The Gerald Moore Jr. Show | The Senate Passes the Protect College Sports Act (PCSA) and Why I'm Against It
2026/09/30
The Gerald Moore Jr. Show | The Senate Passes the Protect College Sports Act (PCSA) and Why I'm Against It Congress says it's protecting college sports. But who is it protecting, and who's left out of the room? The Senate has passed the Protect College Sports Act (PCSA), and the bill now heads to the House. In this episode, I break down what's in it and explain why, as a former Division I All-American and NFL free agent, I'm firmly against it. I've lived the college athlete experience: the grind, the sacrifice, and the reality that the people playing the game rarely get a real voice in the rules that govern it. We get into: What the PCSA does, including transfer limits, eligibility rules, NIL spending caps, and the antitrust protections critics say it gives the NCAAWhy athletes don't have a real seat at the tableWhat this could mean for players, families, and the next generation of student-athletesWhat I believe a fair system should look likeWhether you're an athlete, a parent, a coach, or a fan, this conversation matters. The rules being written today will shape college sports for decades. 📖 Get my book, BLUEPRINT: https://www.amazon.com/BLUEPRINT-Earned-Scholarship-All-American-Honors-ebook/dp/B0H8N8T6GC 📲 Follow along:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dopeallamericandad/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gerald-moore-jr-33937a17/ If this episode made you think, share it with an athlete or parent who needs to hear it, and subscribe to The Gerald Moore Jr. Show for more.
Protect College Sports? Protect Who? Why I'm Saying No to the PCSA
2026/09/19
The Senate is moving on the Protect College Sports Act, and Gerald Moore Jr., a former Division I All-American at Ohio University, says no. He breaks down the NCAA antitrust exemption and the loss of athlete leverage, and explains why he stands with athletes.org, the Congressional Black Caucus, and the NAACP. He also questions the bill's vague HBCU support and why Nick Saban and Deion Sanders are backing it. Details worth checking before you publish The Senate voted 77-22 to advance the bill on Thursday, but it still needs a final Senate vote and House passage. The House isn't expected back until after the midterms. I wrote it as "moving toward a final vote" so it stays accurate if you record early next week.I couldn't find athletes.org's current statement on the PCSA, so I took that alignment from you. A direct quote or link from them would strengthen the episode.I couldn't confirm the exact bill text on HBCUs. The NAACP has said any legislation must protect HBCUs, but if you want to say "vague" on air, cite the specific section or the missing language.
The Gerald Moore Jr. Show: Let's Talk Ohio Politics
2026/09/17
This episode dives into Ohio politics, why registering to vote matters, and what it really means to stay politically engaged — especially at the local and state level, where decisions hit closest to home. Gerald breaks down how the political process works, why so many people sit it out, and what's at stake when communities disengage. Whether you're a first-time voter or just looking to get more involved, this conversation is a call to show up, speak up, and take ownership of the issues shaping Ohio. No One Talks to the Father: Stillbirth, Grief, and the Crisis Killing Black Mothers and Babies in Columbus, Ohio
2026/08/27
On this episode of The Gerald Moore Jr. Show, I'm stepping into a space most men never enter publicly: the grief of a father who has lived through pregnancy and infant loss. I'm sharing my experience, my perspective, and my newly published book — Covering Her, Standing For Them: A Father's Guide Through Marriage, Fatherhood, and Grief — now available on Amazon. But this conversation is bigger than my story. Stillbirth. Infant mortality. Maternal mortality. These are not just statistics — they are names, they are families. In Franklin County, Ohio, Black mothers and Black babies are dying at rates that demand we stop and refuse to look away. We talk about mothers. But who is talking to the fathers? This episode is for him. 📌 IN THIS EPISODE:▶ My personal journey through stillbirth and infant loss▶ Stillbirth awareness from a father's perspective — the grief no one prepares men for▶ Infant & maternal mortality rates devastating Black communities in Franklin County▶ Why Black women are dying at disproportionate rates regardless of income or education▶ Miles Mission — the nonprofit our family co-founded from our own loss▶ A deep look at Covering Her, Standing For Them — what I wrote, why, and who it's for▶ To every father grieving in silence: you are not alone ⚠️ THE REALITY: Black infants in Ohio die at more than twice the rate of white infants. Franklin County consistently ranks among Ohio's most concerning counties for Black maternal and infant health outcomes. These are not accidents — they are the consequences of decades of healthcare inequity and a system that has not prioritized Black lives with the urgency this crisis demands. 📖 Covering Her, Standing For Them is written for the father still expected to lead while broken — for the husband who didn't know what to do with his own pain. If you've experienced stillbirth, infant loss, or pregnancy loss, this book was written for you.🔗 Get your copy on Amazon 🌿 Miles Mission is a Columbus-based nonprofit co-founded by our family supporting families navigating pregnancy and infant loss, led by Jennifer Bullock Moore, NBC4 Columbus anchor.🔗 Learn more about Miles Mission 💬 THIS EPISODE IS FOR:— Fathers who lost a child and never had space to grieve— Black families navigating maternal and infant health disparities— Healthcare professionals and advocates in Central Ohio— Anyone who loves someone who has experienced pregnancy or infant loss 🔔 Subscribe | 👍 Like & Share | 💬 Comment: What do you wish someone had told the fathers in your life about grief? 📱 Instagram: @geraldmoorejr | 💼 LinkedIn | ▶️ YouTube📧 [email protected] #StillbirthAwareness #InfantMortality #MaternalMortality #BlackMaternalHealth #FatherhoodAndGrief #StillbirthDad #PregnancyLoss #GriefAndFatherhood #GeraldMooreJr #TheGeraldMooreJrShow #CoveringHerStandingForThem #MilesMission #ColumbusOhio #FranklinCounty #OhioHealth #BlackHealthMatters #BlackFatherhood #MenAndGrief #InfantLoss #MaternalHealth #HealthEquity #BlackFamilies #GriefSupport #Fatherhood #MarriageAndGrief #AmazonBooks #NewBook #PodcastEpisode #ColumbusOhioPodcast #MentalHealthForMen

Columbus is growing by leaps and bounds. So why is it 700 years behind in racial equality?
2025/11/29
By Danae KingThe Columbus Dispatch When it comes to racial parity, Columbus lags behind other cities — by hundreds of years. A study shows that it will take Black Columbus residents 700 years to get opportunities to improve their wealth and quality of life equal to their white neighbors. On average, it will take Black Americans 300 years to catch up, said Duwain Pinder, a partner at the Columbus office of consulting firm McKinsey & Company, which did the research released earlier this year. So why the 400-year difference for Columbus? Pinder said centuries of discrimination have caused huge differences in how much residents of each race earn annually in Columbus, whether or not they own a home, what level of education they receive and what opportunities they can access. To arrive at the gap between races in different American cities, the study analyzed how all residents fared when it comes to standards of living, financial stability, quality education, stable homes, and job and skills development opportunities. “Our gaps are larger than other places,” Pinder said, and they’re widening as the pace of progress for Black Columbus residents remains slow. “Columbus is growing economically; it’s thriving, but that growth is not being equally distributed.” Columbus also wasn’t having “real conversations” about race and equity when other cities were, said Stephanie Hightower, president and CEO of the Columbus Urban League, who said she wasn’t shocked by how long it will take for Black Columbus residents to catch up. Those conversations didn’t really start locally until after the murder of George Floyd Jr. in May 2020 by since-convicted Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin and three other officers that sparked social justice protests against police brutality and calls for racial equality, she said.

Episode 008 The pandemic and it's impact on NCAA college sports
2020/08/12
In this episode I discuss my position on the current state of college athletics (NCAA) during the pandemic. As conferences begin to report whether or not there will be fall sports season the talk of protecting players is the main topic. In this episode I speak from my personal experience as a former D1 scholar athlete and All American at Ohio University. When covid started to shut down everything I knew that college sports would be a huge topic of discussion because America is all about entertainment and we've been missing out on sports. The main thing about America though is our athletes and entertainers communities are the ones being bit the hardest by this virus yet nobody respects the voices, stories, and truths of the black community. Many people aren't speaking on the economics of sports and entertainment and how these institution's and corporations are robbing black community of billions year after year through college sports. The NCAA made overa billion dollars last year but doesn't play its workershence why they call them amateurs. A scholarship is not adequate payment when an org is bringing in a billion dollars. Some of the big teams like Ohio State, Texas, and bama are billion dollar programs by themselves. I believe it's all a scam at this point and it time for us to take a stand against the NCAA establishment.
