After the launch of a special Manx language double edition of the prestigious academic International Journal of the Sociology of Language, we join a discussion led by a panel including Director of Culture Vannin, Breesha Maddrell, Culture Vannin's Manx Language Development Officer, Ruth Keggin Gell, and Manx National Heritage Curator, Nicola Tooms.

Fiona McArdle introduces the launch at Yn Chruinnaght by Dr Chris Lewin of the University of Edinburgh and Dr Erin McNulty of University College Cork, the editors of a a special double edition, focussing on the Manx language, of a prestigious international academic journal.

Celia Bales of Massachusetts dance group, Red Wing Blackbird, talks about their Manx dance repertoire. A number of Manx performers are currently at the huge Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany. Ealee Sheard tells us about the Island's representation this year.

Chloe Woolley and Jo Callister of Yn Chruinnaght Celtic Gathering committee round up events from Thursday evening, 30th July, to Sunday 2nd August. Following Manx musicians Isla Callister and Ruth Keggin at Yn Chruinnaght was an international film crew, and we hear from Director Garry Keane of RTE and Producer for Italian company Connemaris Media, Emanuele Galloni.

Music, poetry, drama and an agricultural show to note in your diary, and Chloe Woolley and Jo Callister of Yn Chruinnaght Celtic Gathering, the Island's long-running inter-Celtic festival, give an overview of this year's festival which runs from Monday 27th July to Sunday 2nd August.

16th April 1746 was the date of the Battle of Culloden, of which repercussions were felt in the Island, as shown in the Atholl Papers. Stephen Miller, RBV talks of the background to his research work and how he shares that knowledge, prior to his talk in the Centenary Centre in Peel at 2.30pm on Saturday 18th April about Edward Faragher and Karl Roeder, Folklorists and Friends.

As the Corrib Singers from County Galway give their final performances here in the Island, there's Manx participation in the Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland. We hear from Cara and Laura Rowles and the band, Shenn Scoill, and from Owen Williams and the band, Smooinaght Mie, about the Manx-language songs they've written and will be singing at the festival.

Y Chaisht is the Manx name for Eastertide, and there are traditions and saying associated with the season. Shennaghys Jiu 2026 takes place over the Easter weekend, and we hear about it - and its future - from founder and chairman of the organizing committee, Juan Garrett, RBV.

In addition to dates for your diary for poetry, an illustrated talk and concerts of music, there's the history and background of the annual Sophia Morrison Award and a song written and performed by a great Manx Radio favourite for a number of years, Alan Jackson.

Fiona McArdle celebrates World Poetry Day, a UNESCO initiative which falls on 21st March. We hear newly-appointed 8th Manx Youth Bard, Matilda Watson, and the Treasurer of the Isle of Man Poetry Society, Bethany de Legh Runciman, as well as from the 1st and 5th Manx Bards.

In the last programme in the current series, Maralyn Crellin looks at some sayings associated with the Christmas time and with James Franklin of Culture Vannin we explore the tradition of The White Boys' play, song and dance.

Fiona McArdle presents a programme which looks at two kinsmen who wanted change, and the sea and its importance, not just in the life of the Island.

Hughie Jones of The Spinners wrote about the loss of the Ellan Vannin on 3rd December 1909. There's that song and reminiscences of the Ellan Vannin from Mona Douglas. In Kirk Arbory, an unusual custom was held on 6th December, with an associated song and other music.
