We’re off to 19th Century Northern England, where we encounter… more violence! This time, it’s Luddites trying to stop progress, rather than violence for entertainment. Well… until you remember that the Master is involved in this, and he probably does find it all rather entertaining. On top of that, enter the Rani, as we discuss The Mark of the Rani!   Join us as we discuss the ongoing shenanigans of the Ainley Master (how gay he’s become, how angry he makes Reilly, and his new way of upsetting Julie), the joys of the man with the blunderbuss (better known as Lord Ravensworth), how melatonin would have prevented any of this from happening, Peri getting groped by a tree, and how we have now head-cannoned the Doctor and the Rani kissing at Time Lord Prom. Finally, Reilly tries to up our listens by pumping up Invasion of the Dinosaurs   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). Earlier this year, two episodes of The Daleks’ Master Plan were returned to the BBC from a private collector. We were elated! Anthony took a morning off work to watch them. Anyway, in this bonus episode, we discuss the two recently recovered episode and re-evaluate the whole 12-part epic in the light of the new material. Join us as we discuss how much we miss William Hartnell’s Doctor, what an amazing director Douglas Camfield was, the use of yellowface, Steven’s nipple, how Kevin Stoney is one of the best villain actors to ever grace the show, and the gimp mask that Hartnell gets to wear  . We also reevaluate the character of Katarina (before she gets spaced. Whoops… spoilers!)    If you would like to watch along with us, you can find these episodes on BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB) and on YouTube in the US (Episode 1: https://youtu.be/1t6x_HPwc6k | Episode 3: https://youtu.be/mY-HK7UtmkM)   Finally, you can also follow us and interact with us on Facebook and Instagram. Live torture! Live executions! Televised experimentation! It’s reality TV gone mad in Vengeance on Varos! Is this one too gruesome, or is its violence and gore used to make a point in a time of Doctor Who that’s been accused of going over-the-top on the violence?   Join us as we repeatedly freak out Diana with impressions of Sil, the Catholic-style worship of video, how a society like that of Varos actually comes to exist and how it correlates to real world fascist regimes, what the punishment dome’s layout actually is, the proper way to democratically agree on ending the life of the state’s leader, and we wonder where the vengeance actually happens in this story. And, OF COURSE, Julie wants to talk about chairs!   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). We’re kicking off Season 22 with the fanwank fest that is Attack of the Cybermen, which, let’s be honest, is just a series of checkboxes on a rabid fanboy’s list. Oh, and that fanboy is Ian Levine. Maybe also with Eric Saward, and possibly also Saward’s ex-girlfriend? Sheesh, the authorship of this one is VERY confusing. ANYWAY…!   Join us as we discuss how this story does nothing but make us think of far better stories, cyber body positivity, the problems with our new Peri-l monkey (Anthony is SO sorry for that one), posh failed Cyber converts, how the Cryons are apparently trying to seduce absolute EVERYONE, and the dumb humor that Griffiths brings to the episode . Meanwhile, in the mail, one of our listeners threatens to send Anthony “back to Twink College” – OH MY!   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). Recorded over six months ago, we finally bring you our Season 21 Retrospective! It’s been a long road – we started Season 21 way back in January 2026, and finally put this out at the end of August 2026. Life events led to a four-month hiatus, and so here we are, finishing up this particular journey. And so we bring you the usual blend of awards, metrics, and questions from our friends on social media that has come to epitomise the end of a season for us! Join us as we recap the season, discussing such highs as the Tiny Master, Sixie’s magnificent table jump, Turlough finally coming good, as well as such lows as the beigest Doctor of them all, excessively creepy villains, and very questionable martial arts moves (yes, we keep coming back to Warriors on the Cheap for this season’s bad moments!). Meanwhile, Reilly and Anthony sing some Prokofiev, and the crew discusses whether the Fifth Doctor’s death scene was truly upstaged by Nicola Bryant’s cleavage…   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). It’s the start of a new era, as we talk about the Sixth Doctor’s rocky debut in The Twin Dilemma. With creepy twins, giant gastropods, and a throttled companion, fandom has consistently rated this story as one of the worst in the history of Doctor Who… but will the Watchers agree with that assessment? Join us as we discuss the creepy clown vibe of the Sixth Doctor, how terrible he is to Peri, his questionable sartorial tastes (and how he really isn’t in a position to criticize Peri), and the questionable decision to introduce him at the end of a season. We also discuss the arrogance creeping into the production of the show, the new Doctor’s apparent ACAB tendencies, how we meet the “chillest” Time Lord to date (and how he could have been utilised better), and the best way of dealing with a glut of gastropods. Meanwhile, Reilly discloses his intense dislike for men with curly hair (he’s says he’s working on it).   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). Despite the kicking and screaming (and maybe some crying), the Watchers have finally made it through the Peter Davison era. Once again, we are joined by our 5th Watcher, R. Alan Siler, who might regret getting our opinions for this Doctor era as he definitely has fonder memories of it than we have. Join us as we discuss how we might describe a Doctor’s era through colours, a surprisingly short discussion on the use of the Master (honestly, we thought Reilly would have had much more of a rant than what we got), Anthony’s slightly disturbing obsession with Captain Wrack (and Julie’s definitive dislike of her), and what type of secret talents Ibbotson might have hidden. And as usual, we take a look back at some of our stats before Alan gives us a new game in “Which character would…”   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). It’s time to say goodbye to the Fifth Doctor as Robert Holmes triumphantly returns to the show with The Caves of Androzani – a story that is so often lauded in fandom as one of the greatest Doctor Who stories OF ALL TIME! But will the Watchers agree?   Join us as we discuss the consequences of unbridled oligarchy, the brilliance of the cast of utterly awful characters, how much better the Fifth Doctor is with Robert Holmes’ dialogue, the tendency of disfigurement to turn TV & film characters into predators, and directors saying “screw you!” to Robert Holmes by casting a woman in a part written for a man (as is so often the way). As you might expect, Julie and Diana get the serious ICK from Sharaz Jek, while Reilly gets angry about Kamelion.   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). We’re joined by legendary friend-of-the-podcast R. Alan Siler as we let out a collective “WHY!?!?” at The War Games in Colour. Naturally, we look at both the colourisation itself, as well as the re-cut of the story from 10 episodes into a 90 minute TV movie – especially the highs and lows of the new material added. Join us as Julie reignites her love for Jamie, while we discuss such important matters as clips shows, the excessive blue-ness of Troughton’s shirt, bad colourisations of classic movies by TBS, why physical media continues to be King, Terrance Dicks’ original intents (and how some were ignored here), and how uncomfortable deep fake technology makes Reilly feel. Finally, Anthony goes on quite a fantastic rant about the sheer arrogance of Russell T. Davies.   If you would like to watch along with us, you can get these episodes on physical media from Amazon UK (https://amzn.to/3T5oqfz) and Amazon US (https://amzn.to/4bf6wNI).   Other media mentioned in this episode*: Dragonball Z – Seasons 1-9 (Amazon US: https://amzn.to/4wc0hlZ | Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/4anTRI7) Community – The Complete Series (Amazon US: https://amzn.to/3hPClB0 | Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/39hGzwz) Star Trek: The Original Series: The Complete Series (Amazon US: https://amzn.to/3aifha7 | Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/2YtSYvx) Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (Amazon US: https://amzn.to/3ptuM83 | Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/3BSULsQ) Harry Potter: Complete 8-Film Collection (Amazon US: https://amzn.to/3SdAHd5 | Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/3oFjhZh) Worzel Gummidge: The Combined Harvest Complete Collection (Amazon US: https://amzn.to/4cYEvIg | Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/3AT5oAa) An Adventure in Space and Time (Amazon US: https://amzn.to/3AXF6an | Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/3vtBjR6) Big Finish: Zagreus (BigFinish.com: https://bit.ly/3Oc0xxF) Doctor Who: Devious (YouTube: https://youtu.be/Y6KgHZgEvd8) Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo (Amazon US: https://amzn.to/4ajt7Zi | Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/3QMMZ0e)   Finally, you can also follow us and interact with us on Facebook and Instagram. Anthony brings an update with the reason for our ongoing hiatus and when you can (probably) expect more episodes of Watchers in the Fourth Dimension again.

In this penultimate episode of the Davison era, we continue to clear house of the Fifth Doctor’s TARDIS by finally saying goodbye to Turlough (and there was much rejoicing by Julie and Reilly). That’s right dear listeners, we are covering Planet of Fire!   Join us as Reilly gives us his unexpected opinions on the Master’s return for the umpteenth time, Julie and Diana get supremely frustrated with our returning lady director due to her gratuitous shots of Peri, Anthony gives us some insight on how this story impacted his formative years, and everyone expresses joy with the location filming. We also hope that all of our listeners start using P-Dave just so we can keep it alive for Anthony.   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). It’s time to once again say “hello!” to everyone’s favourite pepper pots – the Daleks – as they return to their creator Davros, in Resurrection of the Daleks. But do the creatures and their creator have the same agenda? We’re about to find out as we tackle this action-packed and violence-filled adventure!   Join us as we talk about high body counts (no, not that type!), the weakness of the Daleks as they come out of their war, the increasingly shouty nature of Davros (and his choking noises), the Doctor using a handgun, cats in Doctor Who, the British obsession over tea, and how a bunch of current world leaders might actually be destabilizing Dalek sleeper agents. Meanwhile, Julie really wants every British actor ever to have been in Z Cars.   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). Warm up your pan flutes and brace yourself for meteorites, listeners. We really hope none of you get sucked into the ground just to be used by our favorite giant pill bugs. That’s right, everyone. We’ve made it to Frontios.    Over the course of the episode, we notice too many references to previous and future Doctor Who stories (talking about you, Moffat), the Watchers note how heavy handed they are in their naming of characters (and none of us care), Reilly comments on who the Gravis reminds him of (and it’s likely not what you think), and Julie actually utters the phrase “I don’t hate Turlough, guys”. We also continue to ask the age-old question: “Reilly, is Davidson the Doctor yet?”   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). We’re off to rural England, where a giant stone head is driving a group of English Civil War LARPers to a new level of intensity, while Tegan gets ready to be sacrificed as the village’s May Queen. That’s right – we’re discussing Season 21’s two-parter, The Awakening!   Join us as we discuss the dangers of LARPing taken to an extreme, the first instance of a very-familiar looking crack in a wall (even though it’s not that one!), pagan sacrifices, whether Will Chandler is nothing more than a 17th Century Adric, and the problem with Andrew Varney (Tegan’s grandfather), and the show’s continued obsession with goo . Finally, Reilly confesses to having Master-related PTSD… we would ask “who hurt you!?” but the answer is clearly “Anthony Ainley!”   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). We kick off Season 21 with a story that has ranked as the 15th worst Doctor Who story of all time in TWO separate Doctor Who Magazine polls – Warriors of the Deep! We all collectively say “there should have been another way!” as we dissect this and try to figure out what went wrong and why.   Join us as we let out a collective sigh at what is easily one of the worst Season openers that we’ve had so far in our odyssey through the show. Naturally, we have to touch on the bad lighting, the extremely questionable decision to allow Ingrid Pitt to use karate against the Myrka, the “cold war make-up” look, fart jokes, and how any sort of nuance has been stripped away from the Silurians and the Sea Devils in this story. Somehow, we still find a few things to compliment this story on. God knows how.   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this entire season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB).
