In this episode, we sit down with the Southern Alberta Walleye Trail to break down their 2026 tournament schedule and talk walleye fishing at a competitive level. From how their circuit is structured to what anglers can expect this season, we dive into the strategy, challenges, and passion that drive tournament fishing north of the border. If you’re serious about walleye or just want a look at how other circuits are doing it right—this one’s worth your time.

Spring fishing brings out one of the most heated debates in angling—what line actually gives you the edge. In this episode of All Eyes on Fishing, we break down the great line debate: braid, fluorocarbon, or monofilament. When does each shine? When does it hurt you? And what are serious anglers really running when the bite gets tough? We dig into real-world experience, spring conditions, and the small details that can make the difference between a limit and a long day. If you’ve ever questioned what should be tied to your reel this time of year, this is the conversation.

In this special episode of All Eyes on Fishing, we deliver our own “State of Fishing” address. From tournament trends and fish care practices to evolving regulations, technology, and the pressures facing today’s fisheries, we break down where the sport stands right now—and where it’s heading. What’s improving? What needs attention? And what should serious anglers and tournament directors be thinking about this season? No politics. No fluff. Just an honest look at the condition of competitive fishing today.

Is it luck or is it skill, or is that critical intersection where preparedness meets luck?  In this episode we talk about some lucky times where we have caught big fish or had a strong finish in a tournament.  Some say it's luck and others love to believe it's all their skill but in the end maybe it's as simple as being prepared to be lucky.  For more of this episode subscribe to THE NEXT LEVEL and listen to an additional hour of All Eyes on Fishing.     https://aeof.supercast.tech/

It has become increasingly easier with the introduction of the eTournament Fishing app, to become a Tournament Director.  The Walleye tournament world must expand to survive and we need people to take the step and become tournament directors.  In this episode we discuss how easy it is to become your own director and host your own events with the help of eTournament Fishing.  Check out the www.coloradowalleyetrail.com and www.etournamentfishing.com for more information.

We watch Randy Blaukat from Intuitive Angling discuss the need to attach leaders to superlines or braid.  Randy gives his opinion and we give ours.  It was a lot of fun listening to a theory on the subject and debating Randy's key points.  This is one you don't want to miss.     If you like what you hear and want to hear more subscribe to the Next Level and hear all of our episodes.   https://aeof.supercast.com/v1
