WRYAT A-LIVE
2026/01/01
Recorded before a-live audience on June 13, 2025
Oh, you guys didn't think WRYAT was actually ending, did you? I mean, it's not gonna be a podcast anymore, it's mostly gonna be just like what this episode is: a live show, complete with all the variations that come with it. Of course we're gonna keep doing WRYAT and WRYAT stuff, ya idiot!
Yeah, everybody lived after the explosion that took out the entire studio last week. Well, everybody except Matthew Ray the janitor, viva los muertos. I only hope that in death he's found whatever he was looking for in life. RIP MR. We'll miss you as a person, as a friend, and especially as a janitor because the hiring process is a HUGE pain the ass. Ugggghhh, I don't get paid enough for hiring people who won't get paid enough.
Anywho, doesn't matter much as we don't have a studio at current, so we'll be forced to perform all of our future shows live like this one until we do again. So be on the lookout for whatever we do next in 2026 and beyond, and if anyone knows a good janitor, or just one who doesn't want to kill us all by blowing up our workplace, please let us know. Thanks and have a happy new year or whatever.
WRYAT S8E6 - WRYAT presents The End of WRYAT sponsored by WRYAT
2025/12/24
Well, that's it, I guess. That show with the lady talk-fighting with the hive mind, is done. The show with the 80s kids fighting scary monsters is done. The show with the sad kid in a giant robot fighting angels has been done for like 30 years. Everything is ending. But don't fear, cause like the pheonix that is Intellectual Property, just give it like 15 years and it will be back, baby! I just hope that Timothee Chalamet Jr. plays me. I know he's not born yet, but that kid has a future ahead of him.
Anywho, I now present you with the last WRYAT episode. It's been since 20X9 or something and you all have been listening to us talk about boats to puppets to bags of chips. So give your earholes one last treat as you pretend to be nice to family members who no longer give you a rando $5 just cause you're a cutie pie. Damn I wish my great aunt was still kicking, that sweet five bucks would be clutch right now. GO LISTEN!
WRYAT S8E5 - Bugs sponsored by The New Orleans Insect Eh-rium
2025/12/19
Remember in the 90s when toy companies were like, "Girls can bake little cakes, and that's cool. However, what can boys bake? We can't let them bake cakes as well. How will they ever make rap videos or play plumber man video games? Wait, what if we gave them a plastic box that has a light bulb hotter than the sun and give them metal plates to make bugs." Somewhere a dude retired on this idea. Now I had a curiosity for spiders, but they ain't bugs. Spiders are ordered off the fancy wine menu, bugs are 5 dollar bottle of sugar water booze you drink on a dare. But those make-your-own toxic rubber worms were not my idea of fun. I wanted the cake machine that took 4 hours to make a half inch of sheet cake. But I was the middle class kid who got scary books for kids, and damn it, I am prepared for the world. You nerds with black and red striped mosquitoes or all colors mixed together poo-poo brown caterpillar, you never trained to expect that even when things work out, an old man wirting books for 12-year-olds is going to pull that rug from under your feet. Anywho, we have an exciting episode about bugs and all things bugs. So pull out your ear worms and listen about bugs.
WRYAT S8E4 - Foreign Policy sponsored by Fresh Start Firepower
2025/12/12
I can't tell you how much it means to me that this country is a melting pot of cultures. Nowhere else can I have a taco pizza and a pizza taco side-by-side on my plate. It makes me weep seeing how America let these two foods animorph into one another and stop it halfway. Not only that, but we reached across the aisle and were like, "You got taco meat on my pizza crust," and "You got pizza meat in my taco crust". There was no fighting, just the agreement that both were right. I don't know about other countries, but this is what our forefathers fought for.
Sorry, I was crying there for a bit and thinking that I didn't even get into hamburger eggrolls or sushi-ritos. That is either a giant sushi roll rolled in tin foil with burrito stuff or a tortilla with sushi stuff. But I digress, this week's episode is going to take two of your favorite things and mush them together: Foreign stuff and policy stuff. Go, get your amalgamation of choice to eat and listen up.
WRYAT S8E2 - Propaganda...for Kids! sponsored by Emancipation Station
2025/12/05
I was walking down the street the other day when I saw a lemonade stand. It was a cute setup that a little girl had with her giant pitcher and princess cups. I was drawn to pay a dollar for a glass of lemonade to quench my thirst. As I was sipping the yellow tart nectar, the little girl proceeded to ask me who I voted for in the election. She asked if I thought the economy was in shambles or if I was pro-union. I was shocked. This 8-year-old was drilling me on my voting habits, and when I told her I didn't vote, oh boy, did she tell me what was wrong with Millennials. She blamed my avocado toast for raising the prices of princess tiaras and my lack of 7 children for why the city can no longer afford the free sewing class at the library. For 83 minutes, this child laid into me about why I needed to get my head on straight and attend more city planning task group meetings. Suffice it to say that the glass of lemonade was mediocre.
WRYAT S8E2 - The Day Drinking Special sponsored by Pudd Beer
2025/11/28
Werewolves are one thing, but the reverse werewolf is a creature of intrigue. I say this cuase I have a coffee date with a friend next week and need to up my philosophy game. Ain't no way I am not going in with some deep thoughts done thought up. So watch out, Jerry, I have a book of words that I have been annotating and 7 questions that will show off how I, too, can think of cool conversation-prompting questions. You looked so cool at last Friendsgiving, but I am coming in for the sneak attack and getting you at our coffee meet-up so that you are devastated at the actual dinner. How does a Gremlin know it's past midnight, and does daylight savings play a part in this? What if everyone in Lost was dead the whole time? What if House was just a if Sherlock Holmes were a doctor? Think about that, Jerry! What if Twin Peaks is real? Huh, Jerry? What if the Fast and the Furious movie series is just a fever dream by Dom, who was injured in the first movie and is in a coma, and the other movies are him just processing in his own head, and that is why the rest of the movies are goofy and not realistic? Anywho, enough talking about Jerry. This week's episode is about Day Drinking, and I think I will get one or 9 for myself. So go listen, chumps, and don't be a Jerry.
WRYAT S8E1 - Dogs sponsored by The Purebred White Bloodhound Preservation Consortium
2025/11/21
Dogs: Man's best friend. Cat's worst enemy. Horses' best reference for job applications.
Yeah, this week is about dogs. Listen, I don't know much about dogs, and yes, I am on the do-not-adopt list at the local shelter. I'm not going to get into it here, but suffice it to say that Best Buy should rethink its policies and that there is no rule that a dog can't wear a polo and can't sign off on giving me a discount on a new TV. Anywho, this week's episode is filled with questions about boats, questions about music, and questions on death. Look, just give your ear holes a little treat and check this one out. Do it. Get out of your chair and go listen.
WRYAT S7E6 - Awards Show
2024/02/09
Oh, it's my favorite time of year. The time when I can wear my fanciest suit. Get a nice flattering haircut. And roll out the red carpet. This is the only way to properly appreciate Arby's. MMMM Arby's. The horse sauce alone deserves to be honored with a plaque and a heartfelt thank you speech. Oh, oh, the curly fries should have a special category just for the best shape. I would die from anticipation just waiting to hear if the not-fully-cut-but-very structurally-sound-slightly wound-up piece won. Anywho, WRYAT is going to the public radio awards show. So cross your fingers and dried out french fry daggers for a sweeping victory this year.
WRYAT S7E5 - Freedom of Speech
2024/02/05
We are back.
Like that movie about the dinosaurs that use trucks as skateboards. But instead of doing cool tech deck Ford F-150 tricks, we use soundwaves. Listen we looked at Freedom of Speech this week and metaphors and similies are on the table again. No more being direct with our language. We can draw comparisons. We can allude. We can hint at. All this power at our disposal with just a simple "like".
Anywho, before the power consumes me, check out this week's episode.
WRYAT S7E4 - The Conservation Conversation
2024/02/02
Politics today. Am I right? One dude yelling into another dude's mouth. Like a momma bird giving a baby worm chew. It's really beautiful. Nature is crazy, though. Like, this girl I knew in grade school once found one of those baby birds under a tree, and she took it home to raise it. Every night she feed it wet dog food and gave it water. Like, after a month, the thing grew up and was fluttering around the house. She stopped coming to school cause she wanted to make sure her "baby" was safe. Her parents tried to get her to go outside but she just locked herself away. I haven't been by her house in years but some say she's still there taking care of her baby birds and also starring in a bunch of movies and starting a website named after that baby bird. I think it was called Goop. Anywho, WRYAT finally has the talk about nature.
WRYAT S7E3 - A Night of Film
2024/01/26
There are times in life when you have had a rough day and all you want to do is grab a pizza and lay on the couch to watch a movie. The comfort of finally relaxing after being overworked by Tammy at the office. Getting her coffee and listening to her talk about how cute her kids are. How overbearing it is that she comes to check on you around lunch to see if you want to join several others at the office for some chicken at B-Dubs. The way she thanks you for your work and says nice things to "encourage" you. No thank you. Give me Robocop. Anywho, WRYAT explores the art of film in this week's episode.
WRYAT S7E2 - Total Recall
2024/01/19
They say your memory is like a sponge. They say sponges soak up stuff but not everything. They say the movie The Stuff is a masterpiece of cinema and eventually the critics will wake up to its level of humor and horror that merges so seemlessly into a velvety concoction. Anywho, we totally look at brain stuff this week on this week's episode of WRYAT.
WRYAT S7E1 - Getting More Better
2024/01/12
Seems like only yesterday we were just a fledgling fifth-ranked New Orleans public radio station trying to make it on our own in the cutthroat world of local broadcast journalism. Now we're a bigtime fifth-ranked New Orleans public radio station that's an esteemed member of the nationally syndicated Public Radio Now network. Gosh, time just flies by, and it reminds me to stop every so often and look at my hands. I mean reallllllllllly look at them. Those two, ten-digited octopi of creepy, wriggling appendages. Last year may have been rough, but at least I'm not one giant hand, I can tell you that much. Lord, would I be terrifying and horribly off-centered. Anywho, we're back, and thanks to our new non-profit overlords, we're getting more better.
WRYAT - Public Radio Now Special Part 2

Darlin', this is good stuff
Great production values. Love the satire. You don't have to be an NPR fan to love this - but it helps.
