For #38 on the good list we have friend of the pod Brian Lonano back on for another banger, literally. We talk about the Coppola of it all, including the documentary about this film, Megalopolis, and the documentary about THAT film, as well as troubled productions, Vietnam, Vietnam movies, and of course the actor who is many directors' own personal Vietnam, Marlon Brando. There's a lot of quagmire to chew on. #38 on the bad list is what you might call a Smolensk situation, except the propaganda film is Hungarian this time and it wasn't designed to cast blame on another country for a plane crash, it was designed to influence an election. Listen as we get into Hungarian politics (a little) and schlocky film (a lot) and don't bother trying to find or watch this movie, you'd just hate yourself anyway. Read an article about it somewhere then listen to this episode and learn slightly more (and somehow become slightly dumber along with us) Support us at our podcasting network, Podcastio Podcastius at https://www.patreon.com/podcastiopodcastius.  You'll get early episodes of this and out other podcasts, along with a live chat here and there. For #39 on the good list....well this one is kind of awkward. Not just because we told Luke the wrong number and he introduced it as #40. Luc Besson has a whole weird thing which is explored here but maybe he's just Fr*nch. Gary Oldman, Danny Aiello, and a bunch of dubbed French guys are here too, and a lot of guns. We talk about a lot of things that are uncomfortable, like Gary Oldman walking on his knees in the movie Tiptoes. #39 on the bad list ain't your daddy's Rollerball, it's less violent, oh and also it doesn't take place as far into the future, and it doesn't have someone asking a giant computer for information and it doesn't have guns that make trees explode. Anyway we're talking about the remake that got John McTiernan sent to prison for perjury about wiretapping hollywood producers along with our friend Mike Richards (Mission Log: The Orville, Talkin' Ted) and we get in a lot of talk about the original 1975 classic as well, and just extreme sports in general. Well the sports in this version aren't very extreme. One guy almost dies, kinda. Oh and some people get shot and Jean Reno is very scary. Alien - they say it's structural perfection's matched only by its hostility.Even artificial persons are impressed. It preys on men.Don't need no special suit don't need no nukesAnd don't need no artillery to rip right through your chest.Aliens gestate inside a living human host and have some concentrated acid for bloodThey mostly come at night. Mostly.Their fate depends on whether there's an airlock, whether they're in space, or whether there's a chick who's just to fast to be cut. But their foes have come to fight. Only… John Arminio (Popcorn Eschaton) joins us for #40 on the good list and frankly we all think it should be higher. For #40 on the bad list we have a 2018 autobiographical film about a Turkish Youtuber whose career started a few years earlier, so he struck while the iron was hot, to the point where he had to put the making of the movie in the movie itself because otherwise he would've run out of material. But that's only part of the story, Mark did way too much digging on the guy and it was pretty easy to find where all the one star reviews came from, we talk about that, but also our own Youtube habits and Youtube itself, and how much of the film really was imagination or reality. It's Luke's birthday movie, and it's not just about this 1986 OVA about the first Super Mario Bros game, we talk about ALL the other Super Mario Bros movies as well, from 1993, 2023, and 2026, and we give our personal rankings. We're up to #41 on the good list, where the real monsters are behind the camera. Oh and also in front of it. That's not all we talk about here, there's a lot good things about this film and we talk a lot about deception and plot twists although we're pretty mixed on the twist in this film itself. Is Keyser Soze even a person at all? Also yes we talk about X-Men. #41 on the bad list is the oldest film on the bad list (1964), and it's a Christmas movie! About aliens! Yeah it's a weird one that you've probably already heard of from MST3K or on the cover of a DVD, we talk about how it's surprisingly fun and has surprisingly decent elements, and of course, we talk about Christmas movies in general. In August! Well you can always come back and listen to it again in a few months, this is just where it fell on the list. We won't have another bad list movie from the 60's for a long time so have a groovy time while you still can. Over on Matt's other podcast, Time Enough, he's been going over every Jordan Peele produced film after doing the entire Jordan Peele Twilight Zone series. Matt is joined by Capt. Mike Richards of the Mission Log: The Orville and Talkin’ Ted podcasts to talk about Peele’s most recent directorial effort and all the chimp crazy, cowboys vs aliens, and everything else within it. If you like this, then check out Time Enough Podcast for a lot more about Twilight Zone related stuff. We'll be back to the list next week so get excited. Over on Matt's other podcast, Time Enough, he's been going over every Jordan Peele produced film after doing the entire Jordan Peele Twilight Zone series. Here Mark and friend of the pod Andrew Shearer (Gonzoriffic) join him to talk about Nia DaCosta's 2021 legacy sequel to a 90's Clive Barker adaptation, and what all of that means to the history of movies, horror, society, and everything. Cat Month comes to a close with #42 on the good list, it's the highest rated animated Disney film, but is it the best? Most of us have some sort of nostalgia, but Mark is having trouble with the trappings of lion monarchy and lion society, Luke is having trouble with Disney, and Matt has condemned himself to watch every Disney movie on another podcast on this network including the very bad "live action" version of this film. Listen to us have a complex discussion about a very simple retelling of Hamlet. Cat Month begins here! Ok it's more like Cat Two Weeks but still, we are here with Gonzoriffic's Andrew Shearer to discuss another movie with a Batman villain but no Batman. We've got a French director, we've got too much CGI, we've got Academy Award winner Halle Berry, we've got whips, we've got evil cosmetics, we've got an evil Sharon Stone, we've got... a lot of things. #42 on the bad list was definitely fun to watch and fun to talk about. It's Mark's birthday pick again! We all litigate this proto-Matrix goth weirdo epic and talk about the Matrix-sized elephant in the room as well as how evil the main character might be, and how weird his CGI powers are. Jennifer Connelly is back on the end of a pier again and Richard O'Brien is doing the time warp but to you instead of with you, sort of like Mark Zuckerberg but more attractive. Well we're back on Nazis again for #43 on the "good list", but it isn't occupied Poland this time, now it's occupied Los Angeles. We go over this critical darling that none of us really want to watch again and discuss whether it's aged well, whether Tony Kaye or Edward Norton should've had final cut, and lots of other uncomfortable things.
