Being the co-founder of Singapore-based label Darker Than Wax and the newly opened listening bar Offtrack, Dean has been tirelessly pushing and promoting an alternative expression of lefteld music through his widely eclectic and genre-bending sets. As the main A+R and creative mind behind DTW, the label has flourished tremendously over the past 5 years, cementing its place as one of the go-to labels out of South East Asia. His musical selections, which traverses across an extensive spectrum from deep jazz to the freshest cuts have left many indelible marks on the dancefloors. A highly respected digger who is also known by many in the circuit for his extensive musical knowledge, technically astute skills, and blends, it’s no surprise that he has warmed up or shared the stage with Bradley Zero, Lefto, Alex Kassian, HAAI, Pablo Valentino, Marcellus Pittman, Pearson Sound, the late Mike Huckaby and many more. There’s always an element of surprise in his sets - just open them ears.

An insightful sitdown with Esmonde Luo, a forager currently based in Singapore. .......... What began as an interest in the natural world eventually developed into a fascination with the plants that grow in our wilds and their myriad uses - medicine, utility, and especially food. Discovering these lesser-known fruits and herbs and their potential for food led Esmonde to seeing his surroundings in a new light, and was eager to share this sense of wonderment with others. Since about 2010, Esmonde has been conducting foraging tours informally, bringing friends and small groups on rambles aand camping trips. In 2019, he finally got his license as an Area Tour Guide so he could start sharing my experiences beyond my social circle, conducting tours regularly on Airbnb.

An insightful sitdown with Christopher , an urban farmer based in Singapore . .......... Christopher Leow a.k.a. 'The Freestyle Farmer' is an Urban Farmer based in Singapore. His vision is to inspire others to grow their own food and be more self-suffcient. Having spent over a decade across the food value chain, having worked from 'Farm to Table' in multiple countries like Australia and Ireland, working across a diverse range of industries including being a chef, barista, grocer, and farmer. Some of his past projects include being the Head Farmer of the World's highest rooftop Urban farm - CapitaSpring. As well as the General Manager of the Urban Farming pioneer, Edible Garden City. His current role is the founder of 'The Freestyle Farmer' brand/consultancy, as well as the CEO of a cricket protein startup, Future Protein Solutions, and an adjuct lecturer in RP's Urban Agricultural Technology Diploma. He has also written a memoir about his Urban Farming journey, 'The Freestyle Farmer'. And he has been a host of a farming documentary 'Growing Wild' that has been featured on Channel News Asia. Chris truly enjoys the 'manual labour' and being outdoors. In his free time, he tends to his open concept Community Garden 'Nutopia' and goes for unplanned travels for inspiration.

As he strives to explore and grow in his craft, he picked up various genres including Popping, Locking, Breaking and House. This diverse exposure allowed him to develop a unique flavour in his movement. Luqman's craft has been recognised in both the local and international freestyle scene, representing Singapore in competitions such as the prestigious Juste Debout Festival in New York and Japanese Dance Delight. He passionately believes in the value of educating the next generation in the art of street dance. Being the Founder of SHIFT, he passionately believes in the value of educating the art of street dance, as he hopes to bring the Street Dance Culture to the new generation of Singapore.

An insightful sitdown with Joshua Lim, a Singapore based actor, host and voice talent. .......... Joshua is an actor that wishes he could be as brave as Karen Tan to drop a one-liner bio.  But alas, he isn’t.   Instead, he’s a father of two vivacious daughters, husband to a beautiful and intelligent wife, trying to juggle the many roles of life as he does the roles on stage (and in front of the camera). Fortunately, his juggling act proves up to scratch, receiving nominations for various awards over the years, and actually clinching Best Audiobook Singapore Book Awards 2021 for his work on Impractical Uses Of Cake (available on Storytel).   He is often given double takes by strangers who probably recognise him from the screens in the lifts or gyms when CNA plays reruns of the award-winning infotainment series Why It Matters. He’s quite proud of having done five seasons of it (and one COVID-special!), but really, someone should tell him “Does It Matter?”

Hafeez Hassan is a silat practitioner, functional rehab specialist, and movement coach who has been in the performing arts industry for more than 20 years. Known for his “dynamic movement design” on stage, Hafeez has been involved in numerous musicals ,music videos and tv commercials both as a performer and choreographer. Due to the nature of his job, his passion towards physical movement grew. His curiosity then brought him into the fitness world where he became a certified fitness coach and a rehab specialist. With all the knowledge and experiences he has gathered over the years, It dawned on him that the key to longevity of the body is correct alignment/posture especially when the body is in motion and this includes daily activities. His practices integrates dance, silat and yoga with functional corrective exercises to align the body, mind and spirit to achieve a peaceful body and a more empowered posture when moving. Till today, Hafeez continues to share his craft on various platforms including his current men’s work movement: The Brothers Circle where he invites men to go within their hearts and mind while empowering their body language through movement.”
