The Liberty Yell #136: 0-5-3.
2026/10/14
The Liberty Yell is back with Episode 136, and the Flyers lost in the shootout tonight and are now 0-5-3. Let's talk.  Dan Vladar and Oliver Bonk were the team's only consistent bright spots tonight. Vladar had some huge saves throughout the game, and Bonk has handled being thrown into a top pairing role right away pretty damn well for a rookie.  Matvei Michkov continues to set up scoring chance after scoring chance. Even had some very good defensive plays tonight. Oh, and a dirty shootout goal! Play that guy more, maybe? (14:46TOI tn) Konecny rumors from Di Marco blog today The PP is the worst in the league still. Why on earth is Bunting on the top unit? Is Tocchet gone before we record Episode 137? DET, OTT, and COL are the next three games. There's no way they don't win at least one of those games...right?  Taking your questions and comments, and a lot more! The Liberty Yell #135: Navigating The Worst Start In A Decade
2026/10/04
Well, the Flyers are 0-1-2 to start the season and have been outshot 122-62. Exactly the start we were all hoping for, right? In Episode 135, we react to the abysmal start from the boys and some of the weird comments from Rick in some of these postgames.   Joseph Woll has been fantastic. He is 78 of 84 (.928%) to start his Flyers career and is the sole reason this team even has a point through their first 3 games of the season. We talk about what makes him so good and the possibility that he could take the starting job if Vladar looks shaky again.    The last time they started a season this bad was 2014-2015 (also 0-2-1).    Owen Tippett, Travis Konecny, Matvei Michkov, and Travis Sanheim (and Woll, ofc) are the only Flyers who have realized the regular season has started, apparently. We go over the rest of the roster and try to comprehend why more than half of the team looks like they're playing golf.    The PP is 0/8 to start the season. It somehow got worse?    The entire defensive unit (minus Sanheim at times) has been brutal. Now they lose Ristolainen, potentially?(hand)    We talked about putting Barkey at center when he comes back from injury to try to help the breakouts defensively and get speed going through the NZ.    They have TB, OTT, BOS, CAR, and SEA in the next 5 games. If they lose all but 1... does the seat get hot?    Follow us on X, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram @TheLibertyYell
The Liberty Yell #134: Tick Toch
2026/09/24
The Leo Carlsson offer sheet was matched; time to move on. The Flyers didn't get their 1C. Now, let's dive into what DID happen.    On Episode 134 of The Liberty Yell, the boys discussed everything that has happened in Flyers land since we all last talked. Trevor Zegras (4x$9.125m) and Jamie Drysdale (4x$6.5m) both avoided arbitration and signed new deals with the Flyers. Two huge current and future pieces of this team. We have Matvei Michkov coming into camp, giving full English interviews, and looking slimmed down and ready to go. We dive into his entire offseason and Rick's positive comments this summer.  Should the Flyers lock him up now? Or wait? The Flyers have made it a real point to fix the power play this season. Today, they had a 5-man unit of Trevor Zegras, Porter Martone, Matvei Michkov, Tyson Foerster, and Jamie Drysdale. Tocchet made it a point that even if this unit starts slow, he'll stick by them because he'd be an "idiot" if he did yank them after a couple of bad games.  The preseason (0-2) start isn't what we wanted, but we were watching the Phantoms team with a couple of NHLers sprinkled in there. Knuble (who has been fantastic) and Luchanko are what's left of the roster bubble forwards after cuts. Jiricek, Bonk, Benoit, and Grans remain for the defense. We go over our guesses of who makes it and who doesn't.    Follow us on X, IG, Facebook and TikTok @TheLibertyYell
The Liberty Yell #133: FLYERS OFFER-SHEET LEO CARLSSON
2026/07/03
Danny Briere and the Philadelphia Flyers have decided to drop a news bomb on us on July 3rd, 2026. They have officially signed Anaheim Ducks star center Leo Carlsson to a 5-year $90 million offer sheet that's worth $18M a year, and heavily front-loaded with bonuses. A ground-breaking move from Briere that would make the 21-year-old star the highest-paid player in the NHL. The Anaheim Ducks have 7 days to match or not match, and the boys over here at TLY break down both avenues.  On this MUST-LISTEN Episode 133 of The Liberty Yell, we break down the move from every angle. Are there some reasons for the Ducks not to match? What are those avenues? How realistic are they? Will they actually let a 21-year-old star walk out the door? Does Pat Verbeek have a job after this, either way? The corner he has backed himself into is a pretty dark one.  This is the kind of aggressive, franchise-altering move we've all been waiting for, and Danny has done his part. Come join in on the conversation.   @TheLibertyYell on X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
The Liberty Yell #132: ALL IN ON MAKSIM; FLYERS IN ON EVERYONE?!
2026/07/01
We are back with Episode 132, and there is a ton to talk about. The 2026 NHL draft is officially in the books, and the boys go over the Maksim Sokolovskii pick at 27 and some of the traits we love from the tall defenseman. We also go over the Brek Liske pick and how he's more than just a Flyers fan who was picked in the 2nd round.    Is the Flyers' overall draft strategy something you think will work? We discuss the decision to drop back in the 1st round for more capital and the emphasis on size and defensive projects. Why did they pass on two extremely talented offensive defenseman in Villenueve and Bleyl? We hand out our grades, discuss the "size vs skill" debate, and look at how this class fits the current #8 (Wheeler) prospect pool.    Finally, we got hit with Zach Werenski declining a trade to Dallas midway through the podcast. What does his wanting to stay in the East mean for the Flyers? Is it Werenski or bust for Briere? Are the Flyers in on Marchenko? What about Nikishin? We break down what realistic packages could look like!  Analysis, Prospect breakdowns, VERY STRONG OPINIONS... and a lot more in Episode 132!
The Liberty Yell #131: Draft Day Looming & The June 23rd Trade Explosion
2026/06/26
The Liberty Yell is back for Episode 131! With the fanbase (and me) having some fun with the Flyers trade history on June 23rd, other teams throughout the NHL decided to join in on the fun and cause some chaos! And I'm here to break down all the trades that have happened since the June 16th Joseph Woll to Philadelphia trade.    I kicked things off by going over the funny (and ironic) graphic my edit guy, Johnny, made for National June 23rd Flyers Trade Day. Brayden Schenn for Morgan Frost, Jori Lehtera, and Joel Farabee on 2017 draft day? Memories. Then we dive into the sheer amount of trades from OTHER NHL teams on the Flyers day... Simon Nemec to CGY, William Eklund to Ottawa, Jordan Kyrou to Washington, and Bo Byram to Chicago. We also get into who I like for the Flyers, with where they SHOULD be drafting (21st overall). Maddox Dagenais, Xavier Villeneuve, Tommy Bleyl, Ilia Morozov, Alexander Command, or Elon Hermansson? Could Malte Gustafasson fall? I talk about it at length!    Garnet Hathaway to the Panthers, Jason Robertson saying no to Seattle and St. Louis tonight, and Mason McTavish getting closed on by the Rangers or Blues. Will Danny close? We'll see!    Pure hockey chaos all around, and I have a feeling we're just getting started!    Follow @TheLibertyYell on X, IG, Facebook and TikTok!
The Liberty Yell #130: Joseph Woll is a Flyer; More To Come?
2026/06/18
MOVEMENT HAS HAPPENED. The Philadelphia Flyers kicked off the post-cup handout with a trade!   On Episode 130, we break down the move that sent Sam Ersson, Emil Andrae, and a 3rd roud pick in 2026 to Toronto for Joseph Woll and Simon Benoit. We analyze the outlook for the future of the defense and why there could be more movement coming soon. We talk about how Danny might have just created one of the better goalie tandems in the league if Joseph Woll can stay healthy and Dan Vladar can look like 75% of the guy he was last year.  Plus, we preview the NHL draft and the prospects that could be available when the Flyers are up to draft. Could they move up? Trade the pick for an impact roster player? Package it in a deal with Risto? We break down all possible scenarios. Dylan Larkin's 3-team list, Darnell Nurse trade request...FLYERS ARE INTERESTED??? A fun, jam-packed episode on everything Philadelphia Flyers!    Follow us on X, IG, Facebook, and TikTok @TheLibertyYell and don't forget to rate us!
The Liberty Yell #129: Dylan Larkin Trade Request Takes Center Stage: Should The Flyers Pull The Trigger?
2026/06/05
We went deep into the Dylan Larkin discussion in Episode 129 of The Liberty Yell. We broke down what a realistic trade could be for the almost 30-year-old center, whether it makes sense for the Flyers right now, and how he would fit in with the team. We compared Larkin head-to-head with other (younger) center options the Flyers could potentially look at via trade in Matty Beniers, Mason McTavish, and Shane Wright.    We touched a tad on the John Carlson rumors and what we would be willing to pay for the 36-year-old's services, bridging a gap with younger defenseman on the team like David Jiricek and Oliver Bonk. Is it fair to expect Carlson to come in here and fix an extremely broken PP? Are they one guy away? We also discussed the possibility of the defensive core getting shaken up a little here (Seeler, Risto, or maybe even York?).    We reached all of your live comments and questions (shoutout Jerry) throughout the episode -- thanks to everyone who took their time to interact with us, it means the world.      Is Larkin worth the potential cost? Will he even accept a trade here? Will Detroit even trade him? We got into all of that and a lot more.    Subscribe, drop a rating, and follow us on X @TheLibertyYell for all of the Flyers talk you could possibly want EVERY SINGLE DAY.
