Be Proactive
2026/10/30
Artificial Intelligence can be a positive or negative force. An Afghanistan-based magazine for ISIS members called Voice of Khorasan has published pages of tips for responsible ways to use AI Chatbots. The magazine contends that readers need to learn about AI before it learns too much about you. It states that Jihadists should avoid “sharing sensitive information” with bots because of security concerns. Regardless of who put the information out, it is good advice to be careful about what you share and pray about how bots could be used in a positive way and avoid using them in a negative way. Be proactive in helping something positive to happen.
Little Timmy
2026/10/29
Little Timmy has just become famous. It took a while, but Touren Pope was fossil hunting with his family in southwest Wyoming. They came upon a fossilized turtle shell. Because they were on Bureau of Land Management land, they didn’t touch it but notified the authorities. Experts came in and quickly confirmed that it was a complete specimen of a softshell turtle roughly thousands of years old. Pope wants to be a paleontologist, so he joined the excavation team. He had the honor of naming “Little Timmy.” At his age of course he is still not alive, but his shell exists. When you are gone from this world, what will you leave behind and how important will it be? Time is not wasted when it is spent improving your legacy.
Seeing Clearly
2026/10/28
Margerite Wargola lives in Iceland. She went to the doctor for an eye exam. The nurse conducting the exam failed to ask her if she was wearing contact lens. She put some drops in her eyes that stained the lens with green, fluorescent dye. Margerite said everything went yellow. She tried washing the lens and that didn’t help. She didn’t have a spare pair of contacts, so she had to wear the fluorescent green contacts which gave her alien-looking eyes. She said it was interesting to see the reaction of people. Be sure that you ask God to help you see clearly and precisely what you need to see. Be sure you look through the contacts or the glasses that are clear and healthy and prescribed for you. That will help you see life clearly as God intended you to see.
Come and See
2026/10/27
When Jesus was born, the angel appeared to the Wise Men to come and to see the marvelous birth of the Son of God. It was a compelling invitation and they accepted it. They were willing to come to where Jesus was. Even though they encountered difficulties on the way, Herod tried to trick them, but they stayed true to following the star. They came and they saw Jesus and they gave significant gifts to Him. The angel didn’t say to come and argue about prophetic principles or theological doctrines. The angel said to come and see. Today, the angel is inviting you to come and see this person who has come to bring peace and joy to the world. Like the Wise Men, come and see.
The Best Tactic
2026/10/26
The Kansas City Chiefs are a very successful football team. They are the Kansas City Chiefs, but they reside in Missouri. They are relocating to the Kansas portion of the two-state city. A Missouri lawmaker has proposed to ban Missouri motorists from driving with Chiefs-themed license plates. He is accused of being vindictive, but he tried to explain that we have tried to give the Chiefs everything that they wanted and now they treat us this way. He has decided to take a different tactic. The best tactic to follow any disagreement is to pray about it and sit down with the people involved and try to work something out without having to let politicians make the decision. Whatever the decision, vindictive action will not solve any problems.
Think Twice
2026/10/23
Think twice before you say something that you are not sure is totally true. It could come back to bite you. Veteran NPR legal correspondent, Nina Totenberg, went on the air and reported that Supreme Court Justice, Samuel Alito, 76, announced his retirement. NPR quickly discovered that was not the truth and retracted the statement. Nina tried to make up for her rookie mistake by writing Alito and telling him that she was so, so sorry. Think twice before you act. Misinformation can be extremely dangerous and harmful. If you do make a mistake, try to correct it as quickly as possible and approach the person who might be most harmed and apologize. Keep a good grip on everything that you say.
Family
2026/10/22
About two years ago, Brian Walls was diagnosed with a rare liver disease. His health started to deteriorate and it became necessary to have a liver transplant. They couldn’t find a match, but then his granddaughter, Makaela Hayes, discovered that she was a perfect donor match. She gave her liver to her granddad. The successful surgery was performed two days before Christmas last year. Now Brian has a new lease on life due to a caring, giving family member. He said, “It was just an instant change in my life. God blessed me with a family that has looked after me.” I hope that you have family members who will look after and care for you, and that you become a family member who cares for and looks after other members of your family. By family, I mean more people than those who are just blood kin.
Common Sense
2026/10/21
Use common sense when you try to correct a mistake. At my age, I jokingly say if I drop something on the floor, I ask myself if it’s really worth trying to bend over and get it or not. I also think whether or not there is anything else I might try to get off the floor while I’m down there. That’s common sense. A campground camper in California was in the vault toilet and dropped his sunglasses. He tried to get the sunglasses out, but fell in and spent fifteen minutes submerged in the sewage. If he had used common sense, he would have never tried to retrieve those sunglasses. If you drop something inside an outdoor toilet, just consider it a loss and move on. If you drop something on the floor and you’ve got some age on you, you might or might not try to pick it up.
Relate to People
2026/10/20
Brenda Ogden is a retired British nurse. In 2020, she was in a car accident and had her leg amputated. Two months ago, she was walking on the beach when a wave knocked her down. Her waterproof, titanium $2,700 prosthetic was carried out into the water. She had lost her leg again. Then one day, she noticed on Facebook a picture of a beach walker who had posted a photo showing her prosthetic leg wedged between some rocks. She reclaimed the limb, repaired it, and started using it again. A lot of times people lose something that is important in life. Some people can help them recover what they have lost and return to a normal lifestyle. A lot of people are crippled today by the tides of life—relate to them in a way that they can experience healing and restoration.
Shellfish
2026/10/19
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has just finished a new regulatory definition of shellfish. The new definition omits the phrase, “having a shell.” The consequence is that non-fish seafood such as squid, octopus, and cuttlefish will now be considered shellfish, even though they don’t have the distinctive characteristics of a shell. It changes the whole concept of defining a shellfish. Culture today is trying to change the definition of what it means to be a Christian. Words like grace, faith, cross, repentance, etc., have been dropped. Re-definition often times changes the whole concept. Men can do that, but God never does. God always stands by His Word and what His Word teaches.
Common Sense
2026/10/16
Don’t you have to be careful getting into a car that has been locked up for several hours and sitting in the sun? You can burn your hands just on the steering wheel. Mercedes AMG which utilizes a metallic AMG on the driver’s seat, is now being sued because some customers claimed that the “AMG” is so hot that those letters are now scorched onto their skin. A dermatologist in the lawsuit said that the “AMG” inscribed has left first and second degree burns on the customers. Be careful when you get into your car regardless of what make it is. In fact, be careful of anything that you face because if it’s been sitting in the sun long enough, it can be extremely dangerous. Use common sense and trust God to help you make a good decision before getting burned.
Unexpected
2026/10/15
Be careful what you collect as a souvenir. It could be very dangerous. Steve Martin is a Texas man whose son found a 20-pound iron cylinder while fishing. He placed it on his desk for several years. A visitor with the military said that it could be a live bomb and carried it out to the base and confirmed that the artillery shell was live and he safely disposed of it. What Steve thought was just an antique bomb shell that looked neat turned out to be a potentially dangerous bomb. What things do you have in your life today that might look good and be interesting and be a good conversation piece—but could be a deconstructed bomb? Check it out carefully before you continue to display it in a prominent place. Don’t wait for somebody else to come in and see it and warn you about it.
Restoration
2026/10/14
During the summer of 2025, a monkey was abandoned by his mother and found by some people who carried him to the Ichikawa Zoo. They named him Punch. He was looking for some security, so they gave him a toy orangutan. Punch clutched it all day long. They just celebrated his one-year birthday, and he has become a hero in Japan. He received over 2,500 birthday cards from around the world and stories about how he had been an inspiration to many people. Tens of thousands of people have visited the zoo to see him. There are many abandoned people who need to be found by people who care and placed in a situation where they can be cared for and have someone to cling to. If some zookeepers can do that for Punch, what can you do for somebody who needs restoring?
Longest Composition
2026/10/13
A medieval church in Halberstadt, Germany is playing the longest composition known to man. It is designed to play for 639 years. The performance of composer John Cage’s ORGAN/ASLSP (As Slow as Possible). It actually began in 2001 and is now 4% complete. It is designed to end on September 4, 2640. Tickets are being sold today for $3,000. You can stay as long as you want, but you won’t hear the end of the concert. Where did the church come up with that idea? I hope churches today are not that slow in playing the composition of King Jesus about life abundant now and eternal life forever. Your only ticket to that is to receive and respond to the free gift of grace that God offers to you.
A God Day
2026/10/12
Every day that we wake up, it is a gift from God to be alive. We need to spend each day very wisely. Don’t waste any part of today. How we start the day determines how the day goes. Some people tell us to have a good day. My dad used to tell me that telling someone to have a good day means that there is little responsibility on our part. Instead of saying have a good day, say, “Make it a good day.” The Psalmist David said, “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Making it a good day involves action on our part. Let me go a step further. Instead of saying, make it a good day, say, make it a God day. It’s really God’s day. Let God direct you in everything that you do today.
