"I would say only 12 of us stood strong through the long run…" – Michael Batyuk, Part 2
2026/10/26
We’re continuing our conversation with Michael Batyuk, who has been explaining how he came from an immigrant family from Ukraine and grew up on the wild side here in the United States. He shared about hitting rock bottom from a life of drugs and alcohol; and, after seeing many of his friends die, how he cried out for help and entered a recovery program where he encountered the Lord. He talks about what it was like to step back into the world again after that experience. Was he really changed?
“I hit rock-bottom, lower than many people probably have ever hit rock-bottom!”-Michael Batyuk,1
2026/10/19
Our guest today is Michael Batyuk, whose extraordinary story begins with his family's escape from a totalitarian regime that persecuted them for their faith. As a toddler, Michael was brought to America, where his family sought freedom to build a new life. Can you imagine what it must have felt like to wake up as a toddler in a completely new country, surrounded by unfamiliar sights, sounds, and people? But Michael's story doesn't end there. Despite the opportunities before him, his life eventually took a painful turn, leading him down a path that brought him to rock bottom—before hope and redemption entered the picture.

We’ve been visiting with Hans Shapp who’s been sharing with us how he came out of East Germany during a time in the 70's when barriers of barbed wire and concrete walls had blocked off the East to what he thought was a new-found freedom in the West. But it wasn’t until he was introduced to Jesus as his Lord and Savior that his life truly changed!
"It was the greatest thing that I ever have felt, & I felt so free...it was amazing!”-Hans Shapp, 2
2026/09/28
On our last podcast, Hans Shapp told of his life growing up behind the wall in East Germany during the 60's and 70's under Communist rule; and then, suddenly being deported to the West. It was like a child having free run in a candy shop! Neon lights glowed in the night skies. Music blared out from the discotheques. Drugs and alcohol were widely available. Did this bring Hans happiness, peace and freedom?
“It was in every part of life. ‘Big Brother’ is watching you and this was reality...”-Hans Shapp, 1
