In this episode, we examine "Rose: Portrait of a Woman" as Blanche convinces Rose that the perfect birthday gift for Miles is a naughty photograph of herself — which goes about as well as any idea Blanche has ever talked Rose into. Meanwhile, Dorothy is offered a well-paid position teaching adult education and takes it, and Sophia's delight at Dorothy finally making real money is one of the episode's best running jokes. It's a light, fun episode that the final stretch of Season 7 earns after everything that came before it.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

In this episode, we break down "A Midwinter Night's Dream, Part 2" as Sophia races to complete three tasks before moonrise to break the witch's curse — and Miles and Dorothy accidentally kiss in the middle of all of it. Rose finds out. The episode borrows its structure from Shakespeare and earns the comparison: wrong people falling into the wrong moments, magic and moonlight making everything worse before it gets better. Dorothy literally quotes A Midsummer Night's Dream in the closing scene, and it lands.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

This has been a podcast about The Golden Girls since it's inception. Sadly, we are coming to the end of The Golden Girls. It won't be the end of this podcast. The podcast is being rebranded. It will now be called The Television Time Capsule Podcast. The Golden Girls will continue until it is finished. I will then do the one season of The Golden Palace. After that, we are going to move on to Hot in Cleveland. This show also has four fabulous ladies .... and Betty White as Elka. After that, I'll keep adding shows. Stay tuned for more surprises. Stay Golden.

In this episode, we dive into "A Midwinter Night's Dream, Part 1" — part of NBC's "Full Moon Over Miami" leap year crossover event with Empty Nest and Nurses — as Blanche throws an invitation-only Moonlight Madness party and Sophia informs Dorothy that the full moon has activated a Sicilian witch's curse placed on her decades ago. Miles quietly tells Rose he wants to marry her. Three things are happening simultaneously and none of them are going to resolve neatly before the hour is up.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

In this episode, we examine "Journey to the Center of Attention" as Blanche takes Dorothy to the Rusty Anchor to cheer her up — and Dorothy accidentally discovers that she can hold an entire bar in the palm of her hand with her singing voice. Blanche watches her own turf disappear in real time and does not take it gracefully. The episode is a perfect character study in what happens when the sidekick becomes the star, and Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan are both magnificent in it.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

In this episode, we break down "Ebbtide VI: The Wrath of Stan" as Uncle Angelo calls Dorothy for help with a bug infestation at his building — which Dorothy uses as cover for her real agenda: exposing the relationship between Stan and Gloria once and for all. The plan produces results nobody expected, including Dorothy. The episode is sharp and satisfying, and the "Ebbtide" franchise delivering its sixth installment in Season 7 is exactly the kind of in-joke this show carried with complete confidence.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

In this episode, we dive into "Questions and Answers" as Dorothy learns that Jeopardy! is coming to Miami to audition local contestants, and she cannot get there fast enough. She auditions. She dreams of the show. Her dream version of Jeopardy! features Rose as a competitor and a game that is rigged — which tells you everything about Dorothy's unconscious mind. It's a love letter to a woman who has always been the smartest person in the room and has never once stopped wanting someone to officially confirm it.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

In this episode, we examine "The Commitments" as Blanche's latest boyfriend refuses to sleep with her — which sends Blanche into an existential spiral about whether she's losing her appeal. The episode gives Rue McClanahan something specific to play: not rejection exactly, but the threat of it, which for Blanche is almost worse. Meanwhile, Dorothy wins tickets to Beatlemania and develops a fixation on the cast member playing a Beatle that is entirely earnest and completely Bea Arthur.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

In this episode, we break down "Goodbye, Mr. Gordon" as Dorothy's 11th-grade English teacher — the one she had a crush on for years — reaches out, and she is absolutely not playing it cool about it. The episode earns its sting when it becomes clear his motives for reconnecting may not be what she hoped. Meanwhile, Rose secures Blanche and Dorothy a spot on her local TV show, which produces the kind of embarrassing results only this cast could make this funny.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

In this episode, we dive into "Old Boyfriends" as a man from St. Olaf arrives claiming to have been Rose's teenage boyfriend — and Rose has absolutely no memory of him whatsoever. The episode plays Rose's blankness not as cruelty but as an honest portrait of someone who has loved a lot of people and kept better track of some than others. Meanwhile, Sophia is convinced she's found her perfect match through the personals, which goes exactly how Sophia's romantic endeavors tend to go.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

In this episode, we examine "The Pope's Ring" as Pope John Paul II's Papal mass comes to Miami and Sophia is determined to receive a personal blessing — by any means necessary. What starts as religious devotion escalates into Sophia attempting to get closer to the Pope than anyone around her considers appropriate, and eventually ends with the Pope's ring. The episode is one of Season 7's most purely Sophia episodes, which is the highest compliment this show can receive.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

In this episode, we break down "From Here to the Pharmacy" as a soldier returns from the Persian Gulf and shows up at Blanche's door — he was her lover before he deployed, and now he's back. The episode handles the reunion with more complexity than a simple love story would, asking what we owe someone who held onto us through something we may have moved past. Blanche is not always good at those calculations, and this episode makes her sit with one she can't charm her way out of.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

Blanche's grandmothers plantation is going to be torn down. It's more than she can handle. She drags them all there to try and stop it. Meanwhile, Sophia has a near death experience and reunites with Sal for a few moments in heaven. Dorothy tries to keep everyone in one piece.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

Rose and Miles are having some issues. He has suddenly become extremely cheap. Dorothy goes off on a cruise and leaves Blanche incharge of Sophia. Poor Blanche.

The aftermath of Gloria and Stan sleeping together is bad. Sophia goes out into the hurricane. The fundraiser ends when the lighthouse is destroyed in the storm. The location they are filming out becomes the hurricane shelter and everyone is forced into the same space together.   --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc
