How Do I Know What My Next Step Is?
2026/08/31
When you're in a season of transition, one question can feel especially pressing: How do I know what my next step is?
We often think we need complete clarity before we move forward. But sometimes what we're really looking for is certainty—the assurance that we're making the right decision and won't regret it later.
In this episode of Navigate, Tim explores a different approach: instead of trying to figure out the whole path, focus on what you already know and the next faithful step you can take. Sometimes that step isn't a major decision at all. It may be a conversation, an experiment, a question, or simply giving yourself permission to explore.
You'll also be invited to consider three coaching questions:
What do you already know to be true about this season? What is one step you could take that would help you learn something? What would your next step look like if it didn't have to answer every question about your future? You don't need the whole path illuminated. Sometimes you just need enough light for the next faithful step.
Want to go deeper? Join Tim for the live Navigating Transition workshop on September 22. Together, we'll explore a practical framework for understanding what happens during seasons of change and how to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Why We Resist the Seasons We Need Most
2026/08/22
What are you resisting right now—and what might that resistance be telling you?
In this episode of Navigate, Tim shares from his own experience of stepping away from a ministry role to pursue coaching more fully—and the resistance that surfaced along the way. What looked like a career decision was actually touching nearly every area of his life: family, finances, relationships, identity, purpose, and faith.
Resistance doesn't always mean we're headed in the wrong direction. Sometimes it reveals what we're afraid of losing, what matters most to us, or where growth is asking us to release something familiar.
In this episode, we'll explore how to become curious about resistance rather than simply trying to overcome it—and how to discern the invitation that may be hiding underneath it.
Reflection Question:
What am I resisting right now—and what might that resistance be telling me?

You’ll learn how to identify the tension that feels most present for you and begin managing it with greater awareness, clarity, and intention.

The Truth About Transition: It's More Than Change
2026/07/21
Transition is about more than changing jobs, moving to a new city, retiring, or facing a major life event. Those are the visible changes. The deeper work happens beneath the surface.
In this episode, Tim Austin explores the difference between change and transition, explaining why so many people feel unsettled even after making the "right" decision. You'll discover how transition shapes your identity, relationships, and sense of purpose—and why paying attention to what's happening inside you is just as important as navigating what's happening around you.
If you're in a season of uncertainty or helping someone else through one, this conversation will give you a fresh perspective and lay the foundation for the Navigate Change Framework™ that will be explored in the episodes ahead.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why change and transition are not the same thing. What really happens beneath the surface during life's biggest changes. Why some people emerge stronger from transition while others feel stuck. A simple question that can help you navigate your own season of change.Ready to take the next step?

Digging Wells of Trust with Tim Austin
2024/01/02
In this episode of Navigate, Tim is reflecting on building trust through transition seasons. Navigating change requires trust building. But that’s not always easy. It can sometimes feel like digging a well in hostile or unknown territory.
Tim compares the process of trust building with the ancient practice of digging wells. In the Bible, wells were regularly places of divine appointments and answers to prayer. They were places of provision, but also points of contact. A good well was reliable, life-giving and life-sustaining.
Likewise, when we dig wells of trust through the seasons - with God and with others - we are storing up a reliable source of relational capital, namely trust. Tim offers some important communication tips to help us dig wells of trust in transition.

Identity in Transition with Tim Austin
2023/10/31
How are you leaning into change in this season? What’s your posture like? Have you been resisting or embracing the changes in your life?
In this episode of Navigate with Tim Austin, Tim reflects upon seasons of change and how these become opportunities to discover and embrace our true identities and live with greater purpose and fulfillment.
Tim has a deep appreciation for the many creative ways seasonal change has helped him approach change on a personal level. Tim says, "Sometimes we might resist change because of the way it challenges our sense of identity and purpose. I’ve come to view certain transition seasons as an opportunity for shedding and letting go of the non-essentials. For getting back to what matters. For learning to walk out my days with less baggage, not more."
