Homily for the Thursday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time Prayer is how we draw closer to God. Whether we pray to praise God, lament our suffering, or ask for our needs, prayer draws us into a union with our Triune God that is the foundation of our being. Like Elijah, we can do nothing without God. And like Elijah, our words and actions ought to reflect God’s desires and his glory. So may our own habits of prayer help us to grow in this area, and to rely ever more on God who loves us.

Homily for the Wednesday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time Whether it’s from one generation to the next, from one president to the next, or from one pastor to the next, the transfer of leadership can produce tension and anxiety in any community. This was certainly the case with Elijah and Elisha and their prophetic community in today's reading in 2 Kings 2:1, 6-14. Today’s portion marks the conclusion of Elijah’s career, the point at which he must concede his power and position to his younger apprentice, Elisha.

Homily for Tuesday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time The real and inescapable problems of life in this fallen world should lead us to prayer. Prayer should lead us to remembering and meditating on the promises of God, both those fulfilled in the past and those that we trust will be fulfilled in the future. Remembering the promises of God will help us to praise Him as we should. As we praise Him, we can continue to face with grace, the problems that come daily into our lives.

Homily for The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Love requires someone to give and someone to receive. In a society that is so confused about how to find real happiness, an examination of the Trinity can reveal the love everyone is looking for. The Trinity is a communion of persons, a family whose life is love. Homily for the Thursday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time Lean into the sacramentals... those graces where our Lord and our Blessed Mother and Holy Mother Church want to arm you with. So, when the battles of daily life come, you are not out there without your sword of the rosary or the breastplate of the scapula. Continue to keep your mind on the Lord so you can receive those graces that you need to get through your daily battles.

Homily for the Wednesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time The Lord allows us to choose whether we will follow Him or the false gods and unrighteous ways of the world. While you are free to choose your course of action, you are not free to choose the consequences. Whether for good or bad, consequences follow as a natural result of the choices you make. Some sinful behavior may bring temporary, worldly pleasure, but such choices delay your progress and lead to heartache and misery. Righteous choices lead to lasting happiness and eternal life.

Homily for the Tuesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time By the end of his earthly ministry, Christ had made it clear that the gospel was to have a universal application. He commanded his followers to go and teach all nations, to baptize them, and teach them everything he had taught. As Christians we should spread the gospel of Christ to everyone. We are to do as much good in the name of Christ as we can, and we are to share the light of the gospel with as many as we can.

Homily for the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church Mary was at the foot of the cross when Jesus handed over his Spirit to the Father and Jesus' side was pierced from which blood and water flowed. Mary was with the Apostles and the hundred and twenty in the Upper Room on Pentecost when she received a fresh outpouring of the Spirit, now as the Mother of the Church. Her role was to walk with the early Church, sharing with them her memories of Jesus' early life. She acts as a witness of what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit as an icon of holiness and a witness to the Risen Lord. Homily for the Memorial of Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions, Martyrs At times we may not understand what Jesus is saying to us. However, no matter who we are or what positions we hold, we still are not in charge of our life. Nor can we control what our future will be. However, there is one area of control: we can make the decision to walk with Jesus daily and to trust Him with all our hearts.
