Advertise on podcast: Three Geeky Dads

This week, we continue our Season of the Witch series with a look at the 1998 film, Practical Magic. This movie stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as two orphaned sisters, descended from a family of witches. They are raised by their two eccentric aunts in a small Massachusetts seaside town, and are forced to face closed-minded prejudice, an evil ex-lover, and a family curse which threatens to prevent them, and their own children, from finding love, peace and happiness. Tune in and find out what we thought.

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming to the podcast 2 of our absolute favorite people, friend of the show Kexy finally joins us to talk about Hammer Films' The Witches but, before we get into talking about the movie, our good friend Josh Dahlin is also here to tell us all about this year's upcoming Dark Arts Festival. Check out this episode, we had a blast recording it and we hope you enjoy listening to the all the fun!

Hey Daywalkers and Nightstalkers this week, we will be taking a look at this past summer's sci-fi/survival horror film, The End of Oak Street. In the film, Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor star as Denise and Greg Platt, the parents of two teenagers whose entire suburban neighborhood (following a mysterious cosmic event) has been mysteriously transported back in time to when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. And now, the bickering Platt family must band together to navigate their now unfamiliar and dangerous surroundings in order to find a way back to their own time. Tune in and find out what we all thought, won't you!?!

Do you obsess about horror movies like we do? Do you think about them night and day and want to watch them forever and ever and ever??? Well, if you do, have we got the podcast episode for you! Because this week, we're taking a look at this past summer's hit psychological horror movie, OBSESSION! Tune in and find out what we all thought.

This week, we will be losing ourselves in the BACKROOMS. We all watched it together, we have thoughts and now, we're gonna talk all about this summer's, creepy and eerie psychological horror where nothing is what it seems when a down on his luck funrniture salesman (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) discovers a series of seemingly endless labyrinthine liminal spaces accessed through a hidden door in the store's basement. Listen in and find out what we all thought!

This week, we're taking a look at DC's summer release, SUPERGIRL! This film may have underperformed, both critically and at the box-office but, we think this film deserved better. You can hear why we thought that way by listening in on the conversation.

So, it's been a minute since we last put out a new episode. We usually just take the month of July off but, as usual, life got in the way again and we were not able to all get back together until just this past week. Anyway, that was then, and now it's a brand new day and...speaking of, we will be talking Spider-Man: Brand New Day along with what we were geeking out about on our summer break so, listen in on the conversation, won't you? Oh, and sorry about the strange hum in the background...we promise it will be corrected before next week's episode!

As we geeky dads prepare for our summer break, we thought it would be a great opportunity to pit two titans of summer camp horror against each other. This week, we will be pitting Friday the 13th against Sleepaway Camp in a slasher mano -a- mano SLUG-fest! Both of these summer slasher flicks take place at a seemingly serene summer camp until a sinister somebody starts slashing and slaying their way through campers and councilors alike (depending on the film in question of course)! Tune in and find out who comes out on top! Oh, and we'll see you again sometime in August!!! Have a great summer!!!

This week on the podcast we take a look at Lee Cronin's THE MUMMY. When the young daughter of a journalist disappears into the Egyptian desert without a trace and is returned eight years later, the heart-broken family is shocked when what should be a joyful reunion, soon turns into a living nightmare as she starts to transform into something truly horrifying. Tune in and find out what we all thought!

This week we are taking a look at the Amazon Prime superhero/crime series, SPIDER NOIR. Nicholas Cage stars as Ben Reilly, a grizzled, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who, when a new threat arises, is forced to reconsider his decision of putting away his mask as the city's one and only superhero.

Hey listeners...did you know we also put out shows that don't follow our regular format? We certainly do and we call it 3GD's Escape Pod! We have a new on for you...Geek Dads Marc and Brien got together recently with Chris and Tristan Ham from the Get Your Shine-box podcast for some more geeky discussion, hilarity and hi-jinx! Tune in for "THE TRIBBLE ALLIANCE" where we talk all about what our geeky hopes and expectations were for the first half of this year.

This week we will be taking a look at the 2026 sci-fi adventure film PROJECT HAIL MARY. It was produced and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (the team behind Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs, The LEGO Movie and Sony's Miles Morales Spider-verse franchise) and based on the novel by Andy Weir (author of The Martian). In the film, science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or how he got there. As his memories slowly return, he discovers that he must figure out the puzzle behind a mysterious substance that's causing the sun to die out -- but he may not have to do it alone…for a lone alien is also on the same mission as his star is also dimming from the same mysterious substance and not the two of them have to team up to save both their worlds. Tune in and find out what we thought.

The month of May concludes with our final Derek pick...Goldeneye. The 1995 James Bond film where Pierce Brosnan steps into the role of 007 and brings the franchise into the 90's. Tune in and find out what we all thought!

The month of May continues with picks by our own Derek and this week he's chosen the 1991 neo-noir romantic thriller, DEAD AGAIN. Directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson with Andy Garcia, Derek Jacobi, Wayne Knight and Robin Williams, it tells the story of a woman who has lost her memory (Thompson), and a private eye (Brannagh) who is enlisted to track down her identity, but he soon finds that he might have a past life connection to her that endangers both of their lives.

This month, Derek picks the films we talk about and this week, he chose one of his faves...Drop Dead Gorgeous. This mockumentary from 1999 stars Kirsten Dunst, Kirsty Alley, Ellen Barkin, Allison Janey and Denise Richards and focuses on a small-town beauty pageant that turns deadly as it becomes clear that someone will go to any lengths to win. What did we think? Tune in and find out!
