What IF...
2026/04/22
🎙WHAT IF... 🚪 This season leans into the moments when life knocks quietly or loudly and asks a simple question: are you there to answer? It’s about presence. Awareness. And what happens when we stop missing the moments right in front of us. 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTION: Today, you’re stepping into the shoes of Jon Sheldon. Jon is a leadership, growth, and small unit coach who works with high-performers helping them lead with authenticity, stay aligned with what actually matters, and build sustainable systems for growth. His journey started as a Marine squad leader and carried into the world of Fortune 500 sales, where pressure, discipline, and resilience weren’t optional… they were required. Now, Jon brings that same clarity into his coaching grounded in stoic calm, radical honesty, and a belief that real growth starts when you stop avoiding the truth and start owning it. This conversation asks a simple but uncomfortable question:What if we actually showed up for our lives? 💡 EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: What success really looks like when you strip away the noise? The difference between “Now” and “Next” what does that mean? Why presence is harder and more important than ever? Why giving yourself grace for the past without letting it define your future? How stepping back can actually launch you forward? The cost of distraction… and what it’s quietly stealing from your life? 🔗 CONNECT WITH JON SHELDON: 🌐 Website: https://www.belleauwood.coach/ 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/belleauWood_Coaching 🎧 OTHER PEOPLE’S SHOES: 🩵 Instagram 👍 Facebook 🐦 X (Twitter) 📺 YouTube 👟 Website 📣 LEAVE US A REVIEW: If this episode made you pause… think… or maybe even put your phone down for a second—don’t keep that to yourself. 👉 Leave a review and let us know what hit home for you. Little Mermaid
2026/04/15
🎙 LITTLE MERMAID…PART OF THAT WORLD 🚪  There’s a knock at the door. Not loud. Not forced. Just steady. Patient. This season is about learning to recognize that sound… and having the courage to answer it. 📖 A KNOCK WORTH ANSWERING “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”  Revelation Sometimes the voice we’re searching for… has been right outside the door all along. For me, this verse is simple but powerful Jesus doesn’t force His way in. He knocks. He waits. He invites. Now here’s where this episode gets real… Lauren may not see that the same way. And that’s okay. This isn’t about agreeing on everything it’s about stepping into someone else’s shoes long enough to understand how they see the world. And maybe that’s part of the message too… not just hearing the knock but how we respond to the people on the other side of the door. And here’s the tension we wrestle with in this episode: "Out of 100 men, one will read the Bible, the other 99 will read the Christian." Dwight L. Moody What does your life say… before you ever say a word? 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTION: LAUREN PEARLINGI Lauren Pearlingi lives in that space where healing meets identity. Her work isn’t surface-level it goes deep into the parts of our story we’ve either buried, avoided, or misunderstood. As an Intuitive Human Design Business Guide, Trauma Healer, Theta Reiki Master, Meditation Coach, Author, Motivational Speaker, and Shamanic Practitioner, Lauren helps women untangle complex trauma and step back into who they were always meant to be. Her approach blends energy work with grounded, practical insight helping people move from feeling stuck in their past… to standing confidently in their purpose. Through her work with The Mermaid Light, Lauren invites people to see their lives differently not as something that happened to them, but something they can understand, hold, and ultimately transform. This conversation feels a lot like Ariel standing at the edge of two worlds… asking, “Where do I belong?” 💡 EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS Did we get Jesus’ message wrong? What do you think of intuitive people? What does it mean to be an observer of your story like placing it on a shelf? What is the emotional attachment to your story? What does it mean to bring your story back in… off the shelf? 🔗 CONNECT WITH LAUREN PEARLINGI TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@themermaidlight   🎧 LISTEN & FOLLOW OTHER PEOPLE’S SHOES 🩵 Instagram 👍 Facebook 🐦 X (Twitter) 📺 YouTube 👟 Website 📣 LEAVE US A REVIEW If this episode made you think… pause… or maybe even hear a knock you’ve been ignoring don’t keep that to yourself.Leave a review and let us know what part of the story stayed with you. 🚪 FINAL THOUGHT Some doors don’t need to be forced open. They just need to be answered.
Fix It
2026/04/08
🎙 FIX IT 🚪 Every knock carries a moment… a decision… a person… or a truth we didn’t see coming. This season is about answering the door especially when what’s on the other side feels uncomfortable, uncertain… or completely unfixable. 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTION: What do you do when something breaks… and you can’t just fix it? Not with a quick apology. Not with time alone. Not with pretending it didn’t happen. This week, I’m joined by Dr. Bruce Chalmer a psychologist who’s spent over 30 years helping couples navigate conflict, betrayal, and the moments when everything feels like it’s falling apart. Early in his career, someone asked him how he does couples therapy. His answer? “Be kind. Don’t panic.”And later… he added a third piece:“Have faith.” Seven words that sound simple… until life puts them to the test. Because when betrayal enters the room when trust is broken, when someone crosses a line you can’t unsee the instinct is to fix it. Fast. But what if fixing it isn’t the first step? What if the real work is understanding what actually happened… and what it means now? In his book Betrayal and Forgiveness: How to Navigate the Turmoil and Learn to Trust Again, Dr. Chalmer walks through the emotional aftermath of betrayal and what it takes to move forward with clarity instead of panic. And through his podcast Couples Therapy in Seven Words, he brings those same ideas into real, honest conversations about intimacy, conflict, and connection grounded in both experience and everyday life. Can trust be rebuilt?Should it be?And is forgiveness something you choose… or something you grow into? Sometimes the knock at the door isn’t asking to be fixed.Sometimes it’s asking to be faced. 💡 EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: 🧠 The three steps to forgiveness and how they play out in real relationships 🧩 The deeper meaning behind “Be kind, don’t panic, have faith” 💔 A real look at whether you can truly forgive deep betrayal ⚖️ When forgiveness is right… and when it might not be 🔍 How to learn to trust yourself again after being hurt 🔄 What moving forward actually looks like together or apart 🔗 CONNECT WITH DR.   🎙 SECRET ⚠️ LISTENER DISCRETION ADVISEDThis episode contains mature themes and honest conversations around sex and intimacy. Recommended for adult listeners. 🧩 WHO’S THERE? 🚪 Every knock carries a moment… a decision… a person… or even a conversation we weren’t ready to have. Some doors we open with curiosity.Others… we avoid altogether. This episode? It’s one of those doors. 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTION I was 11 years old when the song Let's Talk About Sex came out by Color Me Badd. And if you grew up in the late 80s or early 90s, you probably remember what “the talk” looked like back then… awkward health class lessons, uncomfortable silence, and a whole lot left unsaid. We learned just enough to be confused…but not enough to truly understand connection, intimacy, or even ourselves. Fast forward to today, and we’re still carrying some of those same questions… just in adult bodies. That’s where my guest, Xanet Pailet, comes in. Xanet is a nationally recognized sexuality educator, coach, and bestselling author of Living an Orgasmic Life. Her story is powerful. She spent over two decades in a sexless marriage… before experiencing a complete personal awakening that changed everything. Today, she helps people reconnect with their bodies, their desires, and something many of us have forgotten… that pleasure isn’t something to earn. It’s something we’re born with. 💡 EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS What it’s really like to live in a sexless marriage for 26 years How early beliefs about sex shape our adult relationships The difference between physical intimacy and emotional connection Disconnection and addiction Learning to feel again What do I really believe about sex? 🔗 CONNECT WITH XANET PAILET Website: https://www.passionateintimacyretreats.com/Quiz: https://www.passionateintimacyretreats.com/quiz/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/xanetpop/ 🎧 LISTEN & FOLLOW OTHER PEOPLE’S SHOES 🩵 Instagram 👍 Facebook 🐦 X (Twitter) 📺 YouTube 👟 Website 📣 LEAVE US A REVIEW If this episode made you think… challenged something you’ve always believed… or opened a door you didn’t even realize was closed— Don’t keep that to yourself. From awkward middle school memories to deeply personal adult experiences, this episode explores what happens when we finally face the topic of sex, intimacy, and connection head on. With honesty, vulnerability, and zero fluff, Xanet Pailet shares her journey from disconnection to awakening… and challenges us to rethink everything we thought we knew about pleasure, relationships, and ourselves. Because sometimes…the door we avoid the most… is the one that leads to healing.
Stutter
2026/03/25
🎙 STUTTER  🚪 🧩 WHO’S THERE? 🚪Every knock carries a moment… a decision… a voice we either trust or try to hide. This season is about answering the door… even when what’s on the other side scares you.  🚪 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTION:What if the voice you’ve been trying to hide… is the very thing meant to be heard? For Byron Athene, a stutter wasn’t just something he dealt with it became part of how he saw himself. It shaped his confidence, his choices, and the path he believed was available to him. So even though he was drawn to philosophy and psychology, he convinced himself that becoming a therapist wasn’t realistic. His voice, in his mind, disqualified him. So he stayed safe. For over two decades, Byron worked in office roles, keeping that deeper calling at a distance. But the knock never stopped. Over time, something began to shift. What if the limitation wasn’t his speech… but the belief attached to it?What if the story he told himself… wasn’t true? That question changed everything. Today, Byron is a counselling psychotherapist, certified mindset coach, clinical supervisor, and author helping others move past limiting beliefs and step into a greater sense of freedom, purpose, and fulfillment.  🚪 This conversation isn’t just about a stutter…It’s about finding your voice. 💡 EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: 🗣 Living with a stutter and how it shapes identity 😶 Avoiding conversations—and opportunities—because of fear 🛑 Why Byron didn’t pursue therapy earlier in life 🧠 Fixed mindset vs. growth mindset in real life 🔄 How one belief can redirect your entire life ✨ “We are perfect… unless we focus on our imperfections” 🎤 Letting go of what others think and reclaiming your voice 🔥 “You can hate them… but that won’t affect my enjoyment of them” 🌱 Helping others access freedom, fulfillment, and inner growth  🚪 🔗 CONNECT WITH BYRON ATHENE:Website: https://www.byronathene.com/  🚪 🎧 OTHER PEOPLE’S SHOES LINKS:🩵 Instagram👍 Facebook🐦 X (Twitter)📺 YouTube👟 Website  🚪 💭 FINAL THOUGHT: We spend so much of our lives focusing on what’s “wrong” with us…the hesitation, the flaw, the thing we wish we could fix. But what if that’s not the thing holding us back? What if it’s the meaning we’ve attached to it? So here’s the question… Are you letting your voice be heard…or are you still believing the story that it’s not enough?  🚪 📣 LEAVE US A REVIEW:If this episode made you think about your own voice… or challenged the story you’ve been telling yourself, don’t keep that to yourself.Leave a review and let us know how this conversation impacted you.
Goodbye
2026/03/18
🎙 GOODBYE   🧩 WHO’S THERE? 🚪 Every knock carries a moment… a decision… a person… or a goodbye we didn’t see coming. This season is about answering the door before it’s too late. 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTION: What is so good about goodbye? The word itself didn’t start the way we use it today. Back in the late 1500s, “goodbye” was actually a blessing short for “God be with you.” Over time, it softened, shifted, and lost its original weight… but maybe it wasn’t supposed to. Because when you really think about it… Goodbye isn’t just a word. It’s a moment. This week, I’m joined by Kelly Weaver, and her story brings that truth front and center. She has stood at the edge of life—on death’s doorstep and come back. After walking through ovarian cancer, widowhood, raising a daughter with autism as a single parent, and a life-altering illness, Kelly understands something most of us try to avoid: We don’t always get to choose when the last goodbye happens. Now, as an identity life coach, she helps high-achieving women over 50 rediscover who they are after retirement and major life transitions. But what she really offers is deeper than that clarity, perspective, and a reminder that life doesn’t end… it evolves. This conversation isn’t just about endings…It’s about being ready for them. 💡 EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: The true origin and deeper meaning behind the word “goodbye.” Why do we often take our final moments with people for granted What it means to experience restoration, peace, and clarity Kelly’s powerful story of survival, loss, and reinvention The uncomfortable but necessary question: Are you ready to say goodbye? Why saving money and preparing for retirement is more emotional than financial How to step into your next chapter with purpose and intention 🔗 CONNECT WITH KELLY WEAVER: Website: https://kellyweaverconsulting.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kelly_weaver_consulting 🎧 OTHER PEOPLE’S SHOES LINKS: 🩵 Instagram 👍 Facebook 🐦 X (Twitter) 📺 YouTube 👟 Website 📣 LEAVE US A REVIEW: If this episode made you pause… reflect… or think about the people in your life a little differently, don’t keep that to yourself.Leave a review and let us know how this conversation impacted you. 💭 FINAL THOUGHT: Inspired by The Breath You Take by George Strait… Life isn’t just about breathing in and out. It’s about the moments that take your breath away. So here’s the question… If today were the moment, would your goodbye say everything it needs to? 🚪
SMS

🎙  SMS 🚪 Who’s There? 🚪 This season explores the moments when life knocks on our door. Sometimes the knock is quiet. Sometimes it’s loud enough to shake everything we thought we knew. “Who’s There?” is about those moments that stop us in our tracks and force us to answer the door to truth, change, and responsibility. 👣 Guest Introduction: Dave Booth How many of us have sent a text while driving?Or remember the days before Bluetooth when we held our phones up to our ear while cruising down the road? If I’m being honest… I struggle with a phone addiction. It’s easy to joke about. Easy to brush off. But the question that sits heavy on my mind is this: Could one text message cost someone their life? That message you just have to send. That song you feel like you have to hear right now. That quick glance down at the screen. Today’s guest, Dave Booth, knows exactly how dangerous that moment can be. Dave was sitting in backed-up traffic when everything changed. A teenage driver, distracted behind the wheel, slammed into him at roughly 75 miles per hour while Dave was traveling about 35 mph. In a split second, life became a before-and-after story. This conversation isn’t just about texting and driving. It’s about responsibility, forgiveness, healing, and the question many people struggle with after tragedy: Can you forgive the person who almost took your life? 💡 Episode Highlights 📱 SMS: Short Message Service the everyday texting habit many of us don’t think twice about 🚗 The crash that changed Dave’s life in an instant ⚖️ Understanding the real dangers of distracted driving 🧠 What happens when our phone habits become an addiction 🎖️ How something as simple as a duty belt can help hold life together 🤝 Wrestling with forgiveness after someone nearly takes your life 🗣️ Turning personal trauma into education that can save others 🐱 And yes… how the song “Soft Kitty” can actually play a role in healing ⚖️ Oregon’s Hands-Free Driving Law (ORS 811.507) Oregon law strictly prohibits holding or using a mobile electronic device while driving — even while stopped in traffic or at a red light.   🎙 RISE UP 🧩  WHO’S THERE? This season of Other People’s Shoes asks a powerful question: 🚪 “Who’s knocking at your life’s door?” Sometimes it’s opportunity. Sometimes it’s pain. Sometimes it’s a moment we never asked for but can’t avoid. The people and experiences that knock on our door often change the course of our lives. This season explores those moments the ones that challenge us, shape us, and ultimately invite us to step into deeper empathy for others. Because sometimes the knock we hear… is the beginning of a completely new chapter. 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTION This week I’m joined by Tiffaney Childers author, speaker, and suicide loss survivor whose story carries both unimaginable grief and remarkable hope. Tiffaney is the forthcoming author of The Rise Back: Reclaiming Life after Suicide Loss, Pain and Silence, a memoir and guide for anyone navigating devastating loss. After losing both of her parents to suicide, enduring chronic pain from a failed surgery, and walking through years of silence and emotional survival, Tiffaney reached a moment where she stopped running from the pain and stepped straight into it. Instead of allowing grief to define her future, she began the slow, gritty climb toward healing and purpose. Today she serves as a LOSS Team advocate, walking alongside people in the earliest moments after suicide loss and reminding them that even in the rubble of heartbreak, something new can rise. Her message is simple but powerful: You don’t bounce back from devastation like this. You rise from what’s left and rebuild piece by piece. 💡 EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS • Why suicide loss survivors are seven times more likely to struggle with suicidal thoughts themselves• The silence that often surrounds suicide and why that silence can be dangerous• What it actually means to sit with someone in raw grief• Tiffaney’s personal story of loss, chronic pain, and emotional survival• The moment she stopped numbing the pain and began facing it directly• Why healing often looks less like “moving on” and more like rebuilding your life• The powerful belief that carried her forward: Everything in life is figure-out-able 🔥 THE RISE UP FRAMEWORK Tiffaney shares a practical guide for navigating grief, healing, and growth. Porch Light

🎙 PORCH LIGHT 🚪 🧩 WHO’S THERE? This season leans into the moments when life comes knocking. The unexpected interruptions. The quiet invitations. The doors we hesitate to open. Sometimes the question isn’t just who’s there… it’s whether we’re willing to leave the light on. 🚪 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTION: Do you keep your porch light on? For years, that simple phrase from Motel 6  “We’ll leave the light on for you” has carried a quiet kind of comfort. An open invitation. A signal that someone is welcome, even before they arrive. In this thoughtful conversation, Neil sits down with Dr. Kelly Meyer, an international transformational coach, speaker, and author with nearly three decades of experience helping people grow into who they’re meant to be. Alongside his wife April, Kelly co-created Project Find Your Fire, a movement rooted in helping people discover their passion, live with purpose, and ignite meaningful change through growth, relationships, and wellness. Together, they explore what it really means to leave the light on… not just on a porch, but in our lives. 🚪 💡 EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Who are you… really? 🎙 EPISODE TITLE: UNBOXING…  🧩 SEASON THEME: WHO’S THERE?This season explores the moments when life comes knocking, sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, and asks what we’re willing to open… and what we’d rather keep sealed. Who’s There? is about answering the door to truth, growth, and the unexpected. 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTIONWhat happens when success looks perfect on the outside… but the real work is happening beneath the surface? This week, we step into the story of Monica McKitterick, family nurse practitioner turned CEO, author, and bold entrepreneur. Monica didn’t just climb the healthcare ladder… she rebuilt it. From the ground up, she created Impact Family Wellness, a multi-million-dollar Direct Primary Care clinic in Texas, proving that grit and vision can rewrite the rules. After winning a nationally televised business competition and appearing on The Blox Season 18, Monica doubled down on her mission, launching The DPC Formula to help other providers build thriving, independent clinics. But this conversation goes deeper than business wins. We start with the simple act of unboxing everyday items… and quickly discover the harder things we all carry: unworthiness, self-doubt, loneliness, heartbreak, and the quiet battle for joy. Monica brings honesty, clarity, and just enough Duke-grad confidence to keep things interesting inside the Shoe Shack. Her story is about redefining success on your own terms… and learning which voices are actually worth listening to. 💡 EPISODE HIGHLIGHTSWhy chasing recognition can lead you off course Hard conversations around loneliness, pain, and heartbreak How Monica is helping reshape Direct Primary Care A mindset shift every high achiever needs to hear Why being a Duke grad still gets mentioned in the Shoe Shack 😄 Key Quote: “Someone’s opinion of you is none of your business.” 🔗 CONNECT WITH MONICA MCKITTERICKWebsite: https://dpcformula.com 🎧 LISTEN & FOLLOW OTHER PEOPLE’S SHOES🩵 Instagram 👍 Facebook 🐦 X (Twitter) 📺 YouTube 👟 Website 📣 LEAVE US A REVIEWIf this episode moved you, challenged you, or gave you something to think about don’t keep it to yourself! Hello...
2026/02/11
🎙Hello…🎙🧩 Season Theme: Who’s There? 🚪 This season is all about the knock. The moment you reach out. The question we all ask at some point: Is anyone really there on the other side? 👣 Guest Introduction: This week, I’m joined by Shane McKenna, the creator of LOQUI LISTENING a peer-to-peer listening app built around something that feels surprisingly rare these days: someone who will simply listen. The episode title Hello… was inspired (slightly embarrassing confession included) by the song Hello by Adele. There’s a line in that song that’s always stuck with me: “When I call, you never seem to be home.” That lyric feels like the heartbeat of this season. So many of us have called. Knocked. Reached out. And felt like no one answered. So the question becomes what do we do in those moments? And just as important… who’s there when we need someone right now? Shane believes no one should have to face those moments alone. 💡 Episode Highlights: Have we lost the art of actually listening and really talking? Why LOQUI LISTENING focuses on presence, not advice or fixing How peer-to-peer listening can meet people exactly where they are Why availability matters: someone there 24/7, no matter the emotion The surprising power of trust (and yes… even panda Dunk shoes 🐼👟) 🧠 What Is LOQUI LISTENING? LOQUI LISTENING connects people with real humans who are willing to listen no therapy labels, no counseling language, no pressure to “solve” anything. It’s about interaction, empathy, and being present in the moment whether you’re overwhelmed, joyful, anxious, or just need to say something out loud. Pricing discussed in the episode: $11 for 30 minutes $19 for 60 minutes (Note: one minute is deducted for each voice note or text message sent) Even the name LOQUI comes from Latin loqui, meaning to talk or to speak. In a world that’s constantly talking, Shane is asking a better question: Who’s actually listening? 🔗 Connect with LOQUI LISTENING: 📸 Instagram 🍎 Apple App Store 🤖 Google Play Store 🌐 Website 🎧 Listen & Follow Other People’s Shoes: 🩵 Instagram 👍 Facebook 🐦 X (Twitter) 📺 YouTube 👟 Website 📣 Leave Us a Review: If this episode made you think about the last time you knocked… the last time you called… or the last time someone truly listened take a moment to leave a review. G_O_D
2026/02/04
🎙 SEASON 22: WHO’S THERE — EPISODE: G.O.D.Gift of Desperation 🚪 SEASON THEME: WHO’S THEREThis season keeps asking one question: Who’s there when life knocks, and how do we respond? Sometimes the knock comes as an opportunity. Sometimes as a disruption. Sometimes, as a quiet voice we’d rather ignore. This episode explores what happens when the knock doesn’t come from the outside but from God Himself. 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTIONMy guest this week is Stephanie Rivard. Stephanie spent 11 years serving as the Executive Director of a nonprofit. By every logical measure, she was exactly where she was supposed to be: stable, effective, and impactful. And then, last year, defying logic and comfort, she heard something unexpected. Through prayer, Stephanie sensed God telling her to leave. No roadmap. No backup plan. No safety net. Just obedience. 🙏 LEARNING TO LISTENThis episode centers on prayer not as a formula, but as a relationship. Stephanie shares how, over time, she has developed a deeper sensitivity to what she believes is God’s voice guiding and directing her steps. She’s honest and grounded about it. She doesn’t claim perfection. She doesn’t hear clearly every single time. But she does say this: the more she listens, the more familiar that voice becomes. And when the call came to walk away from a role she loved, she listened. 🔄 WHEN THE GUEST TURNS THE MICStephanie does something rare in this conversation, something most guests haven’t yet done. She asks me a question. Not a casual one. Not an easy one. A question that stops me cold and forces real reflection in the moment. It’s a reminder that when conversations are rooted in faith and honesty, they don’t always move in one direction. Sometimes the knock comes mid-conversation, and you have to decide how you’ll answer. 🧭 FAITH WITHOUT A PLANStephanie’s story invites us to sit with an uncomfortable truth: Sometimes following God means moving without clarity. Without confirmation. Without control. This isn’t a story about recklessness; it’s about dependence. Letting go of certainty. Trusting provision. Moving forward, when the next step hasn’t been revealed yet. 🎁 WHY “G.O.D.” THE GIFT OF DESPERATIONWe call this episode G.O.D., short for Gift of Desperation. Because desperation has a way of stripping away self-reliance and exposing what we truly trust. This episode challenges listeners to ask themselves: Do I have the gift of desperation? Am I desperate enough for God to hear and to respond? What would it take to become fully dependent on Him? Not out of fear. But out of trust. 💡 QUESTIONS THIS EPISODE INVITESThis conversation doesn’t rush answers. It invites posture: How do you know when God is speaking? What happens when obedience costs you comfort? Are you listening or waiting for certainty first? What if dependence is actually the point? 🪞 A REFLECTION FOR THE LISTENERStephanie’s story isn’t meant to be copied; it’s meant to be considered. You may not be called to leave your job. But you may be called to listen differently. To pray more honestly. To loosen your grip on control. And to ask whether desperation for God, not outcomes, might actually be a gift. 🔗 CONNECT WITH STEPHANIE RIVARD🌐 TeeMWORK – Stephanie Rivard ✨ The Clarity Advantage 🎧 LISTEN & FOLLOW OTHER PEOPLE’S SHOES🩵 Instagram 👍 Facebook 🐦 X 📺 YouTube 👟 Website 📣 LEAVE A REVIEWIf this episode challenged how you listen, pray, or trust, a review helps others find conversations that ask deeper questions. 👉 Leave a review

🎂🎙 SEASON 22: WHO’S THERE: REFLECTIONSA Seven-Year Birthday Episode of Other People’s Shoes 🚪 SEASON THEME: WHO’S THEREThis season asks a quiet but powerful question: Who’s there when life knocks? Sometimes it’s loud. Sometimes it’s gentle. Sometimes it’s barely noticeable. Season 22 is about learning to listen, especially to the small nudges we’re tempted to ignore. 🎉 SEVEN YEARS AND A DIFFERENT KIND OF BIRTHDAYThis episode marks seven years of Other People’s Shoes. In the past, birthday episodes have looked like celebrations and countdowns. This year felt different. Instead of looking outward, this milestone called for reflection on growth, on listening, and on how this show has quietly shown up, week after week, like a steady presence. So rather than a traditional birthday episode, I brought back a familiar voice from the past, echoing a line from the Season 22 intro itself. 👣 My guest today is Cindy Ryan, who first joined the show on October 5, 2022. Cindy’s work has always centered on reflection, listening inward to find healing and clarity. That way of listening didn’t just shape her work. It shaped her life. In 2024, Cindy felt a nudge. A quiet knock. A sense that something needed attention. She listened. That nudge led to a cancer diagnosis. Had Cindy ignored it, had she brushed it off, or stayed busy, she would not be here today recording this episode. 🎵 THE SONG THAT REOPENED THE DOORIn the midst of Cindy’s journey, including a vulnerable, hairless Instagram post during treatment, I felt led to reach out. I didn’t have the right words. So I sent a song. If You Heard It from a Friend. That song became the bridge to the reconnection and ultimately, the reason Cindy is back on the show today. Because sometimes what someone needs most isn’t advice… It’s a reminder. 🪞 A FRIEND HOLDING UP THE MIRRORThe heart of that song feels like the heart of this episode and, honestly, the heart of this show: “Here I am holding up a mirror Hoping you might see Yourself a little clearer Beyond a shadow of a doubt From where I’m standing now I see the light in you.” In seasons when Cindy couldn’t always see herself clearly, the song spoke what a friend would say when words fall short. And maybe in some small way Other People’s Shoes can be that too. A place you come back to. A voice that reminds you who you are. A steady presence that shows up, even when things aren’t pleasant or easy. 🚨 THE POWER OF LISTENINGThis episode isn’t about guarantees. There was no promise that Cindy would “make it out.” Only the choice to listen. To respond. To take the next step when the knock came. As Cindy shares in this conversation: Cancer changes your priorities. Sometimes, listening to the smallest nudge changes everything. 💭 QUESTIONS THIS EPISODE INVITESThis conversation doesn’t rush answers. It invites reflection: How do you respond when you feel a nudge to reach out? What reassurance do we really have? Can the community carry us when we’re unsure? What happens when a friend reminds you of what you can’t see? 🔗 CONNECT WITH CINDY RYAN🌐 Website 📸 Instagram 🎙️ Podcast 🪞 REFLECTION FOR THE SHOW AND FOR YOUThis birthday episode isn’t just about seven years of Other People’s Shoes. It’s about listening to the knocks, the nudges, and the quiet reminders that we’re not alone. Sometimes life knocks. Sometimes a friend does. PSA
2026/01/28
🎙 PSAThis season called "Who's There?" asks a simple but important question: Who’s there when life knocks and do we listen? Sometimes the knock is loud. Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it comes in the form of a number on a lab report that feels easy to dismiss. This episode is about paying attention even when the signal feels small. 🧪 WHY “PSA” IS MORE THAN A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTA Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test is a blood test that measures a protein produced by the prostate gland. It’s commonly used to screen for prostate cancer. Higher PSA levels can indicate prostate cancer — but they can also be caused by non-cancerous conditions like prostatitis or an enlarged prostate (BPH). What matters most isn’t just a single number… it’s the trend over time, the context, and the questions that follow. This episode explores what happens when a knock is noticed — but not fully understood. 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTIONMy guest today is Jason Stone, the creator and host of Prostate Cancer: The Road to Recovery. Jason is living with stage 4 prostate cancer, and through his podcast and YouTube channel he shares his journey openly inviting survivors, fighters, and medical experts into honest conversations about treatment, stigma, resilience, and men’s health. With a background in English and screenwriting, Jason brings clarity, precision, and humanity to conversations that are often rushed or avoided altogether. ⏳ THE MOMENT THAT LOOKED “NORMAL”Back in 2017, Jason had a PSA test that came back slightly elevated, but still below what was considered “high.” He was sent for a scan without explanation. No clear follow-up. No guidance. No monitoring plan. The doctor didn’t express concern and didn’t recommend continued PSA testing. Jason walked away believing there was nothing wrong. Looking back, Jason knows that moment mattered. If he could return to that appointment, he would have: Asked why the scan was ordered Asked what his PSA number actually meant Set up annual PSA monitoring to watch for changes over time Because sometimes what feels “fine” is actually the first knock. 💡 WHAT THIS EPISODE HIGHLIGHTSThis conversation isn’t about blame it’s about awareness: Why PSA trends matter more than a single result The importance of asking questions, even when doctors seem unconcerned How silence after testing can create false reassurance Why self-advocacy matters especially in men’s health Jason’s story reminds us that not all knocks announce themselves clearly. 🔗 CONNECT WITH JASON STONE📺 YouTube 🎙️ Podcast 🎧 LISTEN & FOLLOW OTHER PEOPLE’S SHOES🩵 Instagram 👍 Facebook 🐦 X 📺 YouTube 👟 Website 📣 LEAVE A REVIEWIf this episode encouraged you to ask better questions for yourself or someone you love a review helps these conversations reach the people who need them. 👉 Leave a review
Twenty Twenty

🎙 WHO’S THERE -“2020”Hindsight is 20/20… but only after everything changes 🚪 SEASON THEME: WHO’S THERESeason 22 asks a simple but unsettling question: What happens when life knocks… and you answer? And just as powerfully  what happens when you don’t? Some knocks are subtle. Some are disruptive. Some arrive without warning and change the direction of everything. This season explores the moments when life crosses the threshold not always politely and asks us to respond. 👁️ WHY “HINDSIGHT IS 20/20”We hear the phrase “hindsight is 20/20” all the time. It means clarity only comes after the moment has passed. After the decision. After the accident. After the door has already been opened or slammed shut. You don’t see clearly in the moment. You see clearly looking back. This episode lives right there in the space between what we thought we knew and what life revealed later. 👣 GUEST INTRODUCTIONToday’s guest is Danielle Matthews and yes, we share the same last name, though we are not related. That coincidence opens the door to a deeper conversation about perspective, meaning, and how clarity often comes after impact. Danielle talks about the importance of staying in your own lane focusing inward, doing your work, and not being pulled into chaos that isn’t yours. And then she shares this: At 23, a drunk driver crossed into her lane and hit her head-on. Not because she wasn’t paying attention. Not because she did anything wrong. But because life doesn’t always respect our lanes. Only later in hindsight did meaning begin to take shape. We even briefly touch on cultural ideas of irony, including Ironic, but what surfaces is something more honest than irony: the truth that wisdom doesn’t prevent life from knocking it shapes how we respond after. 🌱 HER STORYDoctors told Danielle to accept permanent impairment as her new normal. She refused. What followed wasn’t just physical recovery it was an internal awakening. Despite being told she would never heal, Danielle restored her physical health through redox signaling. That internal shift opened the door to Eastern philosophy, Yoga Nidra, and Yoga Therapy practices that helped her reset her nervous system, release stored trauma, and find calm no matter what was happening externally. What happened to her didn’t make sense in the moment. It only began to make sense looking back. That’s hindsight. 💡 POWERFUL POINTS FROM THIS EPISODEThese aren’t takeaways they’re reflections that come with time: If you feel like a victim, what if life isn’t conspiring against you, but awakening you? What is this challenge making possible? Who can I be when I am complete as I am? The best thing that ever happened to me was my accident. It’s not out there it’s inside me. When awareness shifts, you see fault differently. There is a blue sky somewhere… even when you can’t see it yet. 🔗 CONNECT WITH DANIELLE📺 YouTube 🎧 LISTEN & FOLLOW OTHER PEOPLE’S SHOES🩵 Instagram 👍 Facebook 🐦 X 📺 YouTube 👟 Website 📣 LEAVE A REVIEWIf this episode helped you see something differently looking back, a review helps others find conversations that meet them right where they are. 👉 Leave a review
