How Can Arsenal Fix Their Attack?
2022/03/31
It’s Patrick van Straaten and Chris Hamill on the podcast this week, as Patrick gets to dedicate another show to Arsenal Football Club. This time though, it’s a look at their attack, as Mikel Arteta’s side face an uncertain summer. As it stands, they’ll have no natural strikers come August, so the first question is about whether or not Alexandre Lacazette has earned himself a new deal. Then there’s who they might bring in - Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo are the two names being majorly linked with the Gunners, but the likes of Tammy Abraham and Ivan Toney also get mentioned. And what about the future of Emile Smith Rowe - is his Arsenal future in doubt? Enjoy!

Where Will Football's Biggest Free Agents Go?
2022/03/24
► SUBSCRIBE to FOOTBALL DAILY PODCASTS: https://bit.ly/2W5ICxU ► SPOTIFY: https://spoti.fi/30bG0Q7 ► APPLE: https://apple.co/2KaVq0K This week on the podcast, Patrick van Straaten is joined by Joe Thomlinson and Henry Hill to discuss where some of football’s biggest free agents might land. No Kylian Mbappe talk, as he is inevitably off to Real Madrid, but might PSG find a replacement for free? Paulo Dybala is confirmed as leaving Juventus, so could move to France, although Manchester City have also been linked. Apparently Franck Kessie to Barcelona is all but confirmed, but where does he fit in that midfield - does Xavi need to sell someone? Then there’s new rumours that Juve are the front runners for Antonio Rudiger, whilst the likes of Andre Onana and Jesse Lingard could also find themselves without a club come July. They round off the pod with some Frank Lampard chat - it’s not got off to the best of starts, has it? Enjoy!

What's Next For Chelsea? ft. Nizaar Kinsella
2022/03/17
It is a special one this week, as Zac Djellab takes the reins for a discussion all things Chelsea alongside our very own Dougie Critchley and special guest Nizaar Kinsella. It’s mostly a discussion about what is next for the club after Roman Abramovich put the Blues up for sale - who’s in the race and how might they be run in the future? There’s the consortium led by a Swiss billionaire who has no experience in sport, Chelsea fan Nick Candy and his group of investors, as well as the Saudi Media Group, who have no connection with the same regime that bought Newcastle United last year, none whatsoever, absolutely nothing, honest! There’s also the possibility that the new owners haven’t even been mentioned yet, and regardless, how it could spell the end for the likes of Marina Granovskaia in West London. There’s no doubt about it - this is your ultimate Chelsea situation debrief. Enjoy!

Why A Premier League Giant Are Favourites For Relegation
2022/03/03
Patrick van Straaten is this week joined by Chris Hamill to take a look at the mess that is the Premier League relegation battle. At the time of recording, there were five teams who were nervously looking over their shoulder as well as the three currently occupying the drop zone, although Leicester City’s win over Burnley on Tuesday proves they were never in danger. The pair condemn Norwich City and Watford to the Championship for next campaign, but who will join them? Newcastle United are the only in-form side in the bottom half, so they should be safe, right? Brentford are sliding and sliding, whilst Leeds United can’t stop anyone scoring against them - they’re on pace for 90 goals conceded this season. Burnley always seem to pull something out the bag, and Everton…well, Frank Lampard’s side couldn’t actually get relegated, could they? It’s an actual possibility. Enjoy!

Which Players Deserve An England Call-Up?
2022/02/24
After last week’s heated debate, it only made sense to bring Patrick van Straaten and Henry Hill back together for this week’s episode. Joined by the supposedly-Scottish Dougie Critchley, the trio cast their eye over the England squad ahead of the squad announcement next month. Or rather, they took a look on the edges at who Gareth Southgate could be looking to introduce into the Three Lions set up. Do Wolves’ Max Kilman and Brighton’s Adam Webster deserve a nod over the ever-improving Fikayo Tomori? In midfield, Henry backs James Ward-Prowse and Conor Gallagher over Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, despite his recent impressive form. And going forward, should Tammy Abraham be called up again, or does West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen finally get that phonemail after being one of the Premier League’s form players in recent weeks? Enjoy!

Who Is The Worst £100M Signing?
2022/02/17
It’s a spicy one this week as Patrick van Straaten is joined by Joe Thomlinson and Henry Hill to rate every single £100M transfer. There’s only eight of them (says Wikipedia), and the list is as follows: Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho, Joao Felix, Romelu Lukaku and Ousmane Dembele. Will the trio really rank the three of those that joined Barcelona as the three worst big money moves? Has Joao Felix been a success at Atletico Madrid? There’s a heated debate about the impact of Mbappe and Neymar both on and off the field for PSG - if they win the Champions League season, do they fly up this list? Oh, and if you’re wondering where Eden Hazard is, it was apparently an £89M transfer before bonuses - not that he’d be anywhere other than bottom of this definitive list. Enjoy!

Should Manchester United Drop Harry Maguire?
2022/02/10
► SUBSCRIBE to FOOTBALL DAILY PODCASTS: https://bit.ly/2W5ICxU ► SPOTIFY: https://spoti.fi/30bG0Q7 ► APPLE: https://apple.co/2KaVq0K On this week’s episode, Henry Hill is joined by his main men Dougie Critchley and Sam Obaseki to cast their eye over the last few days in football. They start with Manchester United’s draw with Burnley, and discuss whether or not Harry Maguire should be dropped for a short time, despite being club captain. Then it’s off to Newcastle, who have climbed out of the relegation zone. Henry compares their first window to that of Chelsea and Manchester City under their new ownerships - is it on a similar level? They round up the episode off with some West Ham chat (not that) after David Moyes once again proclaimed Declan Rice as a £100M. Quite simply, is he? How much would you pay for him? Enjoy!

How To Fix Leicester City
2022/02/04
The gang get back together for a classic episode of Extra Time, as Patrick van Straaten, Joe Thomlinson and Chris Hamill work out how to fix Leicester City. After analysing their season to date, the first question concerns the manager - should Brendan Rodgers stay in charge? Once that’s settled, they work their way from back to front, initially working out a replacement for Kasper Schmeichel - could Bernd Leno be available? Alessio Romagnoli and Lisandro Martinez are touted as potential centre back options as Jonny Evans remains in the physio’s room, but midfield is the big one. With Wilfred Ndidi injury-prone and Youri Tielemans on the way out, the trio set their sights on Ligue 1. Is Renato Sanches a good fit for the side despite his injuries, or how about Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara. Should Ademola Lookman’s loan be made permanent, or are there better options further afield, like Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze? This episode is just like the old days. Enjoy!

Who Can Replace Sadio Mane at Liverpool?
2022/01/27
Just the two on this week’s episode of the Extra Time podcast, as Patrick van Straaten and Dougie Critchley discuss what could be next for Liverpool - and more importantly, the future of Sadio Mane’s position. Not that Mane is close to being finished at Anfield by any means, but at some point Liverpool will have to look to the future and find a replacement. A lot of Bundesliga names are discussed, including Christopher Nkunku and Moussa Diary, as well Porto’s Luis Diaz. Premier League players Jarrod Bowen and Raphinha also come up in conversation, but with Harvey Elliot, does Jurgen Klopp already have the perfect person waiting in the wings? Enjoy!

Europe's Strangest Title Races
2022/01/20
► SUBSCRIBE to FOOTBALL DAILY PODCASTS: https://bit.ly/2W5ICxU ► SPOTIFY: https://spoti.fi/30bG0Q7 ► APPLE: https://apple.co/2KaVq0K This week on the podcast, Henry Hill is joined by his Continental Club buddies Dougie Critchley and Michael McCubbin to cast their eye on some of the less-spoken about title races around Europe. After they kick off the episode with some Everton and Manchester United chat, they ask if Sevilla can mount a title challenge and how long it will be until Inter pull away in Italy. Then there’s the more bizarre ones, as newly-promoted Union St. Gilloise lead the way in Belgium, Ajax have conceded just four goals but are second in the Eredivisie, meanwhile none of Turkey’s big clubs are anywhere to be seen in that title race. Any more leagues we should be focusing on? Let us know in the comments section!

Who Will Win The Africa Cup of Nations?
2022/01/13
On this week’s podcast, Henry Hill is joined by Zac Djellab and Sam Obaseki and is all about this year’s Africa Cup of Nations. Despite Zac’s allegiance to Algeria and Sam’s to Nigeria, the trio have a considered chat about the big teams this time around, including hosts Cameroon, as well as Ghana and Ivory Coast. Henry thinks Mali might be a dark horse, whilst Chelsea insider Zac reveals what he knows about Hakim Ziyech and his absence from the Morocco team (spoiler: not much). After predicting a tournament winner, they then discuss their favourite kits at this year’s edition, giving shout-outs to Cape Verde, Mauritania and Sierra Leone. Enjoy!
