In this sermon we consider how Jesus applies the principle that Kingdom citizens must practice their righteousness unto God and not unto men for when we live out our life unto God we will be rewarded by God himself.

In this sermon we start a new section in the sermon in the mount. Jesus teaches what a Godward life truly looks like as opposed to a life that is lived unto men. Kingdom citizens desire to please God in all things whether in secret or in the public eye.

Jesus has taught how we must not respond to persecution and the violation of our rights personally, so now we see where Jesus states our response positively. As citizens of His Kingdom, we are called to rise above the common and ordinary displays of love that are common and so show that we are children of God!

In Matthew 5:38-42 we find a challenging text that men have interpreted very differently throughout church history. In light of the fact that Jesus is not abolishing the law of Moses, we seek to understand a Biblical understanding of this passage.

Is it always wrong to make an oath or vow? How are we to understand these challenging words of Jesus in Matthew 5:33-37? In this sermon Dave opens up the Scripture and helps us understand the applicaiton of this passage.

As Jesus continues to pull the mask of self-righteousness off, he comes to the matter of lust and adultery. Like anger, the sin of lust in the heart is offensive to God and makes one liable to His judgement. True obedience means a heart that is walking in purity! Matthew 5:31-32

Matthew 5:21-26. In this sermon we see that anger in the heart is an offence against God and will make one liable to the judgement of God. Jesus calls His followers to a heart level obedience and not simply an outward form of it.

Matthew 5:21-23

This sermon is from Mt. 5:17-20. In it we see an crucial key to understanding The Sermon on The Mount. Namely, that Jesus is not coming to undo the law that Moses taught, but rather fulfill it. Jesus is not anti-law, but is seeking to expose the false righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees and show the true spirit of the law of God.

Matthew 5:14

In this sermon we consider Jesus’ metaphor of christians as salt of the earth. Sermon text is Matthew 5:13

Rory St John from Fairview Baptist Church in Calgary preached for us from 1 Corinthians. He helps us understand how to guard against the temptation to follow after men instead of following Christ!

In this sermon we conclude our mini series on the Lord’s Supper. We look at Paul’s words to the Corinthian Church on the matter, which is found in 1 Corinthians 11.

In this lesson we continue in our study of the book of Proverbs.
