onto the comedy stage. He became a high school wrestling state champion while simultaneously frustrating teachers who recognized his academic ability and wished he were considerably more interested in proving it.     Tio Pepe did go on to earn both bachelor's and master's degrees and eventually reached all but dissertation status in a PhD program in Communication Studies.     His path also included twenty-one years of military service in both active duty and the reserve component, including nearly seventeen months deployed to a combat zone. Outside the military, his professional life has been equally varied, with stops in business consulting, automobile sales, and the construction industry. He is also the proud father of a son who is now a college student.     Through all of those chapters, one thing remains consistent; He loves making people laugh. He's the uncle you never knew you wanted He's the uncle you cannot live without. He's Tio Pepe.
775. Is it love or attachment?
2026/09/08
Love gives freedom. Attachment demands reassurance. Love sees the other person as they truly are. Attachment sees what they provide. Love can grieve and still let go. Attachment clings because letting go feels like losing part of oneself. The question is, "Can I care for them without needing to possess, control, or change them?"

773. It Happened. So what? What are you going to do about it?
2026/08/29
The problem isn't the problem. The problem is that you are not doing anything about what you identify what the problem is. And anger and blame are not the solution. How do you know? The problem is still there. So what are you going to do about it? yjhtl.com
772. What you think is wrong with you or your greatest disappointments are YOUR gift to give to humanity.
2026/08/25
Perhaps the greatest disappointment is this: life rarely becomes what we imagined—but its deepest meaning often grows from what survived the disappointment.
771. "Humor allows you to cope with the most intense things that interrupt your life" That quote is from Eric Donoho and he proves it!
2026/08/19
"Humor allows the armor to come off and the message to be heard." That is a quote from Eric Donono. At 37, he'd been to war, survived multiple explosions, lost children and countless friends, and was on the verge of losing his marriage. Seated at his kitchen table, Eric began to squeeze the trigger, but it refused to move. Told with unwavering honesty, Eric's book, "Canyon of Hope" is a raw, unflinching story of survival, resilience, and redemption that's more than just a recounting of a veteran's experiences at war; it's a roadmap for overcoming adversity, discovering inner strength, embracing transformation, and reclaiming control over your destiny. Read this book! Canyon of Hope: From Darkness to Dawn Embracing the Light Within
770. The heart is 100,000 times stronger than the brain electrically and up to 5,000 times stronger magnetically.
2026/08/17
The brain can tell us what is reasonable. The heart can tell us what is right. And sometimes the wisest thing a person can do is let the heart overrule the calculation. Wisdom is knowing when to stop asking what something will cost you. Sometimes compassion looks irrational to the mind—but turns out to be the deepest form of wisdom.

2026/08/08
If the name Frank King is familiar, he is the comedian that gained international attention when he 'supposedly' snuck out of his hotel in Cambodia and got back to the Unites States during the beginning of COVID – better known as the 'Planned-demic." In 2020, the cruise ship he was working disembarked all of the passengers and entertainers in Cambodia because of Covid. After they were denied to debark in 5 other countries.  Frank shares what really happened, but that's only a small part of this great podcast. Frank is a wonderful speaker. He performs his "Suicide Prevention" talks all over the world helping people through suicide. He is also a great comedian and quite a character. You will thoroughly enjoy the very funny Frank King.
