416 - Why Every Podiatrist Needs to Embrace AI with Jonathan Small
2026/04/23
Artificial Intelligence is no longer something for the future; it's already influencing how patients search for answers and choose healthcare providers. In this episode, Tyson Franklin is joined by Jonathan Small to explore how podiatrists can begin using AI in practical ways within their clinics. From marketing and content creation to improving systems and patient communication, AI offers opportunities to save time and operate more efficiently. They also discuss the importance of early adoption, the role of Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), and why resisting change could leave podiatrists behind. If you've been unsure about AI, this conversation will help you understand where it fits and how to start using it today. Do you love the Podiatry Legends Podcast? 415 - The Worst Time to Get Business Coaching (It's Not What You Think)
2026/04/16
A common phrase I hear from podiatrists is: "Once I get busier, I'll look into business coaching." On the surface, it sounds logical, but in reality, it's one of the biggest mistakes you can make. In this solo episode, I unpack why waiting creates more problems than it solves. I discuss the "amplification effect," "the I'll wait till later trap", how inefficiencies grow under pressure, and why being busy often leads to stress rather than success. I also share two bonus insights (Easter Eggs) around pricing: why your fees don't need to be fixed and how your mindset around pricing could be costing you more than you realise. Two Bonus Insights (Easter Eggs) 1. Your Fees Don't Have to Be Fixed You don't need to wait 6–12 months to adjust your prices. If you're delivering value, you can be more fluid with your fees. Different patients, different needs… different pricing can make sense. 2. Your Pricing Mindset Matters If raising your fees feels uncomfortable, ask yourself why. Pricing shouldn't be based purely on competitors. It should reflect: Your costs Your future expenses Your clinic experience The value you provide Otherwise, you risk undercharging while others profit more with less overhead. 414 - The 7 Ingredients of Success with Jason Cunningham
2026/04/10
In this episode of the Podiatry Legends Podcast, I chat with Jason Cunningham, business advisor, author, and media commentator, about what it really takes to build a successful business. We explore why many podiatrists get stuck working in their business instead of on it, and how shifting your focus to strategy, systems, and structure can completely change your results. If you want to build a podiatry business that gives you more freedom, better patients, and long-term growth, this is an episode you don't want to miss. Key Takeaways Build your business as if you plan to sell it Most podiatrists are stuck being technicians, not owners Strategy is useless if it's not shared Your mission should be simple and clear Culture matters more in tough times Systems create freedom Patients notice friction in your business Collaboration beats competition long-term You need to think like an owner, not just a clinician A great business gives you choice If you've been enjoying the Podiatry Legends Podcast, consider leaving a rating and review. 413 - The Importance of Professional Connections in Podiatry with Anne Melville
2026/04/02
In this episode, Anne Melville shares how she built a successful private practice in the small Scottish town of Gourock and implemented a membership model that now supports both her business and her lifestyle. The result has been increased stability, stronger patient relationships, and the ability to create a genuine sense of community. We explore the importance of professional connections, why you need to overcome self-doubt, and why podiatrists who stay engaged with their peers are far more likely to thrive in the long term. Key Takeaways from this Episode Connection is the key to long-term success in podiatry Membership models create stability and stronger patient relationships Small towns can support highly successful practices Community-building increases patient loyalty Collaboration beats competition Mature-age learning builds resilience and discipline Family support can be a powerful driver of success Patients value how you make them feel, not just what you do Imposter syndrome is common, but often inaccurate Connected podiatrists are far less likely to leave the profession If you've been enjoying the Podiatry Legends Podcast, consider leaving a rating and review. 412 - The Truth About Success in Podiatry: Planning, Priorities and Paying the Price
2026/03/24
In this episode, Tyson Franklin is joined by Melbourne Podiatrists, Richard Chasen, for a deep and thought-provoking discussion about business, life choices, and what success really looks like in podiatry. They explore the idea that while you can have anything you want, you can't have everything, and how this impacts decisions around hiring, income, lifestyle, and long-term career direction. The conversation also challenges common beliefs about money, patient care, and what it truly takes to build a sustainable practice. This episode is ideal for podiatrists who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about their next move and are looking for clarity and practical insights to move forward. 411 - The Savannah Bananas Fans First Experience with Jesse Cole
2026/03/19
This episode is a special one. It's a conversation from my previous podcast, It's No Secret with Dr T, recorded back in 2020—long before the Savannah Bananas became the global sensation they are today. Back then, Jesse Cole was already doing things differently, selling out games and rethinking what a sporting experience could be. But what makes this episode so valuable isn't baseball… It's business. Jesse shares how shifting focus from product to experience completely transformed his team. The same principles apply directly to podiatry clinics and small businesses. How you make people feel matters more than what you do. If you want to stand out, build loyalty, and create a business people talk about, this episode will get you thinking differently about everything you do. 10 Key Takeaways You're not in the business you think you're in. Experience always beats product. Stop focusing on money and focus on moments. Remove friction wherever possible. Make your patients feel something. Small touches create a big impact. Stand out by doing things differently. Build fans, not just customers. Community drives long-term growth. If people talk about you, your marketing is done for you. 410 - Ultrasound Guided Nerve Hydrodissection and Regenerative Medicine with James Ferrie
2026/03/13
In this episode, Tyson Franklin welcomes back Melbourne podiatrist James Ferrie, the owner of My Sports Podiatrist, to explore regenerative medicine and ultrasound-guided treatment techniques. James shares insights into prolotherapy, PRP and nerve hydrodissection, explaining how these approaches stimulate healing in degenerative tissues and relieve nerve-related pain. The conversation also covers clinical growth, continuous learning and why podiatrists should never feel trapped in the type of practice they've created. The registration link for the workshop is https://forms.gle/tei4CePQo3PYDgFGA   You can also contact James via email at [email protected]  10 Key Takeaways • Regenerative medicine focuses on stimulating tissue healing rather than only managing pain. • Prolotherapy and PRP aim to restart the body's natural repair processes. • Ultrasound allows clinicians to assess and treat structures with far greater precision. • Chronic foot and ankle conditions often involve degenerative changes rather than inflammation. • Nerve hydrodissection can relieve neuropathic pain by releasing nerve compression. • Learning ultrasound requires practice and patience, but adds enormous clinical value. • Some of the best learning opportunities come from outside podiatry conferences. • Developing a clinical niche can transform both your practice and your professional satisfaction. • If you feel stuck clinically, it may be time to pivot your practice direction. • Continuous learning keeps clinical practice interesting and rewarding. 409 - Psychologist Dr Dave Weiman Discusses Purpose Values and Best Self
2026/03/03
This week, I'm digging deep into the archives and bringing back one of the most powerful conversations I've had on the podcast. Episode 64 originally aired in 2020, and it went gangbusters. But many of you who've discovered the show more recently may never have heard it. My guest is Dr Dave Weiman, psychologist and leadership consultant from Pennsylvania. Dave has worked with business owners across multiple industries, including podiatry, and in this episode, we explore something far more important than marketing tactics or business growth strategies. We dive into why motivation alone isn't enough. Why "follow your passion" advice can sometimes derail people. And how drifting away from your purpose, values, and best self can quietly turn a fulfilling career into a routine grind. We also discuss something every podiatrist has likely experienced: the plateau. That stage where podiatry feels repetitive. Where the spark dims. Where you start questioning whether you're in the right profession. Dave offers practical ways to reconnect with what first lit you up. If you've ever felt stuck, overworked, disconnected, or simply in need of a reset, this episode will help you zoom out and recalibrate. 408 - Life Moves Pretty Fast with Dr Jae Grymes
2026/02/24
In this episode of the Podiatry Legends Podcast, I'm joined by Dr Jae Grymes from Delaware, USA, a dual board-certified dental anaesthesiologist and paediatric dentist. While her clinical world is dentistry, you'll quickly realise how similar our professions are. We dive into the realities of healthcare today, debt, corporate pressure, perfectionism, burnout, and the silent struggles many clinicians face but rarely talk about openly. Jae shares her personal journey through grief, professional dissatisfaction, and rebuilding her mindset from the ground up. We discuss why "everything is hard until it's easy," how skills compound over time, and why you should never apologise for your fees when you've earned your expertise. But we also talk about the privilege of being in healthcare and the importance of balance. One of the big themes in this episode is comparison. Comparing your clinic, your income, your house, your car, and how dangerous that can be when you don't know what's happening behind closed doors. We finish with a powerful reminder from Ferris Bueller: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it". This episode isn't about marketing tactics or business systems. It's about perspective. If you're building a business and want it to support your life instead of consume it, maybe it's time for a different conversation.  I work exclusively with ambitious podiatrists who are serious about making a change in their businesses. https://www.tysonfranklin.com/ If you want to connect with Dr Jae Grymes: LINKEDIN - www.linkedin.com/in/jaegrymes

405 - Adding Another Comma to Your Revenue with Neil Ateem
2026/02/03
What if growing your podiatry business didn't mean longer hours, more stress, or chasing endless new patients? In this episode of the Podiatry Legends Podcast, Tyson E Franklin is joined by marketing strategist Neil Ateem, founder of www.Multiplier.Agency, to explore smarter ways health and wellness businesses can scale in 2026. Neil shares why clinics hit growth bottlenecks, how to scale without burnout, and why selling outcomes matters more than selling appointments. The conversation dives into packaging services, improving patient compliance, leveraging reputation and referrals, and using simple systems to reduce repetition while increasing value. This episode also explores how podiatrists can think beyond the treatment room through online education, digital programs, and scalable ideas, without losing clinical integrity. 403 - Life Decisions Made at the Beach Bar with Alan and Sharon Cawthorne
2026/01/23
Alan and Sharon Cawthorne from Podiatry & Gait Clinic in Middlesbrough, UK, didn't plan their biggest career decisions sitting up late at night, stressing about life. They happened on holidays, in a relaxed environment, often at a beach bar. In this episode, we talk about career change, pricing confidence, investing in technology, reducing burnout, and designing a clinic and lifestyle that feels sustainable long-term. This is a conversation about perspective. About stepping back to move forward. And about why sometimes the most valuable thinking happens when you're not trying to be productive at all. If you're feeling a little stuck in your career, unsure of what direction you should head next, this is the episode you need to listen to again and again.  Check out my YouTube channel, Tyson E Franklin, to watch the video of today's episode. 402 - Ten Tips to Get More Out of Conferences in 2026
2026/01/20
In this bonus episode, I share ten practical ways to get more out of conferences and professional events in 2026. With so many events coming up, this is the perfect time to stop treating conferences as something you squeeze in between clinic days and start using them as genuine growth opportunities. I cover everything from how to prepare properly before an event, why being fully present matters more than taking endless notes, and how relationships formed at conferences often deliver more long-term value than the presentations themselves. We also look at why leaving early, working during sessions, or arriving exhausted quietly sabotages the return on your investment. If you want conferences to actually improve your skills, your business, and your confidence, this episode will help you rethink how you attend, how you learn, and how you apply what you take away. Sometimes a small shift in approach makes a massive difference. Check out my YouTube channel, Tyson E Franklin, to watch the video of today's episode.
