184: Dr. Ilse Garcia on Pelvic Floor Therapy and Women's Health Issues
2024/02/14
Dr. Ilse Garcia is a pelvic floor physical therapist who specializes in helping women move freely, confidently, and leak free in any stage of life. She is a Postpartum Certified Exercise Specialist (PCES) through Core Exercise Solutions and clinically trained by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Additionally, she has undergone a three-year mentorship and training in myofascial release pertaining to pelvic and orthopedic issues. Ilse received her doctorate in physical therapy in Texas and moved to Las Vegas May 2023.
Dr. Garcia is driven by her mission to shed light on pelvic floor dysfunction and women’s health issues, as they can limit one’s ability to do the things they enjoy. Seeking pelvic health services and bringing up personal issues to providers can be a scary thing for many of us. Let's be honest - it isn't easy to speak about these issues openly. Dr. Garcia's message is that women do not need to settle with living with these issues and simply putting a bandaid. She wants women to listen to this and feel empowered to ask the right questions and find help that will help provide them the freedom to do the activities they love and enjoy.

180: Are You Assertive?
2024/01/18
We all have a dominant interaction style when it comes to getting things we want - you either lead with withdrawn, compliant or assertive. And, they all are effective when used in the right context. If you tend to struggle with flexing that assertive muscle, that isn't a bad thing -- but it's important to know that you do have the ability to be assertive (in a way that feels authentic to you).
This episode is about identifying what level of assertiveness you lead with, and whether or not you want to dial it up or down -- and how.
Assertiveness can sometimes have a bad rap because it can be misused, but when it comes to using our voice, sharing ideas and needs, it's important to access it.
Listen in and let me know your thoughts!

175: 4 Ways to Defuse Your Thoughts
2023/11/29
When we are upset, it's easy for our thoughts to take over our minds. We might become fixated on one particular thought and have trouble focusing on anything else. This is called being fused with our thoughts. It's a common experience that many people have.
Thought defusion techniques can be helpful to escape the trap of negative thoughts. These techniques are based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and function by redirecting focus from the actual thoughts to the thought process. The outcome is a less chaotic and overworked mind and a more impartial outlook.
Tune in for 4 techniques you can try right away.

173: The Art of Quitting: Why Knowing When to Give Up Can Be the Key to Success
2023/11/08
Quitting has gotten a bad rap. There’s a negative connotation associated with leaving things behind, unfinished; not staying committed.
We’re told to never give up. Keep going. Don't quit.
But, there are consequences to not quitting. We miss out on opportunities and growth; sometimes sacrifice our health if we don’t quit things. So today on the She Doesn’t Settle episode I’m sharing why I want you to get good at quitting and six ways you can quit.
Quitting has to be part of your vocabulary if you’re going to stop settling. So, be sure to listen and then let me know what you intend to quit!
